Ugh . . . the Altador Cup. This was always such a fun event.
I'll probably just pick Shenkuu and play 1-2 games before I realize how much I hate the Altador Cup again.

Also, LD's blurb is (like HW's) completely wrong. Last year they finished 4th. From 16th the year before. So actually, they did the exact opposite of what the blurb says they did. So are they reading TDN's 2014's AC IX coverage by mistake? Considering that when you download the wallpapers for the teams, the pathname is: images.neopets.com/altador/altadorcup/2014/freebies/backgrounds/1680_teamworld.zip and the newest wallpaper is from 2013, I am not overly surprised.

Interesting today that we have the Faerieland Fighters, rather than TDN's name, the Faerieland Faeries. Gives me some small hope that perhaps they were aware that TDN's names weren't official but decided to use them on purpose... or, alternatively, I guess, they saw that TDN list the full name of Faerieland's neoboard chat group - Faerieland Unbreakable Fearless Fighters and just shortened it to Fighters. I'd suggest that they might have seen some of the conversations about this on the boards and changed Faerieland's in response, but given that they've used Natives for MI today, and the MIers I've seen speaking about it aren't keen, seems not.
EDIT: Scratch that. Second result for Team Faerieland in google is SN's team page, which lists Faerieland Fighters as a name they are typically known as. So that's where it came from this time.

I decided to send an editorial asking about this. Maybe if enough of the same query is posed, they'll acknowledge it?
(On an unrelated note, they forgot to put up the new Storytelling yesterday. Can't say I have the highest faith in JS right now :s)
Like, I can get them thinking that maybe these really are the team's names, and I can also see them deciding to ascend canon, but forgetting last years' placements just seems negligent.

Altador Cup VII Rank All-Star Altador Cup VIII Rank All-Star Altador Cup IX 3rd Place Rank All-Star Altador Cup X 3rd Place Rank All-Star
Looks like they copied the coding from last year, which itself was a copy of the coding from the previous year. I don't know why I'm surprised.
I wonder what, if anything, is going to be given out for people who have participated in every AC? Any word on that prize?
Edit: Sweet Fyora x_____x their idea of a rule change to fix the cheating was to lower the rank and daily score caps... ...AGAIN
oh well, less time for me to spend maxing SOSD just to get all star

... Oh dear, looks like cheating will be more rampant this year than last year. And they brought back the dreaded bracket system. Apparently, JSN will bring more changes during the Cup, but I still have my doubts. EDIT: Huh, apparently, according to the rules page, signups will close after the Tournament starts, which is on June 6. Not sure how much of a dent that will make in ridding cheaters, but it doesn't stop those from joining beforehand. EDIT 2: Jae- You should have the right prize in your inventory, not what appeared in the popup (use your userlookup to determine how many cups you've played in). And JN has the newest prize for participating in 11 Cups

It's just the popup that's borked. You'll get the right prize in your inventory. At least this year there is a prize - last year they initially didn't activate the new prize and it stopped 9 year players from signing up completely! So, POSITIVE: JS learned something. NEGATIVE: After looking at all the feedback they got - of which I've seen a lot, since we do that annual thing on the AC board where we encourage people to send in their final thoughts - they did 1 thing we asked for (stopping sign ups mid cup), but 2 things we categorically didn't ask for. In fact, the general mood was for the exact opposite - we're keeping the brackets and the caps are being lowered /again/, despite overwhelming feedback that neither works.

Yeah, I was angry at first too as it says I only participated 8 years and "gave" me the buntings... HOWEVER this looks to be a mistake as when I checked my inventory I had the appropriate returning prize: AC Themed Luxury Lounge (which looks very nice). Edit: Sweet Fyora x_____x their idea of a rule change to fix the cheating was to lower the rank and daily score caps... ...AGAIN oh well, less time for me to spend maxing SOSD just to get all star
What are they now?

HOWEVER this looks to be a mistake as when I checked my inventory I had the appropriate returning prize: AC Themed Luxury Lounge (which looks very nice). What are they now? I knew it was a display mistake and that I would have the correct prize, I just thought it was funny because of how outdated the 'years participated' is getting I don't know what they are now, just that they got lowered. They made an announcement on the official board saying that the caps were lowered is all. A tl;dr is that they lowered the caps and waffled around for three paragraphs trying to justify why they lowered them.

We won't know until live play starts. However, they must be significantly lower, or they aren't being accurate with what they are saying. Their forum post said that, with the lowered ranks, players could reach All Star in 2 days under the old caps - two days of YYB under old caps was 136 games. So, what, factoring in some side games as well, that's what, 200 or 300 YYB games for All Star. That's just nonsense. For the time being, I'm hoping they were just being inaccurate in their post.

Sifting through the source code (or just going to JN) will reveal how many games someone will need to reach All-Star 834 YYB wins, 2500 YYB draws, 1667 SS played, or 10,000 MSN/ShSh played EDIT: I've also included the minimum amount of YYB games played and won in order to reach All-Star. Keep in mind, this is not the daily cap. It would take roughly 28-29 (depending on how long the Cup runs until) games per day in order to reach All Star
