Today's category kind of threw me off at first, since I in no way remember news days off the top of my head, so my decision came purely off of the summaries they gave for each x3 Ended up going with Discovery of Meridell day, since that gave us not one but two fun things, a map update and mini event.

I know a lot of people hated TWR but honestly it was Jumpstarts real dive into a neopets plot.
Yeah there were a TON of issues but I dont want week long events either.
This moved lore forward and Im all about it even if not in a way thats ... remarkable.

Ill say that, Im building my own pet site project for fun and story writing doesnt always come easy. In fact I stopped writing at all to focus on other things and I think im going back to my original plan to have it as a creative center for users too to involve the story and create new ones while having my own plots that help push them forward too

For today's I voted for Eliv Thade day. Discovery of Meridell day had a lot of nice things going for it, but it's a calendar holiday. Everyone knew it was coming. At that point, it was a toss-up between the other three 'unplanned' days, but the fact that the NF writer seemed to have some fun with the anagrams was what tipped the scales.

I'll update my first post with no only the results but also add in my thoughts on the results in the spoiler box.

Also today's category is Best Species Specific Wearable. Choices are all meh to me. Actually could probably say that about several of the categories, maybe I'll look more into this later today...

Y'know, if we have the Neopies again next year, I hope this past Aisha Day outfit is included, since that was easily the cutest species specific wearable set I've seen in a while (during the JS era). I wish I could vote for it now.

The options for today, on the other hand...none of them immediately stand out to me. But let's see...Should I go with the Blumaroo for the Ant-Man and Wasp reference? Or the Kyrii Desert Princess because that dress is quite pretty?

I think definitely the Kyrii. The Desert Princess outfit is drawn the best, and I definitely want more wearables rendered with that quality coloring. Like, I really love how the skirt portion of the dress looks! The top of the wig looks better colored than most JS-era wigs as well.

Edit: Although now that I look at the Kyrii outfit and the Aisha outfit, the former is rendered better, but the Aisha has a cuter wig and cuter overall outfit.

Yeah, I don't think Steampunk winning was that surprising, given comments to all the new colours previously. Toy had a lot of potential, but ultimately was a lost opportunity.

I voted for Desert Princess Kyrii. It's really just the only one I actually liked rofl. The dress and the wig are really nice, especially for NP wearables.

Again, not surprised that TWR won Best Site Events, despite the numerous gripes from Neopians, including, but not limited to the lengthy wait times between steps and poor characterization for Kaia.

I'm curious as to why Handsome Horus made the list of nominees even though Lost Heirloom has not finished and the petpet not being officially released yet

I picked the King Skarl Erisim. One, because I actually do like the design. Two, because I won one around the time it was first released and sold for a looot So I have some fond memories of it lol

Best New Petpet Colour: Now you probably think I'm going to pick the King Skarl Erisim, right? Well, actually no. I like to use my votes to reward creativity and effort and so I went with the King Roo Baby Blu. Why? Because the Baby Blu has a relation to the Blumaroo species so if you're making a special Colour for it a naturally choice would be other Blumaroo characters. While the King Skarl Erisim and Princess Terrana Kookith are similar, the Petpet species don't really have anything that connects them to the characters (infact none of them are from the land of the character they're dressed as). And obviously, while the Handsome Horus has a nice little tidbit about it being Lyra's Petpet, it's just a Horus with a gold jeweled collar around its neck.


Also, what's with all the Petpets based on Royal characters? We have plenty of other Neopian characters to base Petpets off of. Not to mention we also have Petpet Paint Brushes with plenty of Petpets available to be painted in those Colours. NOT TO MENTION one of these Paint Brush Colours is Royal and, while I give them credit for basing the King Roo Baby Blu cleverness, it probably could have just been a Royal Baby Blu; many would have gotten the reference.

Best Site Event Results Discussion: Another none surprise. I would say a bit surprising to see Dragoyle Hunting got a fifth of the votes, but thinking about it it's probably the second best choice. It may have been a simple event but at least you had to actually look around Meridell and there were red herrings. Trouble in Brightvale you just clicked a button and LatLH isn't even finished yet.

My Vote: Wished the "Good Day at the Bank" was an option. Also cheating a bit having ALL the AC Team Avatars as one choice, might as well have done that with the Stamp Avatars they did. Anyway, tough choice, but I picked Brain Tree Quests to show my support for Avatars for Dailies and Games.

Results Discussion: And the day with the fun gimmick won! But just barely. Still, maybe this would encourage JS to have a bit more fun in the News. Though hopefully they notice how close Discovery of Meridell Day was and take note that they did for that day was what made it a close second.
