"What do you feel now?" Saly asked, placing more apples on her friend's horns.
"Windy, sunny, 17 degrees C in Meridell. No chance of rain. That's all!" Mr. Spooked answered, trying to find that same feeling he had when he saw the Citadel, but until now...no luck so far. Saly and Mr. Spooked had been testing different positions around Meridell since then, they have been to Cheeseroller, the old petpets shop and now they were standing in front of Illusen's glade.
"You know what I think?" The lupe asked. "We need more apples!"

"And who are you two, listening in on matters of the Citadel, hmm?" Galgarroth stomped in between Saeryennan, Xandra, and Darigan's entourage.
"Oh, they're friends of me, and I'm a friend of Darigan's friend, soooooo...." Sirocco smirked, before snatching up Galgarroth's dagger to lead the Grarrl away.
"Whuh - GIVE THAT BACK, YOU PUNY THIEF!" Galgarroth ran after the Skunks Zafara, his footsteps shaking the walls of the castle.
In the throne room, Skarl was busy watching his servants prepare a mid-afternoon feast for him and whichever nobles he felt like invitiing today. "Yes, place those Blurgah steaks over there, they were imported from Shenkuu. The suckiling Pygui goes over there you idiots! And over there goes the - GET THAT PEASANT OUT OF EHRE!"
A Brown Quiggle messenger ran into the room, knocking over the maid carrying the Wibreth egg omelettes. "Your highness! I have something... urgent to tell you." His breathing was harsh and rasped, as if he was in pain. Indeed he was; three poison-tipped arrows were sticking out of his back. "Kass... Has... Returned." The Quiggle collapsed, and at his words, all the lords and ladies - especially the king himself - flew into a panic!
"ORDER THE EVACUATION OF THE GLADE, COGHAM AND MERI ACRES! SEND OUT A DECREE THAT ALL MERIDELLIANS MUST SEEK REFUGE IN THE WALLS OF MERIDELL CASTLE TOWN! TELL MY BROTHER TO SEND HIS BEST GUARDSMEN! SEND FOR JERAN! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, HOPKINS?!" Skarl roared, trying to sound authoritative even as he quaked in his throne room.
"Yes, my lord... Right after I get this poor man some medical aid." Hopkins lifted the messenger over his shoulders and proceeded to drag him towards the apothecary.
"No... Kass has already launched an attack? But how?!" Darigan's face contorted into a scowl. Even if Kass had returned, there's no way he could amass an army that quickly, unless... "GALGARROTH! You and I must ride to the Citadel immediately! Make sure every civilian is brought here in the safety of the castle walls!"
Galgarroth had managed to catch Sirocco, and tossed him to the side. "At once, my lord. The safety of our people is tantamount!"
Lord Darigan turned to Hunter and placed his hands on the Lupe's shoulders. "And you, and your friends..." Darigan gestured to Miraja, Xandra, Saeryennan and Sirocco, "Must make sure nothing happens to the castle while I return to the Citadel. I only hope that the worst has not happened..." With that, Darigan left after Galgarroth.
"So.... We're dead, aren't we?" Sirocco chuckled nervously.
Miraja shook her head. "No, we can find some way to beat him. After all, Hunter and Darigan beat him the first time. He's probably not any more powerful... I hope."
Hunter stood silent. His worst fears were realized; Kass was coming for his revenge.
Darigan's honor guard fell one by one to an army of Kass loyalists whom had waited years for their Lord's return. Even after Darigan reclaimed his rightful place, there was an underground militia who continued to try and wage Kass's war, and until now, Galgarroth's soldiers had kept them suppressed. But now, with word that their leader had returned, these rebels began an open war in the streets of the Citadel. From atop the steeple of a Church of the Goddess, a Darigan Eyrie looked down, smirking at the chaos and panic. "It's just how I had hoped; I never dreamed that so many of these people would remain loyal to my cause after three years." Kass grinned wickedly, baring his razor sharp teeth. "And, thanks to Hadrak and Morguss, my loyal soldiers were able to remain organized enough in the event of my return."

Caylin, having found no trace of the children, left the castle and scanned the kingdom from above once again. She caught a flash of yellow in front of Illusen's Glade and immediately went over there.
It was them.
"Hello," Caylin said, kneeling down to see eye to eye with them. "Listen, Lord Darigan has just informed the king that Lord Kass has returned."
She shuddered when she said his name. They had met briefly on Caylin's search for Queen Miarra. She had been traveling around Neopia asking all the rulers for info. She'd politely asked the Eyrie if he'd seen or heard anything, but had had to fly for her life when he ordered his guards to cut off her wings.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a scroll of parchment. Not knowing what it would be doing here, she picked it up. There was only one word on it: "HELP". It was written in big red letters.
This was not good.
Xandra let out a teary gasp when the Quiggle fell. She was about to try and remove the arrows from him when Saeryennan pulled her back. She then knew there was nothing she could do.
Saeryennan stood up.
"Listen, all of you!" she declared, taking the leader position. "You two as well!" She looked at the Tyrannian (or was it Darigan?) Lupe and his hooded companion. "This" - she gestured at the Quiggle - "is not happening again! Skarl may not be the best leader, but I am someone you can count on! I will always protect Altador, and if necessary, all of Neopia!"

"Alright, everyone! Women, children, the elderly and the infirm first! There is room in the castle and in the catacombs for everyone!" Miraja was using her fan to glide high above the crowds before alighting on top of one of the towers, and used her air manipulation to amplify and carry her speech across the land next to Sirocco and Hunter. "While I was flying up there, I saw fires in the Citadel and airships being shot at by cannons. I just..."
Hunter nodded. "I pray Lord Darigan and the people of the Citadel are safe, but there's nothing we can do for them right now." Hunter grabbed his sword and used it as a brake to slide down the castle walls. "Sirocco, maybe you could ask Meridell's Thieves Guild for assistance?"
Sirocco jumped from rooftop to rooftop as Miraja glided down. "It isn't that simple, Hunter. See, Heermeedjet and Meerouladen are the current guildmasters, and seeing how they've helped Masila in the past..." Sirocco ran his fingers across his neck, making his point obvious. "Then they'll be more harm than help."
"Oh, I don't care!" Miraja scoffed as she landed beside the two in an alleyway. "If they don't help, I'll make them help! I am a princess with access to some of my father's money, after all." Miraja winked at Sirocco and Hunter, her little fang making her sly smirk even cuter.

Akasha shook her head, in disbelief of the nightmare that was unfolding again before her eyes. She saw Darigan and Galgarrath leave and called out to them, but it was too late. She swore with frustration and followed them. "To hell with this place..." She growled. The Citadel's safety was her first concern.

((Sorry Krimz, I didn't even see your posts))
"I really don't think Sirocco should go to the Thieves' Guild alone!" Xandra snapped. "I'm coming with you, since it was just lucky for you I was there last time!" She ran after Sirocco.
Meanwhile, Saeryennan ran up to Akasha.
"Hey, miss, are you okay?" she asked. "Look, I'm going to the Citadel, too. If I had this vision, it's my duty to stop this. I'm coming with you."

((It's okay. XD))
Akasha was just about to take to the sky, but made the mistake of looking over her shoulder. That princess...Wonderful...
"No." She said firmly, "You're going to get yourself killed up there, and I am not taking responsibility for what happens to you. Go back to Xandra!"
((I edit my posts too much...))

Did this Korbat not know anything?!
"I happen to be rather skilled with a sword," Saeryennan said haughtily. "I have saved Altador twice from very powerful Faeries. I think I could take on a Neopet."

"What are we going to do?" Mr. Spooked asked. "We're probably gonna be useless in a battle field, none of us has sword skills, war experience or armory...but we didn't came all this way from Terror Mountain to hide in a castle, did we?" "Nope! That's what those airships are for!" Saly pointed at a barn with the funny looking machines inside, there was a big banner hanging on the entrence saying "Skies Over Meridell".
"You know what? I think I have an idea!" The acara pulled out aviator goggles from their camping bags.

Putting the scroll in her quiver, Caylin quickly followed the children.
"What?! You kids really shouldn't be fighting Lord Kass! He threatened to cut my wings off, and I think he would have too! We should get you to the castle, and I'll find whoever wrote this scroll."

Akasha rolled her eyes and spread her wings, taking to the skies. "Whatever. I don't have time for this..." She hissed.

((Okay, Tiger, I will miss you!))
"WAIT!" Saeryennan screamed as Akasha flew off.
"Great," she grumbled, kicking a broken piece of a tile. "Sir Hunter - it is Hunter, right? Don't you believe I could easily defeat Kass?! I helped defeat Katriana!"

"I am afraid we can no longer wait for your friend. We have to get you two to the castle immediately."
Eevee and Zapphire had still been waiting for Vitus to return when they were approached by a draik guard and informed that everyone was being evacuated to Meridell castle. They insisted on staying until Vitus got back and persuaded the guard to let them do so, but after one or two hours the guard insisted on getting them to the castle.
"You can meet your friend there," he said. "He'll be escorted to the castle too. Now come, we're all in great danger by just staying here."
Reluctantly they both agreed. Perhaps the reason why Vitus hadn't returned was because he had already been escorted to the castle. Their best shot at finding him now would be to obey the draik's order to get to the castle.
"I'm worried, Eevee," Zapphire told Eevee. "It's very unusual for Vitus to disappear like that. I hope he's ok."
"I hope so too," Eevee replied. He then turned to the guard and said "Can we inquire as to why everyone is being evacuated to the castle?"
"Kass has returned," he said gravely, and with that news Eevee immediately knew that he had found another adventure.
****
The scroll had been found, and though it took awhile to do so, it sensed that it had been picked up by a friend. It gave off a low, soft noise as its enchantment took effect.

"Saeryennan. You need to stay out of harm's way. Kass is worse than any Faerie, worse than Katriana, or the Betrayer, or Jennumara. Kass will NOT hesitate to order his soldiers to kill a child; haven't you heard what happened to three children who played Whack-A-Kass?" Hunter loked Saeryennan right in the eyes as he continued. "One of those boys was hanged right in the main plaza of the Citadel's streets."
