I ended up a hair over 37K. I didn't get rid of 100% of anything (I always left 1), so I have Items: 8,065 | Qty: 27,143 (Lots of "Special" R-101 items that weren't worth the time to donate.)

Granny was so overwhelmed with the amount of support and donations you all showed in this wondrous time of giving this special Charity Corner! She truly was humbled by all your amazing efforts that she even shed a little tear when speaking on how proud she was of everyone. It just shows the true spirit of this community! Granny has been so overjoyed that she hasn't actually come out to tell us when the shop will be ready. She has just been working so hard to make all the preparations so we are guessing she's adding a few extra surprises for all the donations, so stay tuned and we will notify you as soon as we hear from Granny!

... Okay, there's trying to soften a blow of a delay and then there's just being condescending.

Don't add a bag of sugar onto it, just say:

Granny Hopbobbin had spent all this weekend going through the list of donators she hadn't had much time to set up the Perks Shop. She asks for just a bit of extra time to send out the rest of the trophies, prizes, and the Perk Shop.

Yes, player would still complain, but at the very least I wouldn't feel like I'm being told "you're such good people! Look how good you are! Good people. So good in fact, you'll gladly give Granny extra time to set up!".

One fellow wrote this on the board: Think about the broken links/iamges and lag we have had the last few days. It they opened a prize shop in the middle of this mess it could crash the whole site. Not just a little, but take it offline hard.


Hm. He has a good point. I think Neopia would have imploded as is.

That's true, it's just that prize shops are usually done during the event period, if I'm not mistaken.

Whut, do none of you have a Rambly Grandma? Count yourselves lucky, because it feels precisely like this xD She'll start off in a way that seems to be going somewhere and you sit there patiently waiting for her to get to the point but then it detours even further into murky swamps of stream-of-consciousness until you snap and go JAYZUS, GRANDMA, GET TO THE POINT. Story of my life.

Basically they're writing Granny Hopbobbin in-character. Successfully, I might add (as evidenced by my twinges of lifelong background radiation of annoyance and the very specific form of diagonal-reading I apply to all of her texts) although it'd make a mite more sense if they wrote it in first person.

And yeah, I've also been wondering if it's a good idea to keep doing those plots and events and other shiny bling in the midst of a pending codepocalypse. The Festival of Neggs should come up pretty soon, one of the AAA-related things is usually around this time if I remember right, and then the Altador Cup? Maybe the site should just, like, take it easy for a while to recover, have a gap year in South America to find itself again and such.

I don't think that's going to help much. The problem is talent resource and the spaghetti code the site is tangled up in. What they need to do is invest in coders and content creators. Coders to help get the site both HTML5 friendly and write cleaner and more easily to manipulate code. As for content creators, at this point maybe they should just hire players from Jellyneo (and here at NTWF...) cause I can say without a doubt we know more than JS about Neopets lore and the meta rules; there's also pretty good artists within the community who don't keep re-using stock images already created.
