Yes, I know reading that title had half of you saying Uggh, another one? and the other half saying YAY! Another one! Yes, I'm adding to the list of NTWF games in production. It's not very far in production, but you'll see why in the next paragraph.
The characters in here, besides the one main character, will be on a strictly volunteer basis. If nobody volunteers, the only people in the game will be the main character, me, Dr. Lupe, and Glitchio. It's very hard to work on a game without characters, you see. But before I say what specific positions you can volunteer your persona for, I guess you might want to know what game you're volunteering for, aye?
This game stars a Newbie who joined the NTWF at a bad time. Spammers were coming in armies to the NTWF. The NTWF had to turn off guest posting, but they still kept coming. Accounts were being created faster than they could be deleted. So NTWF security was getting a little tight. It was easy to see that the Newbie wasn't a spammer, but the NTWF wasn't in its best condition. Well Newbie, you're going to get to the bottom of this, and can the flow of spam. *brick'd*
The game locations actually correspond to NTWF boards. Tabloid Town is in there, along with the Guild HQ, a level for every guild, Adoptable Adoption Agency, etc. But I also have ideas for individual topics. I'll come back to that in a moment.
There will NTWF memes galore in here, a Brain Bleach item, riding Jelly Llamas in certain areas, the currency is Shinies... the list could go on but I'm not familiar enough with NTWF memes to think of them off the top of my head.
Now, for the volunteering. Here's the general, golden rule if you're volunteering for my game. No copyrighted characters, I don't wish to be sued. That includes personas that are Neopets. This does not mean you can't be in my game at all, as I'm assuming none of your characters runs around yelling "I'M A NEOPET! COME GET HIM, LAWYERBOT!" The NPC images are so small (20x20 pixels, due to the limitations of my game engine) that as long as it isn't too blatantly obvious, I could probably have you as an NPC, as long as it is never mentioned that you are actually a Neopet. If somebody thinks that my previous statement can still get me in trouble including it or even more trouble than before, let me know, or if I'm being overly paranoid, you could say that too.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, it IS made with a game engine. I know that everyone who coded a game from scratch thinks that I am taking the easy route out, but with the plotscripting language needed to make any kind of mini-game, it's really the first step to learning programming, and everyone needs to start somewhere. But anyways, back to volunteering.
Characters
Rules: These must be frequent characters on the NTWF. Meaning, in Guilds, or notable enough to have a profile in Dramatis Personae. (Even if you yourself aren't a frequent member or don't join guilds, you can still be in, I just don't want people signing up random story characters that have next to nothing to do with the NTWF.)
Random NPCs: Anyone can be a random NPC. If you want to be a random NPC, just fill out this form and post it.
Name:
Where Your Character Would Usually Be Found: This can not be Neopets General or any of the sub-topics of that, because those won't be included in the game.
Description of Personality: For major NPCs, I may work with you over PM where I might say "What would ___ say in this situation?"
Picture or Description: I would prefer a picture, obviously, but because the sprites are so small, I don't need a ton of detail anyways, so a good description would work.
Other:
Specific NPCs: These have specific parts to the story. If you want to be a specific NPC, just put that in the Other category above. The specific NPCs I need are:
Playable Characters: Who will join this Newbie on his quest? Well, I'm hoping Mods/Admins/Mini-Mods, but if I don't get enough response from them, I'll open this to anyone. I need one playable character from each Guild. Just fill out this form and post it. If there's more than one volunteer per guild, I'll have a poll for the playable character.
Name:
Guild:
Description of Personality: I will probably be working with you over PM to determine how the character acts in certain situations, but this is so I don't have to PM you every time your character says anything.
Picture or Description: Picture is definitely preferred, as the battle sprites are larger than the map sprites, so there will be more detail.
Do you want to be the starting party member?: The starting party member will show you around the NTWF and explain how everything works. They'll take you to get your Diary and Scrapbook, show you how to battle the NTWF way, and other things. I'd prefer that someone other than the Merc does this, as I have a different plan for the Merc character joining.
If your character is chosen to be playable, then I will PM and we will plan out the different attacks and weapons your character can use.
Topics and Other
These are a combination of volunteering and me asking you if I can use your topic in my game. If you have a really notable topic, I'll PM you asking for permission to use it. There are no forms to fill out here, just link to the topic.
Forum Events: If you think it could work as a mini-game, suggest it.
Adoptables: Adoptables are the summons in this game. No adoptables means no summons. No summons means no watching Hunter struggle to make a cool summon animation.
Forum Games: If you think it should be included as a mini-game, suggest it! I probably won't turn it down. (Note: I am not including The Game... which I just lost. TAG YOU'RE IT! )
NTWF Banners: Did you make a banner that could translate well into plain text? Well, post a picture here and I'll probably include it. (Note: Please don't just link to jadephoenix.org/NTWF/randsig.php. Thanks.)
Other: Any other topic that you think can easily be worked into the game.
Music:
Because Hunter and a Software Synthesizer will destroy your ears. Think I'm exagerating? Listen to this. (NOTE: It's a midi, so just clicking the link will probably download it). Feel free to contribute anything. There are so many different areas, I'd probably find a place to use your song somewhere. (If you are making it for a specific place, like the Moon or Mage Manor, tell me that.)
I'll continue to update this topic with more info and progress as this goes on.
Final Thoughts: While I may not have any sort of release date yet, there will not be a final version until the Mysterious Manor Tournament is over, as I plan to incorporate it into my game.
Also, I don't know how much response I'll get from this, due to me being a fairly new member, so this game may be canceled if there is no response. Again, hard to make a game without characters.

- NTWF Central- This is the main area of the game. Most games have it, whether it's Traverse Town in Kingdom Hearts, Toad Town in Paper Mario, or something else in some other game, this is where you come back to often. NTWF Central is a mix of Forum Events, Off Topic, Positive Spin, Banter Board, Splatterboard... basically the main area where anyone can chat about anything. The buildings included are:
- Diary Library- The Diary Library is full of Scrapbooks, a locked room with the Time Capsules, Dramatis Personae profiles, and, of course, the diaries. In the game, there's Spacefleet technology that allows you to update your diary that you carry with you, and it is also updated in the library. Pretty nifty. That's mostly so I can allow for a Kingdom Hearts-esc Journal feature. The boards included here should be self-explanatory.
- Official NTWF Shop- With permission from Leoness, the shop in NTWF Central is none other than the Official NTWF Shop! Selling common items like Brain Bleach and Cookies, and also selling more specialized items like NTWF toques, gloves, and scarves, this is the perfect place to stock up before going on an adventure.
- Times Lobby- Now, while I can't refer to it as the Neopian Times without getting Lawyerbot'd, I can call it the Times, which fits the name of this area perfectly. It includes (hopefully, I need to ask permission) Patjade and Droplet's desk (representing NT Staff Call and Issues and Inquiries), a 'Times Times' Stand (Which would usually include Previews and Reviews, but because of the spammer invasion, nobody is writing for that, just current NTWF news) and a few people wandering around or reading the Times or Times Times.
- Forum Gates- A very small area, but an important one. It literally just consists of a small area outside the gates of the forum, and the friendly Sign-Up Bot. There's really no reason (and probably going to be no way) to return to the gates later, but it starts your adventure.
- Writer's Workshop- Despite the name, it really includes everything under The Editor's Mark, plus Collaborations. It's basically a building with some comfy bean bags and some books. There are also little presentation rooms, and I'm thinking of a way to include the Bank Bank in here.
- Art Studio- Includes The Art Studio, Art 101, and Request and Trades. I guess it could include a bit of the other Artist's Alley boards. Very similar to the Writer's Workshop above, but with paintings on the walls and sculptures scattered around.
- Adoptable Adoption Agency- A whole building for adoptables. Forumers run their stands, offering a choice between some variations of their adoptables. You choose one, you can summon it. You may need to complete a quest to earn a certain adoptable.
- Club Zone- It's a little area with clubhouses in it.
- The Various Club Buildings- These will probably all have the same music, for simplicities sake. The clubs on the forum are pretty much all of copyrighted things, so I'll have to think of imaginary clubs to put in here.
- Guild HQ- But Guilds aren't clubs! I know. Each Guild even has it's own location. BUT, I needed somewhere to put the HQ. It's a MASSIVE building in Club Zone, at the very back. This is where you sign up for a Guild, and the paths to Dunburrow, the Merc Bunker, and the Ninja Dojo are here, along with the teleporters to the Moon and Mage Manor, and a path to the docks where you can get on the
White Weewoopirate ship. *shiftyeyes*

- Tabloid Town- I couldn't exclude Tabloid Town, now could I? I haven't really thought of locations inside the 'Bloids yet, though...
- Mage Manor- The home of the mages. I won't post the rooms of the manor yet, as I have to ask for permission on a lot of them.
- Pirate Ship- Not the White Weewoo, sorry. Big Lawyerbot is always watching. See Mage Manor for why I'm not posting individual parts.
- Ninja Dojo- Home of the ninjas. See Mage Manor for why I'm not posting individual parts.
- Castle Kestrel- Sorry, I can't include all of Dunburrow as that would be the largest map in the game, and wouldn't be fair to other guilds. As it is, Kestrel is probably one of the larger areas. See Mage Manor for why I'm not posting individual parts.
- NTWF's Moon- Home of the Spacefleet base. See Mage Manor for why I'm not posting individual parts.
- Merc Bunker- The home of the Mercernaries. See Mage Manor for why I'm not posting individual parts.
- Final Boss Dungeon- No, that isn't the name of the area. I'll post a more detailed description later, but it's an expansive area, if all goes right, the largest in the game, including the different parts to it.
Feel free to post any questions or comments.
