Sign-ups start in about a week. It might be a little early for a board, but before things really kick off I wanted to discuss this. This is Kiko Lake's pre-tournament press this year:
After the initial celebrations surrounding their spectacular win in AC X, the team has been dealing with a lot of suspicion and criticism from a large portion of the public, who are convinced the players were using special magic to boost their performance. The players have repeatedly denied this claim, maintaining that all of them had undergone the routine tests set down by the Altador Cup Committee, and that no irregularities were detected. However, with rumors that the Committee is bringing in new regulations to clamp down on unfair practices during the tournament, it remains to be seen how well the team fares this year.
"Special magic". Well now it all makes sense!
But okay, I find this somewhat encouraging. Pretty clear jab at the cheaters, and hopefully signifies there will be some sort of measures put in place to slow them down this year.
I'll admit I'm a little bitter--I've hit All Star three years in a row and it hasn't meant a thing. We're all a little tired of being asked to outplay cheat programs. Before the layoffs TNT had even dropped hints that they would simply discontinue the cup. But if there's any reason to believe something will be done, I'll play this year.
On the other hand, some people will no doubt have concerns about whether any measures will end up punishing those who are playing fair. My only guess for any measures that would work is intermittent CAPTCHAs, which already caused a stink when they got added to userlookups. I can grit my teeth through those but I know a lot of people can't stand them.
On another topic entirely, I kinda liked this bit of lore:
I'm kinda loving the idea of Brightvale having a robotics conference. That's pretty sweet.
So. Plan to play this year? What team? Thoughts on the cheating situation?
All is Fair...?

Keetra Deile and her teammates were invited to participate in the 1st Annual Conference on Robotics and Automation held at the Brightvale University in the Month of Sleeping.
