((Yeah, thanks. >_>)) Nature gulped at the sight of the Mages surrounding her, all with their weapons pointing at her. What has she done to deserve this? Certainly she didn't know these people - the Zafara was only new here! Why would her fellow Mages want to attack a newbie?! ((0_o)) "Um, I'm sorry." Nature stammered, while trying to inch away from the angry Mages. "I-I think I'll just go to the-" "Not so fast!" The scouter yelled, putting his dagger centimeters to the Zafara's neck. "What did I do to deserve this?!" Nature screamed at the top of her lungs. "You were not supposed to go near that door, wretched anthropomorph!" another of the Mages said. Nature stared blankly at the Mages surrounding her. They were human, of course. Normal clothing, capes, magic, weapons, etc. Then she looked at herself. She was an Anthro Zafara, and she chose to be that way. Nature frowned. "Oh great, anthropomorphic haters." She muttered under her breath. "Why not all of us?" She looked back at the angry Mages, a glint of mischievousness in her eyes. Slowly, she took her Scroll of Ice . . . . . . and soon, she was free, running away from the door where several ice statues stood. ((Ha! > Belat sa inyo. Nye nye nye nye nye. ))

Rikku frowned at the map, blinked, and then turned it around. “Oh. Right. Heh. That explains a lot …”
She looked up, filled with trepidation. She didn’t even need the map right now (though it would have come in handy earlier); the tall towers of a manor could be clearly, if distantly, seen through the thick trees. It looked very old and grand. Rikku bit her lip and spun her wand around in her hand.
She almost dropped the bone when she heard voices. Cursing her clumsiness, she snatched it up while it was still falling and dived for a tree to hide behind. Her pants got grass stains and dirt on the knees, but that was okay, as they were black anyway. The important thing was that she was hidden.
Rikku wasn’t sure why she was so nervous; after all, it was probably just a group of her fellow mages out to pick mushrooms on a sunny day.
Rikku peeked around the trunk and then whipped her head back, one eyebrow quirked. Since when did mages wear masks like that?
She waited until they’d passed, then ducked out from behind the tree, brushing loose earth from her clothes. The mage turned so she was looking straight at the manor, sighed again, and struck out towards it. Her own trepidations didn’t matter now. Something was going on here, and she wanted to get to the bottom of it.
The manor, when she reached it, was showing odd signs of being the worse for wear. One of the walls was covered in scorch marks! The door seemed to be intact, at least. That was something. Rikku walked briskly up the stairs and rapped on it, so hard that she muttered another curse and pushed her hand into her mouth to suck her scraped knuckles.
After no one came to the door, Rikku grew tired of waiting. She didn’t particularly feel like knocking again, and wasn’t much of one for waiting anyway. She pushed open the door and stepped in.
“Hi, my name is Rikku Dianthe and I’m a fire mage …?” Rikku trailed off, because there was no one there to hear her. She frowned. This was surely another count to the oddness of whatever was going on.
“Oh well,” she said philosophically, and set off through the Manor, looking for someone to tell her about whatever was happening.
The place was labyrinthine. After ten minutes of walking, Rikku knew she was walking in circles. She sighed dejectedly and was about to flop down on the floor in defeat when she saw something odd. She blinked yet again.
Several figures stood frozen solid in a hallway ending in a door. Rikku blinked and scratched her head. Eventually, when they showed no sign of moving, she walked up to them and examined them more closely.
They were wearing those odd masks. Rikku began to think that they weren’t mages at all; not Mages, anyway, and that was good enough for her. She poked her tongue out at one of them.
She could have sworn its head began to move towards her. Rikku yelped and, deciding that lingering here probably wasn’t the best of ideas, high-tailed it back down the corridor.
She could navigate somewhat better after that. Maybe this infuriating Manor had finally decided that she could be trusted and let her find her way. Whatever it was, Rikku soon began to hear sounds of battle – raised voices and distant blasts of magic. She frowned, but was internally relieved. A battle, there – that was something she could understand without being told. Just so long as she knew what side she was on … well, maybe she could thwack a few masked skulls with her frying pan while she was there.
She poked her head around the corner of a large hallway. This was where most of the fighting was going on; it looked like several of the masked people (and some shadows? What in Neopia?) were fighting with Mages. Rikku grinned, slipped her wand back onto her belt and pulled out her frying pan instead. This might get nasty.
With that thought, she dived into the fray, hoping she didn’t do any of her allies any injury.

Nature, having surviving the encounter with the masked mages, sneaked up to the manor hall(?) and peeked through the door. The Zafara's eyes widened as she fell on her tail, her facial expression showing sheer terror and utter confusion.
Here were her fellow mages, brandishing their weapons with determination glistening in their eyes - fighting unknown forces. These unknown forces were shadows - those darned black things that were supposed to stay under a person's feet! Nature scratched her head. Where did I see this before?, she wondered.
Just then, one of the shadows looked at the Zafara. It then grabbed the staff of a fallen mage and chanted something.
Nature felt the ground below her shake mildly. She looked below her feet. Her black eyes widened in horror.
Her shadow was gone.
Instinctively, she looked straight and stifled a scream.
Her shadow was right in front of her! It somewhat looked like Nature, only it was black, it was surrounded by dark mists and it's yellow(?) eyes were filled with wrath and malice. Nature turned pale at the sight of this. Her own shadow betraying her! It was almost liked being killed by your best friend.
Nature regained her composure. Inhaling deeply, she summoned her weapons - her arnis, her freeze ray gun, her Scroll of Ice, her attack clockwork Yooyus and a brand new keyblade - and positioned herself in front of the treacherous shadow. Her eyes suddenly gleamed with determination as she readied her keyblade for attack.
"Let the battle begin."

Rikku brandished her frying pan, but found, to her surprise, that instead of fighting one of the masked creeps, she was fighting her own shadow.
This seemed rather odd. She frowned at it. It looked similar to her, more or less, though it was just black, and seemed somewhat insubstantial. It wasn't.
A burst of fire, tinged with black around the edges, came out from its hand and towards Rikku. She held up her frying pan on reflex, and the handle heated up in her hands.
"No fair! How come my shadow's better at fire magic than I am?" Rikku demanded, and darted aside from another blast. The shadow's eyes were glowing. It was as agile as Rikku, if not more; the next blast headed straight towards her, impossible to dodge.
Rikku belted her frying pan and caught the fire in her hands, wishing she had thought to wear gloves. She concentrated, adding more of her own fire to it, trying to tone down the black edges, and then met her shadow's glowing eyes.
"Burn," she hissed, and shoved the fire into the shadow's chest. Her hands immediately felt numb, which was something of a relief, since they had been badly scorched. She withdrew them as quick as she could, and took a step back, glancing down at them. The skin was raw and red.
"I really need to practice my fire magic," she said thoughtfully, and then looked up and parried the shadow's next attack. It barely seemed affected. This was going to be a long day.

ZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!"AAAAAAAARGH!" POW!"Oof!" Nature landed on her tail, her face covered with blows and scratches. She blew two locks of her hair away from her face and glared at her shadow. It had a satisfied grin on its (or her?) face and picked up Nature's best weapons - her arnis and her keyblade. Nature fumed at the sight of this. Can you imagine, a shadow - a measly, pathetic shadow - beating its master! The shadow saw the glare and grinned again. Once Nature got up, it attacked, sending the Freezemancer flying towards the wall. BANG!"Owwww . . ." Nature mumbled, getting up. She looked at her shadow, who was now glaring at her with its yellow eyes full of hatred. Come back, shadow, Nature thought, casting puppy dog eyes at her shadow. ((Yeesh, kinda reminds you of the time Demyx fought Sora in the Underworld, eh? >_> *mutant yooyu'd*)) The shadow, however, was unmoved. It formed a ball of ice magic around it's hand and threw it at the Zafara, who was hit. "Ouch!" Nature screamed, her arm badly signed by the blast. It quickly healed, however, the snowflakes disappearing into the Freezemancer's light-green fur. Nature shook her head and growled. Stupid shadow! she cursed mentally. Suddenly, an idea hit her. Nature smiled slyly and slowly got up. She then created a snow ring around her. Her shadow gave her a smug look. Yeah, like THAT"S going to protect you, it seemed to say. Nature shook her head. With a mischievous sparkle in her eyes, the Zafara summoned a new weapon. The shadow looked at her in shock. It was a guitar! Only different. It looked more like a lute than a guitar, it had a really long neck and it had some sort of "gourd resonating chamber" which made it look very, very odd. It had a metallic blue colour and had little prints of swirls and snowflakes on it. The shadow looked smug again. A guitar? THAT'S your last resort? This is gonna be easy!Nature seemed to read it's mind. "It's a SITAR, not a GUITAR! There's a big difference!" Nature started strumming the strings of this odd instrument. Then, something that the shadow never expected happened. "DANCE, SNOWFLAKES, DANCE!" Soon, the snowflakes lifted themselves and lunged at the shadow. "AAAAAAAAAUGH!" the shadow shouted, letting go of the arnis and the keyblade. Nature casually picked up the weapons. "Y'know, you can get annoying sometimes," the Zafara told her shadow. She then froze the shadow in a block of ice. "That should stop it for a while," Nature murmured to herself. She looked around her. Now to help the others, she thought to herself as she ran to find a mage who needed help from the Neopian Freezemancer. ((References: here and here. ^^))

Rikku summoned a quick fireball. They hadn't been particularly effective so far. Time to get creative, then.
She felt for her components and pulled out a small piece of charcoal and a bone that could have been some poor squeaky little animal's rib. Crush the charcoal over the rib and push it into the fire. Easy so far.
Ignoring her burnt fingers, Rikku muttered a spell she'd stumbled across. It had been etched in thick letters on the mausoleum of a lord. Presumably, it was pretty powerful. She hadn't actually used it yet, so like most of her magic, it was largely improvised.
"Cadacus, devoto, accendo, aduro," she chanted. It was a hodge-podge of Latin, so far as she could tell, but if it worked, she wasn't complaining. She immediately felt the drain of the magic, and drew some energy from the fireball, snuffing it out. Rikku broke the bone in half, gripped one half in each fist and then punched the shadow, immediately feeling the cold. She stumbled back, leaving the bones in.
"Well, that should have done something!" Rikku said, annoyed. Right on cue, the shadow burst on fire, and seemed to crumble. "Well, it's not exactly alive, so that's probably the best I'm going to get with necromancy." She sighed, then walked away from the burning, crumbled shadow, hoping that that would be that. "Wonder what everyone else is doing?"
She spotted a Zafara who didn't seem to be actively fighting. "Um, hi?" she asked, giving her best meeting-new-people smile. "My name's Rikku Dianthe, I just found the Manor and my shadow tried to kill me ... " She trailed off. "Not the best time for introductions, I suppose." She looked around. "What's going on?"

Nature looked at the other mage - first with utter surprise, then with a welcoming face. "Hi there, Rikku," she said, her hands holding on to her sitar very tightly. She wanted to makwe sure this other mage wasn't a shadow in disguise who was going to run off with her instrument. But, seeing that the other was also new here, she introduced herself.
"My name's Nature, and I'm from Neopia. I was sent here to improvise my magical powers. I'm a Freezemancer, meaning that my powers are all ice-slash-snow related." She saw the weird look on Rikku's face, the Pyromancer's eyes directed at the instrument. The Zafara sighed. "And yes, I have a string instrument as a weapon." She looked behind Rikku and gasped. A shadow was headed right for her!!!
"Rikku, look out!" The Pyromancer looked behind her and ran to the right, with Nature running to the left. The shadow reared and positioned it for attack.
Nature looked at Rikku. "I think I need help," the Zafara gasped, already looking tired and weak. Rikku nodded. With that, Nature strummed her sitar while Rikku brandished her frying pan.
"CADACUS, DEVOTO, ACCENDO, ADURO!"
"DANCE, SNOWFLAKES, DANCE!"
The shadow, both burned badly and having a horrible frostbite, scampered away. Nature gave Rikku a high five.
"Should we go help the others?" Rikku asked the Freezemancer, determination showing in her eyes.
Nature nodded. "Yep. Let's go find Omni, she knows what to do!"
Nature pointed at the fire-furred Zafara fighting her shadow. Rikku nodded and the two Mages headed where Omni was fighting.
((Now, we wait for Omni to answer. ^^))

A purple dragon lands beside Rikku and Nature and turns into a girl in a purple robe, long and curly brown hair, electric-blue eyes which are so much like a dragons. What strikes you most is the pair of dragon wings on her back. She dusts the snow off and comes over to Nature and Rikku, slightly shy.
"What is going on? Can I help in some way?"

A dragon landed neatly beside Rikku and Nature. The young necromancer watched, fascinated, as it turned into a more-or-less human girl, with distinct dragon characteristics.
"What is going on? Can I help in some way?"
"Well, I only just joined, so I don't have a clue!" Rikku said cheerfully. "Currently it looks like we're fighting these mutant shadow things, and those masked chaps over there look pretty iffy. You're a dragon, so maybe you could torch a few bad guys?" She smiled at her. "My name's Rikku, and like I said, I'm new. What's your name?" Once again, introductions on a battlefield, Rikku thought wryly. Whatever happened to tea and biscuits?
Rikku was suddenly struck by an idea. "The head of the Mages is a kitsune or something, right? Maybe we could ask her what's going on!" Nodding decisively, Rikku looked around for Ikkin.

The girl looked at Rikku quizzically, her eyes alert and searching for the shadows Rikku mentioned.
" I can't breathe fire unlike most dragons. However..." the girl flexed her hands and a tongue of flame burst into life, scorching a shadow that was behind Rikku. She grinned.
"I am not just a shapeshifter. But you are right, we should find Ikkin. I can't be any help sadly as I don't know what they look like unless..." her eyes glowed " Can't we search together?" she went limp and turned back into the purple dragon that had flown in, swiping at another shadow with her claws and knocking a cluster over with a sonic shockwave.

Omni and her shadow clone continued circling around eachother, each one waiting, each one looking at the other. Omni briefly looked over at the new mages. The shadow took this as an opportunity to strike, lunging at the original. Omni reacted in time to knock it away somewhat, slashing it in the face. It pounced again, this time at her side, knocking her down and holding her down. Omni kicked it away, although not without receiving a few scratches herself. She rolled over, and jumped as a type of evasive maneuver, gliding and keeping an eye out for her double. The double jumped up from behind her and grabbed her legs (with its claws ), pulling her down. ---------- By now, the shadows around Sarien were pretty well thinned out, and the mages appeared to be pretty distracted. Carefully, she made her way around the battle, sticking close to the wall.
