They once tried feeding me live octopus. Well, is WAS live. They chop up the tentacles and you are supposed to eat it while it's still wriggling. I tried ONE, but the suckers kept clinging to the roof of my mouth. It was one meal that fought back... I was happy to let it win... Oh. . . my. . . god. Ergh. . yet another vegeterian horror story.

Oh. . . my. . . god. Ergh. . yet another vegeterian horror story. As I said, I am adventurous, and will try almost anything... once. Survival training teaches one NOT to be too picky. Not every location you end up at has a McDonald's or even a garden, let alone a salad bar restaurant. The sad thing is that I have read of people starving in a pine forest, not knowing that pine needles are quite edible, and quite tasty...

OK - I've tried alligator too - down by Key Largo. I don't recall it being anything special. Key Lime pie is better.
Linnen - by Hammas to you mean Hummus or Hallah? Both are good when prepared by a good chef, and neither of them are what I was thinking of. Both are quite availible in America. I meant Israeli JUNK FOOD! (and Frito Lay can go to hell)

Fortunately my culture (Mexican) is fairly normal in food, pork, beans, rice, corn, chickens.... that sort of thing. Although we do have some rather interesting candies... I've had salted dried prunes and apricots (I love them), a black paste of sorts (I forget the name now) but its not so great, guava paste (which I'm eating right now) and so on... Theres this sauce called mole which is spicy and has chocolate in it (I'm going to be making that for my poor American husband sometime this week... ehehe...) One weird and kind of gross eatting habbit that some Mexicans have (including me) is eatting things with salt, chilie and lemon on top of them. Its how I eat most of my fruits and veggies. I had an orange the other day with salt on it while at my in-laws house and they looked at me like I was eatting a chicken head or something. Not *too* gross, I don't think...

In fact, willow bark was used as a pain reliever for centuries. There are books available that can help you identify such things, and you can amaze your friends when you go camping.

Yeah, I knew about the willow bark: I read Tamora Pierce and she mentions it occasionally. But there are no willows at any of our usual campsites. If there were, Briteny wouldn't have had to suffer just because her mom didn't SPECIFICLY say that she was allowed to take tilanol.

Well! You people have certainly out-tried me in the strange food category. ^^ Nevertheless, here are a few foods I've tried, most mentioned earlier:
- Sushi. (I hate sushi! It's not exactly the taste, but the thought, 'Eeww, raw fish! Not cooked! Yuck!' I prefer kappamaki {cucumber roll...mmmmm.}) - Pocky. (I love pocky! My favorite was that type dipped in chocolate and almonds. They don't sell that where I live, though.) - Tofu (Eh...I'm a bit indifferent when it comes to tofu. I have tried tofu cheese and tofu frozen yogurt, (yumm), but that's about all.)
Well, that's about it. I am NOT the 'don't-knock-it-till-you-try-it' type. Quite the contrary, actually. I do love pickles, though, which I was initially skeptical about eating.
I knew that pine needles were edible. Actually, I think I ate a few when I was younger. ^^ I remember at my old school there was a fence with honeysuckles growing along the sides. We always ate them in the springtime. There would be a whole fence-full of flowers at first, and after a while, there would only be about ten left.
I didn't participate in that often. Mainly because there were bees over by the fence, and I HATE BEES! I've never been stung before, but I didn't want to start then!
Anyways, I'm ranting about bees. Ignore me.

Wow... every one of you outdid me. I remember at an Army party (I have a family member in the National Guard, and they have Christmas parties for the families) that I once only ate a buttered roll because all of the food was too gross, and you'd probably have everything there on your plates. I also dislike MREs. But once I found M & Ms in them!
My daily food: Breakfast (if I eat it)--Carnation Instant Breakfast (chocolate) Lunch-- peanut butter (no jelly or fluff) sandwich and lemba or granola bar Dinner-- some chicken pot pie, taco, or hamburger/hot dog
And, besides maybe potato chips and chocolate, I don't eat anything else. I've been a finicky eater forever, and my jaw snaps when I chew. If ever I get lost in the woods, I'd starve.

I remember having this weird green pocky once... it was'nt too good. I perfer regular pocky myself, but usally will eat it till I get sick.
Last time we went to Disney World we went looking for Pocky men (which they usually had in stock). Unfortunately they ran out and re-stock monthly (I think thats what she said).
Never ask for a bento box in Disney World, even in the stores in the Japan area, they'll just laugh at you.

The strangest pocky flavor I've seen is white chocolate. ^^ That kind I really like I've only found at Walt Disney World...I also got an sakura-print umbrella there. Wait, I think I have seen something along the lines of kiwi-flavored pocky somewhere...is that what you had?

I never heard of a Bento box. They are called Pocky here. Of course, some things are named differently. "Pokemon" is called "Pocket Monsta" when you translate the hangul spelling. I think that was the original name, but somebody in the States decided "Pocket Monster" wasn't "Anime" or "Cute" enough. And then there were all the copycats...
