Gamecube had Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, which I tried and wasn't impressed with... umm... :3 Xbox 360 has its own version of XI, and Wii is getting new Crystal Chronicles I think- two, in fact, with the WiiWare one coming. Yeah, but those don't count. All the GOOD FF games with 3D GRAPHICS have thus far been exclusive to Sony. >_> Does FFXI work on Macs? >_>; 'Cause I had the impression it was Windows only, but I dunno. On the topic of lesser-played FF games, how many of you have played IX? I haven't ever really seen much of a fanbase behind it, but maybe I just haven't looked hard enough. Don't know, check the FF Wiki, Amazon, and eBay. As I said before, all I've played is VII and V. I can't remember how far we got in VII, but it was at least disc four. I never got far in V, though(Stupid Siren.). Wait, where was I? Oh yes, so I haven't actually played IX, but I know a thing or two about it(let's see... one, two... three things). I think part of the reason IX's fanbase might not be as big as other FFs is because the graphics are a bit cartoony. Not like low-poly count Cloud is cartoony, more like a chibi Batman comic book is cartoony and out of place compared to the rest of the saga. As a side note, IX is visually sort of the opposite of XII, with its short, childlike protagonists and bright colors, compared to XII's muted yet vivid color scheme and tall, thin humanoid protagonists.

>_> Am I like the only one who likes Crystal Chronicles? I mean, at least the fact that you can do multiplayer is pwnsome... the story I haven't gotten very far into yet, but anything story-based AND multiplayer = much awesome to me, considering how me and my sis tend to play the same games anyway.
Anyway, according to a quick Google search, it doesn't look like there's going to be FFXI for Mac. D: Apparently "MMORPGs aren't popular on Macs." Then why, must I ask, does everyone keep asking for them to be ported to Macs? *sigh*
And I'm apparently not picky at all when it comes to graphic quality. XDDDD;; I never really thought of the FFVII graphics as bad. Old perhaps, but not bad. Maybe I'm weird that way.

They didn't look bad for the time at which they were released, that's true. But if you played a bunch of the more recent games and then went and played VII... they fail in comparison. But as much as a ten year difference in technology will do that to a game. And as a sidenote, one of the best characters ever invented by the FF series? ;D

FF VII has three discs, not four... Heh, I knew that. *headdesk* It's been, what, five years at least since I've seen the actual physical game, so I think a little slip of the mind is understandable. And I'm apparently not picky at all when it comes to graphic quality. XDDDD;; I never really thought of the FFVII graphics as bad. Old perhaps, but not bad. Maybe I'm weird that way. It's not that they're bad, it's just that a visual overhaul would be much appreciated. And yeah, it sort of depends on a person's preferences. Do you prefer 2D, Low-poly, High-poly, or HD?

Shiny realistic graphics are nice on the eyes, yes, but I'd just as easily take a game with characters that look like misshapen dough blobs, if the gameplay/story was good enough. *shrug*

It's not that they're bad, it's just that a visual overhaul would be much appreciated. And yeah, it sort of depends on a person's preferences. Do you prefer 2D, Low-poly, High-poly, or HD? The reason everyone wants a remake is simple. We all want to see scenes as memorable as this (FFVII SPOILER) looking more like this (Crisis Core SPOILER) Really, though, FFVII could greatly benefit from the expressive characters that current-day Squenix excels at - something that wasn't even available in high-quality FMV (for games, so not counting Pixar movies) 11 years ago. And high-poly is the minimum standard for that. (2D still looks good, yes, but it's hard to make a little sprite expressive due to its size; low-poly is a bit better in terms of expressiveness - see FFIII and FFIV DS for that - but ages really badly) Speaking of FFVII... it (...or, well, its universe) inspired me to make this really odd meta-comic: My own comment: "Are you sure that's the only thing they were shooting?" ...yeah, I'm weird. xD Though meta-oddness always helps with acceptance of character death. (If you're wondering why Zack's so happy about it... I got the idea from actor interviews in which the actor says that it's fun to die onscreen x3) On a non-FFVII-related note... someone managed to tape the extended FF Versus XIII trailer off of a TV in the Square-Enix store. =O That thing the Prince does with the spear is made of win. xD

May I join in the conversation here? =D
A remake of VII could be pretty awesome, but I might not mind if they just left the graphics as they are. Some of my favorite parts of that game are when the not-so-great graphics are kicked up a notch. (Although, a few more movie cut scenes would make me extremely happy. xD)
I sort of understand why IX doesn't have a large fanbase, but personally, IX is my favorite of the three Playstation one games. ^_^ I love those characters! (...But if I can complain about it, that final boss is horrible. Not only is he a little too easy to beat, but he isn't much of a character and doesn't even go with the FF tradition of final bosses having multiple stages. Boo.... =0)
I like the way you drew the cartoon, Ikkin! ^^ (Well, minus the blood, but that's just me.) = )

FFVII or IX I enjoyed much more, even if the quality of their graphics are a step below. No XIII for the PS2 is saddening, though. D: And I've played III, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII, and FFTA2. I have XI, but haven't used it yet; you need a credit card to sign up, apparently. >_>;

Mkay, I need FF8 help. XDD;;;; I'm at the part on Disc 2 where Galbadia Garden is invading Balamb Garden, and I've had the cutscene where Rinoa's falling off the edge of it. So Zell and co. run back to get Squall, right, and then control switches to Squall. And I have NO clue what to do next. Sad thing is, I've already done much of this, but died and had to restart from my last save point, which was ages and ages ago... And there was this hand-to-hand combat thing between Squall and a Galbadian soldier, but I can't seem to trigger that event, which seems to be what I have to do next. D: (I've already saved the kids in the classroom.) And I've been running round in circles in that hallway practically screaming "hey, Galbadia Garden, come and get me~~" and nothing happens XD;;; It's kind of embarrassing. >.>; I've been amusing myself with FF12 in the meantime, though, which is lots of fun. :3

(Although, a few more movie cut scenes would make me extremely happy. xD) You can still kick the graphics up a notch even if it doesn't look not-so-great to begin with, y'know. Plus, better graphics allows them to turn most of the main plot's text into the equivalent of movie cutscenes, with virtual acting in place of text and pantomime. Point of comparison again (huge spoilers, woo!), the Nibelheim Incident in FFVII vs. the Nibelheim Incident in Crisis Core. Subtle movement can really make a scene like that, even if it isn't explosive enough to warrant an FMV (and they're never gonna be able to use enough FMV to cover all the scenes that could benefit). ...they also apparently forgot that Sephiroth's left-handed when they made the original version. XDIX is pretty awesome. =D First FF I played. ^_^ ...though you must have been playing a different game if you thought Necron was easy. XD Grand Cross (that awful status effect move) stinks. xP There were multiple stages, though - it's just that the first one was Kuja. Thanks. ^_^ I don't really like blood either, it's just the only way the concept makes any sense. xD

Then run to the place with the emergency exit door (where you met the White SeeDs) to trigger the event. If you can't get that, try talking to everyone on the bridge. You might have missed something. And I never had that much trouble with Grand Cross, Ikkin. Mostly because I I often got stuff like Trouble.

And I never had that much trouble with Grand Cross, Ikkin. Mostly because I I often got stuff like Trouble. Lucky. >>; I kept getting stuff like Zombie, which made it really hard to recover after the big attack that always followed it. -_- And now it's time for Ikkin's Final Fantasy report on DKΣ3713. ^_^ First, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, which used to be the mobile phone title that everyone ignored... is no longer a mobile title, and therefore no longer needs to be ignored. ^_^ It's a PSP game now, using the Crisis Core engine, and is far enough into development that they showed gameplay footage in the trailer. In case no one remembers anything about it, it's set in a magic school protected by a crystal, which is under attack by an expansionist military. There's a whole ton of characters, who are currently only known by the names of their weapons, and you get to pick whichever one you want. It's apparently an action-RPG in the vein of Crisis Core, with a cooperative mode being a major part (unknown whether this is online or local; it used to be online in the mobile version). 1UP and IGN both have descriptions of the trailer shown. Second, Dissidia: Final Fantasy had multiple character confirmations as well as a playable demo. Onion Knight, Cloud of Darkness, Golbez, Ex-death, and Kefka were all shown, which brings the known roster to: FF: Warrior of Light vs. Garland FFII: Firion vs. Palamecia FFIII: Onion Knight vs. Cloud of Darkness FFIV: ? vs. Golbez FFV: ? vs. Exdeath FFVI: ? vs. Kefka FFVII: ? vs. Sephiroth FFVIII: Squall vs. Ultimecia FFIX: Zidane vs. Kuja FFX: Tidus vs. Jecht There's a translated transcript of the Dissidia trailer, which also hints at some of the heroes that may be involved (for instance, Kefka's mention of a mysterious "she" suggests that Terra might be the FFVI hero, which would be nice, 'cause the game needs more girls. Sephiroth's puppet reference pretty much confirms that Cloud is the VII hero, not that that needed confirming). IGN and 1UP both have gameplay impressions from the demo. Dissidia also has gained a release date for this December in Japan. Third is Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which is apparently coming along better than they've let on. In-game footage of Versus was shown for the first time, both exploring part of the world in the field (which, apparently, looked rather much like Olympus, and may have been a coliseum) and a short real-time cutscene that was added to the trailer. It looked astounding according to 1UP; IGN apparently failed to notice that the scene was any different from the rest, considering they only find it important because of the new character revealed in it. Neither site mentioned the field footage, though there's been some suggestion that the press can't talk about it. The trailer finished up with "For PS3 Only Worldwide," which suggests to me that they really want to shut up the people saying it'll go multi-platform like FFXIII. Fourth is Final Fantasy XIII itself, which also had some in-game footage shown - like Versus, both in the trailer and outside on the floor. The field footage is particularly interesting, because it confirms several things about how the game will work. The field itself is described as an evolution of the field in FFXII, which suggests lots of open areas, full camera control, and possibly enemies on the map (though there was no fighting in the clip). It's also been mentioned that Lightning will have the ability to jump and roll on the field itself, even though fighting will take place separately from the field. IGN has a description of the trailer. It's set for a release sometime in '09. Finally is Advent Children Complete and its big surprise - there's going to be a demo for FFXIII included on a separate disk. It's also apparently gained about 30 minutes of new material and has been entirely re-rendered so the characters get dirty and bruised by fighting rather than staying impossibly perfect. It's set for release in Japan for March '09, which seems to set an early bound for FFXIII's release. While it's a Japanese disk, US and Japan share a region code for Blu-ray and PS3 disks don't have region coding at all, so the demo should work anywhere. There's been no pictures at all from the event, since Squenix seems to have some kind of crystal that wards off cameras, but the Japanese magazine Famitsu PS3 is supposed to have a large feature on the show in their August 19th issue, which should probably show at least some of the new stuff. All that exists for visual reference currently is this very nicely done piece of fanart by someone who saw the trailers; several of the characters from FFXIII and Agito XIII are pictured there. (The Dissidia picture is of Ultimecia in Griever form) And... that's about that. ^_^ I hope you like.

Not that I have time to play yet another FF game anyway, but I am totally hating the fact that I don't have PS3. XDDD Stuff looks awesome, though AND ADVENT CHILDREN. YEY.
I didn't know that blu-ray had US and Japan in the same region code. o-o;; that is SO reason enough to get blu-ray XD
