Just a fun little idea that I had- a sort of mini-event to close out the year that anybody on the forum is free to participate in. Not just artists like the title implies, though, writers too! Here, let me explain;
We are a forum for creative folks. I like to think that we all help each other a lot; certainly I learned a lot just in the first few months I was on the forum about proportions and posing than I had in most all the time before I joined. (Thank you to Komori and Crystal in particular for some very helpful redlines they gave me back then). So I thought it could be fun to do a side-by-side comparison to see just how much we've all improved since we joined the ol' NTWF.
The rules are simple; pick a picture (or a piece of prose) that you created back in the year you first joined the forum. So for example, since I joined in 2010, I would redraw a picture from 2010. This can be a simple piece or a complex one, it's up to you! From there, you will redraw/write the piece in your current style. If you dislike certain elements of the old work, you can tweak them. For example in a picture you can modify the framing, tweak poses, update designs for characters who've changed in the interim, and so on. In writing you can modify context to fill in a plot hole, nudge personalities to be less trite, whatever you like. The only important thing is to make sure that the picture or section of prose is still recognizable as a modified version of it's older counterpart.
If you're an ancient fogey and can't find any art from way back when you first joined, no sweat; just pick whatever you can find that's oldest. If you're a wee young little thing who just joined in the last year or two, feel free to shuck the "when you joined the forum" rule and just redraw something old of yours that you pick.
In the spirit of my earlier comment about folks giving me helpful redlines, I've decided to redraw one of the pictures that resulted from one of those redlines. Specifically, this one.

We'll aim for a deadline of January 1st to have your redraws finished. Let's all have some fun everybody! ^^
