Want to super power your word count? Ruffle the plot feathers? Utterly bamboozle your readers with the most shocking of swerves? If any of that sounds enticing, then consider taking on a writing dare to turn your story upside down!
Dares are a fun way to patch the game, and may even help you discover a whole new mode of play along the way.

Dare: The MC ends up having an identical twin. - BP = The twin isn't evil, just highly annoying. DBP = The twin is actually the MC from the future. TBP = The twin is only from two days in the future.
Dare: The MC finds a magic object in a thrift store. - BP = The magic objects grants wishes. DBP = The magic object only grants wishes people no longer want. TBP = Something tragic happens as a result of a wish.

Dare: If you have chapters, begin each chapter with a different letter of the alphabet.
Bonus Points: If your chapter title and the first letter of each chapter is set in a special font, that means you get to show off the font's range. Double Bonus Points: Make the first letters alphabetical. (Chapter 1 begins with A, Chapter 2 with B, etc.) Triple Bonus Points: ...Or maybe spell out a secret message. =o Quadruple Bonus Points: End each chapter with a different letter of the alphabet, as well.
