Oh boy, this season finale is a real doozy as it changes everything that we know about the Doctor. On the other hand, the mystery of 'The Impossible Girl' or Clara, which started with 'Asylum of the Daleks' is more or less solved. Despite the title name, the Doctor's name is not revealed. There is an unofficial/forgotten Doctor, one who was never mentioned because of a terrible thing that this one created/started. Which means that the current Doctor is unofficially, the twelfth one For next season, the above spoiler is most likely going to be plot point.

And it's official. After weeks of speculation, the BBC has confirmed that the current Doctor, played by Matt Smith, will bow out @ the end this year. Source

About the Announcement. Huh. I don't know much about the guy. But he seems to be well-established. I thought they'd go for more of an unknown.
Well, we'll see how this goes, I guess.
Also, according to that IMDB, he also played John Frobisher in Torchwood: Children of Earth.

Regarding the announcement... His most previous role was a spin doctor called Malcolm Tucker and dear gods, the language he uses would make a sailor blush. I've seen it and it's weird to think that this is the same actor who will be playing the Doctor.
But I do think it's nice that they're going back to an older actor. I loved Matt Smith but it just suits the Doctor to be old, in my opinion.

He also played a WHO Doctor in World War Z. XD
I find that kind of thing funny.

I am sure you guys already watched the episode? I couldn't watch it live but I found it online the next day. Here are my comments on it. It was an excellent episode for its own merits. As a standalone, special episode, it was very good with fun moments, climax and revelations. But I do feel like I expected something more. Maybe it's because I never liked Clara the whole season and suddenly 'The Name of the Doctor' changed her in my mind forever, I expected 'The Day of the Doctor' to have something...more! I believe that if it wasn't a special episode and I wasn't so hyped up for it, I would have found it even better. I still loved the episode and all its aspects though, but I do feel like 'The Name of the Doctor' as a season finale would be better. Secondly yes I enjoyed seeing Billie Piper playing the consciousness of the Moment impersonating Rose Tyler as the Bad Wolf entity but I wanted her to simply play Rose Tyler. Why did 10 had to be from a period after the events of Journey's End? Why couldn't we get Rose Tyler for one episode again? Thirdly, I felt like John Hurt was very welcomed by the other two Doctors despite Hurt's previous appearances that made him look all evil and vicious. 10 and 11 weren't as appalled as I expected them to be and for some reason it didn't seem right in my head. At the end of 'The Name of the Doctor' 11 seemed horrified even by the thought of the War Doctor but in the episode he was just...ok with him. Anyway, I adored the scenes with the previous Doctors flying their TARDIS at the same time around Gallifrey, it looked really cool! Generally the episode had some very good parts and I would rewatch it! My comments may seem as if I didn't like it but I actually did :3
What are your comments on it? =D

Just watched the special. I can't stop smiling out of awesomeness XD For most of the show I was just enjoying it. When the 3 got together it was just fun. But at the end when all of them were flying around, I couldn't help laughing out loud out of pure giddiness! "All twelve of them." "No sir, all thirteen!"
It was great! ^^

Time of the doctor related... "We all change. When you think about it, we're all different people all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all people that you used to be." Yeah that line got to me.

Not sure about how old Club threads go but I checked and there wasn't a new thread, so I am posting here :3 It's sad this thread has been dead for almost a year, despite the new series! Also, not sure how long we wait to stop using spoilers, but I will use them anyway. So, after the last episode with Smith I had really liked Clara, especially her moments in the time stream, I found it really interesting how it all got tied up. And generally, I admire the writers for each series's ending since they always provide a twist that intrigues me (well, after 2005, never watched older episodes). But this series's finale with Capaldi and Clara was just...mediocre. The plot was interesting, Missy was a surprise, but I keep feeling it wasn't such an exciting finale. The had set it up so nicely, with Missy closely monitoring Clara throughout the series and with the Nethersphere being something else, that it felt like the ending was just OK. Furthermore, I didn't want Danny to die, but nevermind Those are my thoughts, how about you guys?
