Heh. The most unusual (for where I live) foods that I've had are: Broiled eel with rice and seaweed all wrapped up together--that was really, really good. Rice with a seaweed-based spice on it--my second cousin's grandparents were born in Japan (maybe his parents...I'm not sure), and he and his family serve rice a lot with this stuff. It's really good, even better than normal steamed rice, which is one of my favorite foods. Fried frog legs--they taste like bland fish, but look more like chicken. They tasted best with shrimp or tartar sauce ^^ Octopus--ick. It was all rubbery and very bland... Dandelion stems--ick. I'm not a fan of bitter, mostly. That's about the extent of my unusal-food experience; I'll try nearly anything once, but I don't get much opportunity to. How can anyone dislike bananas?! Green olives and pickles are definitely things to avoid, as are water chestnuts, but I can't think of many fruits I hate...

Pocky! Oh, Jeeze, that stuff is EVERYWHERE here! And in 100 flavors, it seems. I kinda like the chocolate dipped pretzel ones. Yeah, I went into a Chiniese market near my home and found probably about 20 diffrent varities. They have had men's pocky (same thing as normal, it's just made for men).

*laughs* no, I won't kill you. Sorry to disappoint you! Once at a class at summer school the teacher brought in tiny squid for us to eat. Just the sight of it scarred me for life, and I decided not to even try it. Several people did try it, all of them spit it out. One boy (a LITLE guy) ran around with bulging cheeks like he was going to throw up. We panicked and put a garbage can in front of him then started laughing when out came the squid - whole. But the people who were wise enough not to try their squids carried them around for the rest of the day and jiggled them in front of my face whenever they got the opprotunity. Needless to say, it wasn't exactly the best day of my life.

Live squid... BLECK, I hope it wasn't live. Cooked and shreaded and stuffies are a lot better, especially for a nice little snack..

oddest things I've ever eaten are alligator and cougar from a sampler that some hunter friend of my dad's sent over for christmas. I think I'll stick to the store-variety meats....

No, the squid weren't live. But they were whole. I don't know whether they were raw or cooked just a bit. . .

. . . I don't mind cooked squid, as long as it's fully cooked . . . It's actually quite yummy when it's cooked. But squid is seafood, so that DOES mean it's once been free, right? . . .

They chop up the tentacles and you are supposed to eat it while it's still wriggling. I tried ONE, but the suckers kept clinging to the roof of my mouth. It was one meal that fought back... I was happy to let it win...
