...So you mean this isn't a fan club about Police Public Call Boxes.... I feel cheated.... Anyhow I've been watching Doctor Who since the second season. Most of the SciFi (SyFy, whatever) channel shows I don't watch. My mom watches them. One day I sat around and watched Doctor Who. I liked it, but didn't really care much about it. A while later I watched another episode. I repeated this for a while until they decided to show a marathon of it, where I watched almost all of those episodes. Since than I can say I've seen every episode of the new series. I just found myself hooked to the series. The Doctor keeps pulling me in no matter what I try to do to watch something else

Just curious... Favourite companions, everyone?
I was particularily fond of K-9, Sarah Jane, Adric and Ace.

Considering I've never seen the early ones (pre-Christopher Eccleston), limited access but....
K-9 definitely! I loved seeing that little robo dog ;D

For some reason, something I just saw on the credits to the Pompeii episode has made me laugh a rather unnerving amount:
Soothsayer Karen Gillian
I think it's Gillian... might have been Gilliam... anyhow, it's the right one for the first companion of the Eleventh Doctor.
Quite a novel little twist there, and I guess it continues the theme with the newer series and companions; all the main ones appear at some point first, in some form or another.
Just thought I'd share that little observation and the peculiar humour it has yielded.

Just to re-start some conversation... anyone doing anything Doctor Who related for Halloween? I'm going to be the 4th doctor. My scarf is almost done! I'm not, though I think a Doctor Who costume would be awesome. The 4th Doctor's scarf is pretty impressive, too! I've seen some pretty cool Dalek and Tardis costumes online, too. And I really think my friend who doesn't have a costume yet should just be the tenth Doctor, but I doubt he has a suit. But he's skinny, wears the right type of glasses, and has his own sonic screwdriver.. he could totally pull it off!

One year at Anime Expo, there was a guy who looks just like the current Doctor You could tell he was getting tired of people taking pictures. When one person left and he relaxed, another group would see him and start taking pictures.

Looks good, Elle! One year at Anime Expo, there was a guy who looks just like the current Doctor You could tell he was getting tired of people taking pictures. When one person left and he relaxed, another group would see him and start taking pictures. Haha, there's a guy at my school who looks a lot like David Tennant, except blonder. He was at the Halloween party I went to (though not dressed as the Doctor), and one of my friends had to excitedly introduce me to him as David Tennant. He claims he doesn't see the resemblance, though.

Heard that David Tennant wants to play the Riddler in a Batman movie I wish I had my digital camera when I saw the guy at the Anime Expo. I have the picture around here somewhere, but no scanner.

Anyone really looking forward to Waters of Mars?
Waters of Mars Release dates:
United Kingdom is November 15 (BBC One)
United States is December 19 (BBC America)
Well, at least this time I only have to wait 4 days instead of months upon months to watch a Christmas and Easter special in, if I recall right, summer. That was unbearable. So really I'm not complaining.
Sorry for you folks that live elsewhere, I don't know about your times.

Having seen it (warning, big plot spoilers ahead!): As this one went along I can't say I was overly impressed with it. It didn't really stand out as anything special, although it wasn't particularly naff either. Just a pretty average thing. Until 15 minutes from the end. I loved it from that point on, as The Doctor walks away and everything happens behind him, the folks of Bowie Base One steadily succumbing to the flood and being sealed in. It really had that epic feel of the long march, and David Tennant had that traumatised look on his face the whole time, and you knew it was breaking his heart to do such a thing. But he knew he had to do it. Get a great contrast there of his slow walk away while the base is going into a frenzy trying to stop the flood. Then of course he goes mental. The Doctor becomes The Master basically. "We aren't just fighting the flood, we're fighting time itself, and I'M GOING TO WIN!" I would have quite liked to see more of this crazed Doctor, which would of course have led to his downfall and the passing of the flame to the Eleventh Doctor. It's another part that contrasts well with his march, and you can see the full impact of everything he has ever been through, and the ringing true of Donna's words from 'The Runaway Bride'. He need someone to stop him. The end also kept me guessing, as I thought this was David Tennant's final performance! I kept expecting Adelaide to shoot him at the end rather than the other way, but the moment she actually closed that door it was obvious what was going to happen. I really did enjoy that final fifteen minutes. As I think shows Got kind of mixed thoughts on the teaser trailer for the next one that they showed after this episode. But I'll save those thoughts for when I log in again, and when more people have had the chance to see this episode (and hopefully the teaser bit too).
