'We have a potential new recruit. You want to meet me in the foyer? Not that it's a suggestion. Move your tails.' Hades groaned as Fenrix's voice entered his head. How the hell do I tell her 'yes'? he thought, standing. It's not like I have psychic powers or anything... He walked into the foyer, trying not to appear as tired as he was.

"What, 'welcome'?" Xivion's eyebrows raised. "No hazing? No fighting initiation rite? No blood? No mental torture? Or does that all come later?"
Like when your friends get to the foyer.

"Don't worry, that all comes during training. I'm in charge of archery and hand to hand combat. You'll get your chance to beat the hell out of everyone. For now..." She opened the door and beconed Xivion inside, "This is Hades." She raised a brow as Shiloh entered the room and rubbed himself against the new girl's leg. "And that...is Shiloh." She turned to Hades, amused by his obvious irritation with her telepathic message. "Hades this is Xivion Shade."

"What, 'welcome'?" the new person said "No hazing? No fighting initiation rite? No blood? No mental torture? Or does that all come later?"
"Where'd you get that idea of the Mercs?" Hades asked, entering the room, irritation evident on his face. "We don't do any of that unless you deserve it. Except blood, of course. That comes with the job." He listened to Fenrix, and raised an eye at the name. "Shade? Does that have some sort of meaning, or do you just like the sound of it?"

Post by Vyt: Down, but Not Out on Jun 26, 2007 5:58:24 GMT -5
Newly-risen, Vyt quickly ventured on the hallways of the Mercenary Guild. Half-sleepy but awake, he desperately tried to find a bathroom so he could have himself cleaned. Before he went to sleep last night, he had to remove his clothes down to his underpants just to relieve himself of discomfort. That, however undignified may be, had been a habit for the half-feline.
The half-feline's droopy eyes directed themselves towards a window, giving him an image of the hazy rain. Vyt could only squirm in discomfort at the sight of it as he continued looking for the door. Rains never impressed him, no matter how amusing the falling drops of water may be.
However sleepy Vyt may be, his sense of awareness was never reduced. His cat ears caught a faint conversation between people. Seeing as how lost he was, he had no choice but to follow the voices that pierced through the thin walls of the guild. Finally, Vyt had reached the door that was the only obstruction from him and the ongoing conversation. Pushing the door opened had revealed to him the sight of Hades, Fenrix and a rather new person.
Realizing that he was only in his undergarments, Vyt had no choice but to sigh and say:
"... Oh great. What a way to start the day."

"I hardly think that you get to choose your own name," Xivion said evasively. "And I'm glad that blood comes with the job." She looked down at the cat still circling her legs. "Shiloh, m?"
Get away from my leg, so help me.
"And in answer to your question about my views of the mercs," Xivion continued, looking back up at Shade. "If I do get accepted, then I am going to be the next person racing you to hits, stealing your missions, and selling you out for gold. I think that deserves at least one intiation skirmish."

Post by ♥ Rain on Jun 26, 2007 9:38:31 GMT -5
Rain woke up slowly. Perhaps the intensity of the rain on her small window had gone down and it made her more aware of the voices in the nearby kitchen or perhaps it was simply some inner driving force telling her that it didn't really matter if she wanted more sleep, the day was started and she was missing out. Whatever the case was, once the girl came out of her loved and hated realm of dreams, she couldn't go back and was thus widely and painfully awake.
She muttered lightly to herself as she got ready, getting out of her untidy night clothes and into a only slightly more put together day costume. She ambled out of her door and presently came to the kitchen.
"Oh." That was all she managed to say when she saw the newcomer. Snap, she thought a moment later. That sounded simply brilliant—what is your mind doing, taking a vacation? Yeah, probably. Rain allowed herself a moment of awkward silence (mostly on her part) before she gave up obstructing the doorway and began to get out some bread to make a sandwich. In the process of making the sandwich, she listened silently to the newcomer.
"And in answer to your question about my views of the mercs, if I do get accepted, then I am going to be the next person racing you to hits, stealing your missions, and selling you out for gold. I think that deserves at least one intiation skirmish."
Rain sighed inwardly. Another jerk, I suppose. Should I ever hope for anything more in the guild anyway? We are... after all... mercenaries. It's such a crude life.

Xivion hated to look surprised, but she honestly couldn't help herself. Someone was standing in the lobby behind Fen was a guy. Just standing there in his underwear.
Holy Cow. I was wrong. The Initiation is mental torure.
"Wha... what the ...." Xivion swallowed hard. "You've got to be kidding me," she said flatly.

"Wha... what the ...." The newcomer gave a gulp. "You've got to be kidding me."
"Kidding what?" Rain turned around, knife in hand. "Oh, him. Looking for anything?" she said, addressing Vyt.

Sighing with annoyance Fenrix turned. "Vyt? Get lost. Now." Her amber eye bore into the half-feline's. Daring him to disobey her. "Xivions, I'd warn you to watch your mouth, being a merc does not require you being a jerk." She waved a hand at Shiloh, who jumped on his mistress' shoulder. "I don't think she likes cats."
"As for initiation, I could always drink your blood for a minute straight, you'll be out for the next two days, that'll give me time to work my dark magic on your unconcious body." Fenrix took no crap, and this new recruit would soon learn that, or else run screaming. She'd make sure of that.

"Wha... what the ...." the newbie swallowed hard. "You've got to be kidding me"
Rain, being the only person Vyt failed to notice, turned around to see what was going on. She didn't look surprised, however.
"... Looking for anything?"
Still recovering from embarassment, Vyt answered, "... I'm naked, I'm dirty, and I need to take a bath. Where's the bathroom?"
Before Rain could answer, Fenrix sighed in annoyance as she turned around towards Vyt. "Vyt? Get lost. Now", she exclaimed.
Being clearly not in the mood to raise another fight, Vyt had no choice but to disregard the girl's empty threats. "I'm in no condition to make a petty catfight", he simply replied.

"Where's the bathroom?" asked Vyt in a slightly embarassed sort of way.
Rain sucked her knife clean of peanut butter. "Bathroom's down the hall to.. hm.. your right. We tried to make it in the middle of the living quarters, you know. There's a men's and a women's, but I'm afraid they aren't marked that well." She gave a sheepish look. "It was fine having them on paper until they got doused. We haven't replaced them since."

((Xiv, my character here is Hades, not Shade.))
"I hardly think that you get to choose your own name. And I'm glad that blood comes with the job."
"But you can, if you try hard enough, make people call you what you wish." Hades said, ignoring Vyt.
"And in answer to your question about my views of the mercs, if I do get accepted, then I am going to be the next person racing you to hits, stealing your missions, and selling you out for gold. I think that deserves at least one intiation skirmish."
"Has it ever occured to you that I might have other places I can go, and thus not care if you take my job?" Hades smiled a bit. "But if you want a fight, I'd be happy to oblige."

Post by Elcie on Jun 26, 2007 12:30:39 GMT -5
Soft paws padded down the hall as Blizzard followed the sound of voices. "Hey, the lazy Thirecat's still in bed and Blitz is trying to get her up, what's..." She trailed off at the sight of the newcomer made the answer to her question obvious, and trotted up to sit down between Hades and Fenrix, glancing appraisingly at Xiv. "Another one," she muttered, then grinned. "Elcie's gonna be mad I didn't get her up. Though I did tell her she ought to start setting an alarm, so I suppose that's her fault."
Elycien, meanwhile, was doing her best to ignore Blitz, who was perched on her back kneading his claws into her shoulder. She gave a muffled groan and buried her head in the pillow. "Go 'way," she mumbled. "Too early."
"Everyone else is up," the black Gathow scolded. "And from the sound of things, something's going on downstairs. Blizzie went to investigate."
With some effort, the Thirecat sat up and rolled out of bed, looking slightly like a zombie. Rolling his eyes, Blitz walked to the door. "I'll wait for you out here, and you'd better not go back to sleep again."

Xivion wanted to laugh.
oh man I'm going to like it here.
"Apologies," she said out loud. "And thankyou, I'd rather not be unconcious for two days."
I wonder if they underestimate me. That would be really funny.
