Nothing wrong with sequals linny. Except for the fact they stink 99% of the time With Toy Story 2 making up the other one percent. (Note: in case you're wondering, I'm not mentioning TTT because it technically isn't a sequal, just the next part of the LOTR story.)

I would just like to mention that aside from being a LOTR fanatic, I'm also obsessed with Lilo and Stitch. *hugs Stitch plushie* In my opinion, Disney has gone down-hill since The Lion King, but Stitch has really redeemed them. *remembers the good ol' days of seeing The Little Mermaid in the theatre* Ursula REALLY scared me.

As for Shrek. It was good, but the problem with it is that it bases some stuff off pop culture. When time goes on, the fact that it's not in people's mainstream kind of dilutes from the movie... Which is the same problem with Aladdin. I remember people saying when it first came out that while it was very funny, so many of the jokes (especially from the Genie of course) made pop culture references that it could never really be a "timeless" classic. As for the sequels, blegh. I understand why they make them-- almost guaranteed easy money. But I wish they'd put as much effort and quality into them as they do with the first, which rarely happens, although there are a few exceptions.

They only concentrate on the ones they release in theatres... I.E. Jungle Book 2 although I'm not going to go see it

Nothing wrong with sequals linny. Except for the fact they stink 99% of the time The plot for the Lilo and Stitch one is "what happend to the other 625 experiments?!" (Stitch was expirment 626). I dunno, the reason that Lilo and Stitch was so great was that it had heart. It wasen't just "ARGH! ACTION! I AM ACTION RIFFIC!". Shrek could have a good sequal. But it's ending was something more of a done deal. It ended like all fairy tales did, and I liked that. ^_^ Disney has been going sequal mad, and it's just sick. I feel bad seeing the classics from my youth turned into something to rake in a few more dollars... I will not see The Jungle Book 2. The one line that really pokes my gizzards is when Mogli falls into some vines and the girl asks "are you all right?", to which he respones "I'm vine!". ....So now disney is reduced to eye candy and cheap puns... I kind of liked The Emporer's New Groove. Being someone with a very disturbed mine, that movie made me laugh, mostly because it had no serious plot. ^_^

Sprited away was just so beautiful. If anyone can see it (even try to download it off the net) do so, it's just brilliant! It was the best thing I'd ever seen. It gets rather sidetracked and has some loose ends, but it's the type of movie that at the end, it's just perfect. The nice thing about it is that it's not disney. Disney has just dominated the market for so long that it's nice to see anime get the reginoition it deserves (and I'm not sayving this because I'm a biased anime fan, honest! ^_^)I'm really pleased with the animation nominations. Lilo and Stitch was a beautiful movie. The animation was wonderful (you rarely see the handdone backgrounds, so it was nice to see it brought back), and it wasen't the usual Disney trash of dragging back some classic only to shake it out of a few more pennies. In the end, I'm going to root for Sprited Away. IT do hope it wins, it was just brilliant. ^_^ I'm attached to Lilo and Stitch, so that should win Co-Oscar, just because I'm biased. ^__~; Spirited Away was supoosed to come to a therter in Missouri, but were never got it... It was also going to be the movie we were going to see for my birthday... ((we saw 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding, I LUFF THAT MOVIE! IT WAS SO FUNNY!!!))... in OCTOBER!!!

The plot for the Lilo and Stitch one is "what happend to the other 625 experiments?!" (Stitch was expirment 626). Well, I don't know. At least it's not going to be "the continued adventures of Lilo and Stitch, in which we completely ruin the beautiful characters we created with bad animation, voicework, and writing." As I said in my little commentary on 101 Dalmations II, the best characters in the movie were the new ones b/c I wasn't constantly comparing them to the older movie.

Found this one some web site:
So am I taking this to mean that there will be a prequel *and* a sequel *and* there's an TV series too? Overkill. And after reading some details on the sequel's plot, I see what you mean Linnen. It sounds pretty unbelievable too...

I dunno, I mean I would assume from 626 that there wern't 625 other genetic expirments.... Still, they are doing the same thing to Atlantis (I really don't care, it was a god awful movie) where they "journey back to the surface!". I don't get how the main characters got back TO Atlantis and then back UP to the surface... Just...not...right... ; The worst thing about it was that, from the previews the art was AWFUL. That was the ONLY redeeming quality about it...ONLY...

I saw a preview for the Atlantis sequel and the artwork was horrendous-- and you're right, that's all that was holding the original up in the first place.
