It would be nice to see some new faces in the Times, but if it did a 180 overnight, I'd feel just a tad bit disturbed...
Besides, some things are just icons of the Times. If you get rid of them, just dosen't feel like the Times...;_;

If you get rid of them, just dosen't feel like the Times...;_; I know. If it had a new layout, that would be cool, but I'm glad no one decided to permanantly quit writing for the Times after Josh stopped being the editor. I'm guessing that the regular authors will still be published if they keep up their present standards, but the Times has always been at least 85% funny and 95% informative, and it'll probably stay similarly.

Just to get myself on the record here:
The main reason I didn't get anything into the NT was because I didn't SUBMIT anything until Thursday... so either she didn't get it, didn't get it in time, or.... pick your favorite.
The past week I've been sooo offline it isn't even funny. At least the latest Wheel of Time book took up a few days.
I've not given up writing for the Times totally (and I still have a two part series already written and ready to submit) but the creative juices and desire have been at a pretty low ebb the past few days.
Ah well, give it time.

Scriptfox, you should be called King of the Times. If al got something in this week, he's the top dude, but even if you're second, you're still the second-most published Times person out of thousands, on what is probably the most famous newsletter on the internet. So I think you rightfully deserve a break. We won't forget you-- huh? What was I talking about again? J/k. Hey, just an idea from an insomniac (who is too lazy to get some ibuprofin), but why should we wait until someone (like Josh) leaves to shower him or her with praise and thanks? Josh was pretty much uncomplimented before he left, always being blamed for the Times being late (when it was really Donna's fault) or for someone's submission not getting in. Why don't we start a compliment board for everyone who's still here now?

Both an interesting point and an interesting idea, Leb.
OKAY. Josh must have passed some things over to Felicia, because i send in my comics three at a time. The first one got in, Josh left, the second is in this week. So Felicia is still putting out my "regular" comic.
This info may or may not be useful.

Felabba is absolutely right.
Last week, while Josh was working on NT 75, he began setting aside a bunch of stuff that he liked for NT 76, and had Felicia start working on this week's issue in advance (since it was her first attempt, he wanted to give her as much time as possible). As a result, most of the stuff in NT 76 (please don't ask me to quantify--although I would guess that it was certainly more than half) was submitted before Wednesday the 22nd. For all you "regulars" who got left out of NT 76, it's not because Felicia was trying to "clean the slate"; it's just that, due to the fact that she was working mostly with Josh's pre-Jan. 22 picks, a lot of your submissions that came in after 1/22 will end up in NT 77.
I'm glad that just about everyone has been really upbeat about giving Felicia a chance; Josh's departure left a huge pair of shoes to fill as the Times Editor, but I've been amazed by how quickly she's been picking things up (then again, she had an incredible teacher like Josh to show her the ropes). Please bear in mind that, for the first few weeks, she might be a little behind in reading everyone's submissions. However, I assure you that as time passes, Felicia's only going to get better. With the release of each issue, she'll be learning how to do things automatically that, for now, she has to do one step at a time. As the process for proofreading, formatting and uploading gets faster, Felicia will have much more time to review submissions.
Oh, before I go... I've noticed that there's quite a bit of Donna bashing on these boards. I'd just like to say that, more often than not, I'M the one who's responsible for the delays, not Donna. Take this week, for example... due to the fact that I spent a lot of this week (and almost all of yesterday) scrambling to cover things that I normally wouldn't have to do, I didn't even get to start writing the News Brief until late Friday evening. However, by 9:30 PM, I was absolutely exhausted. I called Donna and asked her if, rather than staying here 'til 3:00 AM, if it would be okay if I came in and finished the News Brief on Saturday afternoon (to which she said okay)... so, if any of you are inclined to blame anybody, feel free to blame me.
Thanks for supporting the Times, and especially, thanks for caring so much!
Mister Pickles aka El Picklesaur aka Darrell@Neopets.com
PS: I don't always read all of it, and I might not read it every week, but yeah... I read the Times.

Hi Mr. Pickles/El Picklesaur/Darrell (how shall we call you?)! Thanks very much for responding. I guess that puts a lot of questions to rest. PS: I don't always read all of it, and I might not read it every week, but yeah... I read the Times. Out of curiosity though, would you know who else among the staff reads the Times? Idle question really.

Out of curiosity though, would you know who else among the staff reads the Times?I'd really like to give you a decent answer, but in all honesty I'm really not sure. Can I ask around and get back to you on that one? Speaking of "Does anybody read?", do any of you read The Neopian News Brief? I never see it mentioned in anyone's reviews. I'm sure lots of people look at it and say, "Oh, it's just a rehashed version of New Features," but I really do put a lot of effort into it. My goal is to take each week's top stories and infuse them with perspective, humour, advice, and the occasional well turned phrase. Since y'all are such avid readers, I'd really be interested in hearing what you think... Hi Mr. Pickles/El Picklesaur/Darrell (how shall we call you?)!Any of those three is fine, as long as it's not accompanied by a string of expletives

In that case... I hope mine is part of 77 that's the year i was born (sorta) 1977... god, i feel old I think she'll get the hang of it. Provided she doesn't get too infected with the insanity that goes on in this board.

Hi Mr. Pickles/Darrell, or however you wish to be called!
Thank you for clarifying things for us. I am sure many were wondering what was happening, and may happen with the NT under new editorship.
Please feel free to register and make yourself at home here at the Forum. I assure you that MOST of us don't bite, and sometimes a friendly word, or two, goes a long way.
Again, welcome!

Speaking of "Does anybody read?", do any of you read The Neopian News Brief? I never see it mentioned in anyone's reviews. OK, to be honest, I have looked at it a time or two, but I have a bad habit of skipping it over because it's kinda buried in the bottom corner of the front page. Perhaps it needs a tab at the top, along with the others? And I am sure that now that you have personified it, the people here will take notice and take time to actually READ and REVIEW it. But be careful of what you ask for, since some of the reviewers can be merciless.

Hey Darrel! To be honest, I never read the News Brief. It's just that it has such an unnactractive link, and so at the bottom, that only sometimes i will notice it, and when I did notice it, I wouldn't even click, because I thought "How new can this be? I read the news page..." But you can be sure I will read it from now on! Just knowing that your effort was put into it makes it worth reading. Thanks for stopping by!
As for this week's issue... Well, it felt so weird to see so many new names and hardly any regulars... Really, it was like I was reading something else, something otehr than the Neopian Times... That might be due to this forum, though. It's such a strong community, that sometimes I view the NT as being our, forgetting that there are actually other people who submit and like the NT as we do. Anyway, Felicia didn't do a bad job, did she?

Hi, Mr. Pickles! Thanks for dropping by! Wowwie, I read all four pages. I have to admit, I've read the Brief a few times before (about 2 ), but I'll be sure to read more from now on! It's out, it's out! Except that Neopets is down for maintenance -.-;; Greeat. Hum, after reading four pages, that's all I've got to say. I know there's something I missed, but what? Oh well.

those who didn't know what happened at the live chat, someone caused a ruckus and shidi linked their "IP" address to me, and when I insisted that it wasn't me I was ridiculed, but a friend of mine from school said that it might not even be the IP address of my computer, but my internet provider's server code. If that's right, anyone in my area would've had the same code. What TK was talking about was when last night I brought up a rumor about Felicia trying to take down the "regulars" system. Being who I am, I ended up saying it in an offensive way and a few other people started jumping on me. Then TK seconded what I said, and things just got worse because we both then had to defend ourselves, offending even more people with how we ended up choosing our words. Anyway, it wasn't pleasant, but I'm glad that the whole issue is cleared up now. I hope my story gets into Issue 77. Oh, Mr. Pickles? Does Felicia know about Josh's dung obsession? It was kind of a part of my story (which is about her first two days at the NT office) and if she doesn't she probably now thinks that I am crazy because. . . well. . . anyway. *cough*
