I have a short story that is just about done, which I should be able to submit tomorrow or late today. I know one month is the rule of thumb, and I've shaved it a little close, but do I still have a shot at getting into 550? (I seem to recall submitting with about 3 weeks left for 500 and getting in, but I'm not sure if that's actually how it happened. xD;)

Theoretically you could even submit in the week before issue 550 and still have a chance. Of course _that_ late would be highly risky to me, but right now, I think you are fine.

I submitted a comic last week and still haven't heard back from them :/ Hopefully I'll get my 2nd entry done today and I'm possibly doing a 3rd one although my friend and I don't have a definite idea yet, and I kind of feel like if I am going to submit a 3rd entry, it's got to be better than the first 2 ¬.¬
Hmm, but since I haven't heard back yet, is that a bad thing? How long do they usually take to reply? I've only submitted a few times and I always get the reply on the next Monday, so I'm worried.

I hadn't submitted in ages, so don't quote me on this, but I think waiting around two weeks is normal, so I think you have nothing to worry about yet. ^^ Just one thing, though... are these three entries all for issue 550? Because you can only get published once in each issue, so if you send 3 things, unfortunately only one of them will have a chance of getting in. If they're for different issues then don't mind me. ^^;

I know that only one will be able to get published though. But if they reject one, maybe they will take another one?

I just wanted to make sure you knew because I imagine it would be really disappointing to work really hard on three entries only to have two of them automatically rejected cause you can only be published once. D: But since you're aware of that rule, then I'll just wish you good luck! ^_^ (And who knows, maybe you can modify your ideas for the ones that don't get in so you can get published in other issues too!)

All right, thanks, Chao. x3
*crosses fingers* I just hope it's not too far on the dark side, because I'm not sure I'll have time to tone it down if it gets rejected. xD; Another 50th issue would be nice to get into.

I think I started a story, but it was only the beginning that I had planned out and frankly, I have no idea what to do with the rest of it. XD;; Hopefully I can get it done today and then submit.
Good luck to all of you! ^-^

Hmm, so I have 2 comics that are 550th-issue themed, but I also have a bunch of other comics on the side, which I think are better. It was really restricting to come up with something actually themed so.. question: will submitting non-themed comics be accepted too if I put "for the 550th issue"? Or are they mostly going to put NT-themed stuff up?
I kind of rambled on, but basically, should I try submitting my other, non-themed comics too?

Non-themed comics can make it in, but themed ones usually get priority. After all, a non-themed comic is usable any time, but if it's something specific to issue 550, it can't really be used much elsewhere. Yanno, focusing on just making a really funny comic will probably serve you better than submitting lots and lots of comics. XD

I've known about this forum for awhile, just never posted or made an account until now. I have a few questions... I submitted a collaboration article, and 2 individual articles (I didn't think about the possibility of one of the individual ones getting in, causing my collab to become void, and causing my friend to become ineligible D:). Does submitting multiple articles for the 550th issue hurt our chances? I thought it could only help... And I'm currently almost done with another collaboration article with the same person. Should I submit it for the 550th, or is it better to just wait? I've worked very hard on these and don't want my chances hurt just because I submitted too many. :/ If anyone can help, thank you!

XD I've thought of that, which is why I'm not submitting a 3rd one unless it is significantly better than the first 2. I'm not that much of a comic person though. I'm just the artist and I think most of my ideas are bad/not that funny. But of course if a new idea comes along that's better than the previous ones, I'm going to feel like I need to submit it because it's better :<

I can't imagine that submitting multiple things could hurt your chances, aside from the fact that now your friend has a 2/3 chance he/she won't be in the issue. XD;; Honestly, I'm surprised to hear so many people submitting multiple things to this issue (there was a question in a recent Editorial, if I recall). I suppose if it started to get excessive, there'd probably be another Editorial post about it. XD
