if anybody else looking for other way to help here's a copy and paste of the how to help section on the NTRA.
There are many ways to help the Neopian Times gain publicity. The simplest, and one of the most effective things you can do is put a button on your user lookup that will take the clicker to the Neopian Times, and/or to this page. You can get those buttons here.
If you don’t have space for a button you can always put a text plug on your page, or in your siggie.
Once you’ve done that you may still want to help out. That’s splendid, thank you very much. Here are some things that NTRA always needs. Flashy and pretty buttons make this movement possible, so we always need more buttons and banners. If you’re not the artistic type catchy text slogans also make good buttons.
If you’ve got a favorite author or article that you want to share with others you can neomail me the link so I can put it up in our highlights section.
If you’re a writer or an artist maybe you want to put a little note or sketch on this page to show your support.
Still want to help more? That’s tremendous, PM me, and we can talk, or just post another post here.

Oooh, this whole "favourite authors" section gave me an idea. Link back buttons are kind of static; even though they're pretty, people usually take quite a bit of convincing to put them up (it's something like a "can't-be-bothered" syndrome). But you could make it so that the users can customise the buttons to support their favourite authors, say by making it a pretty notepad or something with "I Support" written at the top and then a list of authors names each linking to their relevant NT search page (and a link at the top or bottom that leads to the NTRA). It could be coded to look like one of the shop blogs that Neo releases which have an image and a little text box floating within it. (I think Neo uses tables to make it, which is a bit of a pain because it requires a pretty long code, but at least it works in all browsers iirc) Actually it reminds me of the pet directory "repainted and proud" (started a while before Neopets v2, but still going strong), whose link back buttons were all fully editable to show exactly what colours your pet had been repainted and how much it cost in total. The users could all display each of their individual tastes, and that made them more willing to use that particular linking button than they would be if it was just a standard image (though ordinary images are still good). Hmmm... and also, I think it would be best for your cause to have most of the buttons linking to your petpage rather than straight to the NT. Petpages are more likely to grab people's attentions than links to TNT pages that they might have seen before, in their own time, and as long as there's a very large gigantic link to the NT really visible on the top of the petpage... Speaking of which, where d'you reckon the link to the NT should go? Maybe I could make some part of the image at the top into a link. Like, maybe there could be a pile of rolled up newspapers next to the weewoo, and one of the newspapers - a particularly conspicuous one in the middle - says something on its cover like, "READ THE LATEST ISSUE OF THE NT" and when you hover your mouse over it, the image changes slightly. Like the image links in NMagazine clothing catalogue. I could make it appear to change to a lighter colour, or make it suddenly change size or something.  |

I have buttons linking both strait to the NT and the pet page, so readers can choose. I love the "I support" banners idea. That roll over news paper idea sounds AMAZING! wow! But I don't want to dump more work on your plate than you want, but if you're up for it, SUPER. And thanks SO much for all this help! *edit*The page is now up www.neopets.com/~zaff_Remember the most helpful thing you can do is put up links back to the page(as Pacmanite said) and/or to the neopian times. But I would also love more buttons! |

What I've done for the layout so far: Not at its final size, but you can still see how it's going on. Maybe next weekend I can colour it in. But I'll need to get the NT excerpts before I will start on the background. So.. If you would like to have an excerpt of your story, article, or series embedded in the layout (free fame! lol), please pm me or post here. Thanks! As said before, it'd be part of a collaged background. And you'll be credited for it, I believe. |

Ooh, I would love to participate in this! I can't code for beans but if it is buttons you want, it is buttons you will get even if they are a bit basic *no photoshop'd* XD Pacmanite, one cheesy story extract coming your way. ^_^; It is from The Quetzal Ring by me (macana on Neopets) ...ok...don't hurt me. ^_^;; EDIT: I made a little button which is a bit basic but I like it... Feel free to use an exerpt from one of my stories as well. I'm not picky either, so you can just choose one at random, maybe from Roomies or Roomies 2.  And WOW! The image looks great so far! ;D |
