"What just happened?" Jade asked Whitney as they were lead to the lake. ((I'm sorry for all the short posts, I just can't seem to think up long posts.)) Whitney: "I don't really know." The wolf beam runs out, and disappears below them. Whitney: "Rod of Feline, send us a gust of wind!" They are blown by a powerful gust of wind directly to a nearby lake. Being part cat, Whitney starts panicing. When they land in the lake, Whitney starts splashing and yelling. Whitney: "Help! I hate water! I can't swim! HELP!" Whitney notices it's not to deep, and they can stand. Whitney: "Oh... Heheh... Come on. Clay said Mai found Jan. He's probably our only only chance to survive against the Shadow Lord. AND WHATEVER YOU DO... DON'T TELL HIM WHERE YOU SAW THE POSSESOR OF THE STAFF!" Meanwhile... Clay: "Prepare to eat rock, Shadow Freak!" Clay flings his whip and the Shadow Lord below him toward the rock, and Clay is prepared to land on him. Right before the Shadow Lord lands, he turns into a shadow. Clay panics. Being a possesor of a gem, his body is typically stronger, and he can't be killed this way, but this still was bad. When he landed, he only broke his leg. The Shadow Lord: "Fool... You actually thought you could trick me? You could've just listened... You would've had hope, and got your friend back. Now, I leave you." Clay: "Wait... You really do have Jan?" The Shadow Lord: "Goodbye..." The shadow goes straight towards where the others are. Clay pulls himself on the ground to the bushes, and slowly falls asleep. Clay: "Great... I let... everyone... down..." |

"Okay." she answered. She couldn't believe that she almost failed her friends a moment earlier. What kind of ideas had run through her head at that moment? She swore not to do it again, and followed Whitney.

My name's Nokua, and this is Eny," Nokua said. She looked at the gem on Eny's forehead. It was the whole reason they were out there in the first place; and thinking about it made Nokua sad. "I really don't know why she has that gem on her forehead... It just showed up one day, and, as soon as it had appeared, Eny would yearn to go outside, claiming that there was something...or someone... that was calling to her." Eny had stopped worrying so much about the shadows, and had started dancing in the center of the clearing. Of course, she stayed moderately close to Nokua just in case they came again. |

I nodded. "Same with me-about the same time my wings started forming, it came. Drintarr and the others aren't really sure what it is, either-they just know that it maginifies my level of power for wind." I was almost back to normal, now-my magic was still lower than it had been before, but it was hardly noticeable. Another benifit of being a Twinstar: your magic was darn near unwastable. The bad things about being a Twinstar is that most of the powers haven't been studied closely before-meaning that, if I ever tried to do something new, I might risk killing everyone around me. And the wings were pretty bad news, too.

Mai shows them a dark pod with Jan inside, from where the Shadow Lord had appeared, and claimed he had a staff. Whitney: "Ah, that's fine. I'll break it open! Gem Rod of Feline, send me a release spell!" Whitney shoots a beam directly towards the pod, but it does nothing. A shadow approaches, and we all know who that is. The Shadow Lord: "Ah, I see you've found him!" Mai: "Forget it! We have him now!" The Shadow Lord: "Ah! But do you really?!" As you might see..." The Shadow Lord takes out a staff, and waves it around. The Shadow Lord: "I put him in there whith a staff. There for, the only way to get him out is a staff." Mai: "But how did y--" The Shadow Lord Lifts up his hood, and reveals a black gem. Whitney: "Uh oh. Talk about a worst-case scenario." |

Jade remained silent, looking blankly at the pod in which Jan was lying. She whispered a few words to her gem rod, and Jan's body started to glow in a shade of blue. "There," she said, "at least no dark energy will penetrate his body now." she hid her gem rod in her pocket and thought some more. What could defeat dark energy? Light, of course. But she didn't know the person who possessed that element. Who could possess light powers without necessarily being the one who posessed the whole element? A flash came to her mind. Brandon! He could control every element, though not as strong as others. He had a staff, too. But how could she tell him to come here? She pulled out a small sea shell shaped ocarina and blew in it, and strangely, no sound came out. But farther, at the cascade where she had been earlier, a soft, pure melody was playing, though not seeming to come out of a specific place. The melody was interrupted and Jade's voice could be heard. "Brandon, I need your help!" it said. "please, follow the path coming through the forest and come to the very end. I'll be there, waiting for you." Now, all we have to do is wait, she thought, and hope at least someone heard my message. |

((Oh, I've got an idea for stones on the forehead... How about green means they've got a good heart, and the stone will turn white as soon as they find out what the heck it means, and starts following the Gem King? And purple could be the exact opposite))
