Music Update: Been studying music by ear, particularly video game music. Trying to get a feel for how to portray emotion without pictures or words, what instruments and notes go together, how to make it flow, that sort of thing. Won't know how helpful this has been until I try actually composing later this week.

Hope you have fun composing, Bacon I sure am. Update =D Here's a work in progress sample of what the second part sounds like, which I think will stand alone as a separate piece of music: (classic boss/dungeon music here, I think) boomp3.com/listen/c1nei3qos_hJust to reiterate - download it, don't listen to it on the page because it's distorted! etc. etc. I'm still kind of new to this new orchestration thing, so I'm just experimenting around with all different things. Neither this nor the one I posted before are complete (this one cuts off abruptly xD while the one posted before is in need of different instruments), but, again, you can still have a listen on how it goes.

Bacon- Again, good luck. I, ironically, have the opposite problem. I can think of music that I could use, but being somewhat tone-deaf makes it hard to put it down into an actual composition.
Pacmanite- Just from that little bit, I can already get a feel for the piece. I'm thinking that it will work well in the Mage Manor dungeon. It sounds like a mysterious/magical place, and still has the dark feel needed for a dungeon. That probably makes no sense to anyone who doesn't listen to video game music as much as I do, but trust me, it's a compliment. XD

*peeks* You guys still need a NPC? I could fill up space in Mage Manor. Name: Kat Where Your Character Would Usually Be Found: Mage Manor. Okay, for less specificity, either the Splatterboard or the Guilds board. Description of Personality: My NTWikiF articlePicture or Description: Click here

XDDDDD But since I'm a member of three guilds, you can either place me with the Mages, Pirates and Knights, but I guess it would be more appropriate to put me in the Manor.

Oh, if you need space in Mage Manor, Nova is a mage so he could be there instead of the Spatterboard. =)

Ta-dah! It's the first time I managed to complete a midi =D Here's the mp3 for listening: boomp3.com/listen/c1qje2ixs_j/mage-dungeon(download) I should probably send you the midi version some way. Probably email And I hope it's long enough not to become repetitive in the game, it's only a minute long. But I like it, especially the last 8 bars, with the melody of the glockenspiel (well... it isn't a midi glockenspiel, it's some random other instrument, but it sounds like one) and the tubular bell and string's counter melody underneath it. Wow, now I know that those hours of totally boring Music Theory were not totally useless after all Composing is fun.

Nova- I think I need to get a list of actual locations in my game, because really, the Splatterboard is one of the boards that I have as a part of NTWF Central. (It's mainly Splatterboard and Off-Topic in the main town area, but the buildings can be from other boards) If I need more mages, I'll keep that in mind, though.
Pacmanite- Great! Oh, and I should probably get my e-mail out so people CAN send stuff. XD But I don't usually give it out... Oh, and the 1 minute thing isn't a problem. Most retro video game music loops are about 1 minute. If you think that would be repetitive, you have obviously never played Donkey Kong, it just loops two quarter notes and three eighth notes. (I'm not sure exactly of the notation, but you should get the idea.) When I put the songs in the credits, I'll still credit them as Waltz of the Wintertime parts 1 and 2.

I can also fill up space for the Ninja Dojo (the Ninja Guild), since we're pretty much very few there.
Name: Cat Assassin Where Your Character Would Usually Be Found: Ninja Dojo Description of Personality: A serious anthro that only talks about important matters. Picture or Description: A full anthropomorphic orange cat with a long grey coat, grey pants and shoes.

Oh, that's good, then I'm not much of an expert in videogame music, I'm more of a classical music nerd. Which you might be able to guess from those tracks xD Yeah, a list of all the levels that you think would be in the game so far would be nice. I could write for a more specific sort of atmosphere for each level that way. I've got a rough idea for a tune I could use for the ninja guild level, based on some experience (uhh, through googling and youtube...) with asian music styles: boomp3.com/listen/c1rx5uzi5_z/ninja-guildIt's weird, the traditional melodies are all pentatonic (from a set of five notes that have the same spacing as the five black keys on the piano keyboard, and lack both a major or minor "feel" to them), but the harmony underneath can be major, minor, whatever. This should be a fun one.

(None of them should be too much of spoilers, as I won't get into specifics as to what happens there)

Oh, if you need NPCs for the Ninja HQ, you could probably put PFA there rather than in Tabloid Town. XD; You'd want to use the ninja version though... Name: PFA (ninja version) Where Your Character Would Usually Be Found: Ninja HQ Description of Personality: Usually fairly neutral emotionally, though can get really angry if provoked. Generally likes to solve things peacefully when possible... which isn't often when you're a ninja. Finally, she's loyal to her superiors, and their orders come before personal preference to her. Picture or Description: Here's a ref sheet I made a while back.Other: If ninja PFA is going to interact with Vyt and/or Cat Assassin, she calls the former "Father" and the latter "Uncle." ^_^

I'm thinking it'll probably be more like the music in Strife's NTWF game, or possibly techno. On a similar theme, I didn't get much done this week so it may be some time before I get some music done.
