From the outside it looks innocent enough - an antiquated blue call box that apparently someone forgot to take down decades ago. But you step inside for a peek only to be met with the shock of your life - it's bigger on the inside, and definitely not of this world. Yes, my friends, you are in the TARDIS. When you step out again, you are no longer back in the plain old forums of the NTWF, but deep in the heart of the Doctor Who fanclub! (Because, seriously, one of these didn't already exist?) Step up, ladies and gents, tell me your name, and your spiffy title if you have one, and I'll add you to the list. And then chat away! Keep in mind to be careful about spoilers, though, you know how the Doctor feels about them. Members: - Purple - "Came first in Jiggery Pokery"

I feel a need to comment on a novel thing that happened to me relating to that show. Should probably point out first I've only seen the most recent ones, nothing from way-back-when. Anyhow, my first meeting with The Doctor was an episode in series 4, with clones and some strange gas. Anyhow, I picked the resolution to pieces with scientific reasoning, and as such my housemate actually BANNED me from ever watching it again, because I annoyed him that badly That being said, some time later we were watching the end of series 2 (his memory isn't too good) and I did become somewhat hooked on it. A great finale that one, as were the rest (only recently seen the end of series 4). Shame about David Tennant leaving it though, he's been great as The Doctor

Doctor Who is awesome. <3
I still prefer the old series, though. The bad acting and lame props/special effects just make it of "so bad it's good" quality. XD

The low budget effects and sets just make them last so much better than modern stuff (and which is why a lot of remakes or revivals are so naff by comparison). No idea about the bad acting though. Was it bad or just... sort of campy over-acting? That can be such fun, and something I would expect to find off Tom Baker especially after his performance Blackadder as Captain Rum. Shame they don't air the old episodes any more as I would quite like to have a looksee, and I'm too broke to buy them on DVD

It was both bad and overacted, depending on the actor/character and episode. XD
I mean, if you're supposed to be dead, you're not supposed to reposition your leg to be more comfortable.

I've only seen the new, and I haven't even finished it. I can't yet, since a couple friends and I all made a deal to wait until September so we could watch them together. But I really really want to watch more. I watched a Doctor Who Comic Relief special and a bunch of Catherine Tate sketches on Youtube yesterday that my friend sent my to ease my Doctor Who withdrawal. But I love old campy TV shows, like the original Star Trek. That stuff is great. (I'll add you two to the list as well.

That is always fun. When things like that occur, in the right sort of situation (such as the campy overacting style I'd expect from old Doctor Who) it does just somehow add to the charm. Makes no sense, but still such fun ;D

Tamia is added. I like your title, though I'm personally very partial to 9's "Fantastic!" I am growing frustrated with the lack of Doctor Who in my life... I keep accidentally seeing/reading things online that are spoilers for the end of the fourth season. It doesn't make me want to watch it any less, but it's better without spoilers, y'know?

Hmm, does anyone else think it's strange that I'm finding the Daleks oddly cute. I'm not sure if that's the right word, but it's the closest thing I can think of.
I'm sitting here watching the Christopher Eccleston episode 'Dalek', and that lone Dalek actually seems oddly cute, almost sweet in a way. It's just so lonely and sad. Yes it's a murderous thing that butchers so very many (they deserve it though), but...
Maybe I'm also partial to them because not only are they the most iconic race of villains in history (in my opinion), they get so many good lines in these new series. "You would make a good Dalek" when said to --------. "This isn't war, this is pest control." "We would destroy the -------- with one Dalek, you are superior to us in only one way: you are better at dying." I've removed the names (bar Dalek) there in case people haven't seen the relevant eps, I don't want to potentially give away spoilers.

The Dalek's robot shell is cute. =D Especially in the old versions, when throwing a hat over its eyestalk, fleeing up some stairs or pushing it onto its side would render it useless. XD

XD You know you've given me an idea for a whole new activity. Sod cow tipping, let's go DALEK-TIPPING! Even the new ones don't seem too immune to that. Sure they can EL-E-VATE now, but that's doesn't mean they can right themselves ;D I'd probably best go hide now. If one reads this it'll come to exterminate me. I wonder how Dalek-creator Davros would react to being tipped... hmm, now there's a thought. Maybe I should go hide in the Time War so I can put that to the test...
