It was an easy choice for me. Team Raiders.  ...which means if any of you want gold for this GMC, you should pick Team Knights. I've picked the losing team for the last three years. |D As for today's game, I never played jungle raiders, but so far, I am not enjoying it. I'm going to get that score, though. |

I have beaten the Jungle Raiders score (612 - I noticed when I was over 450, I just had no idea what would be a good way to stop).
Hoo boy, that was rough.

ooh, new Neopets event, shiny, been a while *looks at teams* *chooses Raiders, because I still tend to gravitate towards teams that match my pirate heritage* *faceplants at the first hurdle* 450 AT JUNGLE RAIDERS, WHAT THE ABSOLUTE HECK.
My highscore is 102, and I don't like the game or the event nearly enough to be sitting down with game guides or trying to have a proper go at it.
Thankfully, since I'm not too invested in the event, I don't especially care if I don't get a perfect track record xD But man, Hanso, couldn't you have picked a better deal for us? Sadly Jungle Raiders is one of those games where you just have to play it and get the feel of (same with Snowmuncher actually). I could give tips and advice but the biggest issue is usually with getting used to the controls (especially jumping). Best I can say is there are two videos on Youtube you can watch of people getting high scores. I watched them though and don't feel any are that great of a playthrough, but maybe watching them will help you get what you're supposed to do. The best offhand advice I can maybe give is before jumping from one vine to another make sure they're as close to each other as they can be; if that isn't looking possible try to wait for the vine you're on is swinging forward and the vine you're jumping to is either swinging or will soon be swinging back, that trick sometimes work. AND since it wouldn't be fair, there's plenty of videos for Snowmuncher for those having a hard time with it. My offhand advice for that is, if this is your first time, if your fullness meter gets above 50% you should try finding a Bloat-B-Gone asap; if you're near a Bloat-B-Gone but your meter isn't above 50% see if you can't try filling it to 50% before using it. Otherwise best bet for new players is to eat straight down, try collecting any nearby gems, eat toward any Bloat-B-Gone you see and hopefully you'll get to 3k. Also at any time you can type in "buuuurrrrrrrrp" (1 b, 4 u, 8 r, 1 p) to reduce your fullness meter by 50%. Team Kinghts for me. An easy choice, because my highschool's mascot was the Knights, and I can still see the school from my back yard. Once a Knight, always a Knight. But the score for the first day is already a bight higher than I've scored. This does not bode well for the rest of the competition, unless they just wanted to scare us a bit the first day. The team names did remind me of sport teams that uses those names, lol. Also they struck me as odd since Byrnn is a guard and Hanso is a thief, not exactly a knight or raider. While they can stretch a guard being a knight, wouldn't be surprised if Meridell/Brightvale has both going through the same training regime with maybe a few differences, a thief being a raider is very much a stretch as when I hear "raider" I think vikings charging into battle or pirates swinging aboard another's ship. A fancy word for a thief would be "rogue", a character outside of the role which is more stealthy and sticks to the shadows. The scores seem high but only if you haven't played those games much. Once you know what you're doing these scores are very easy to get to. Moreso Jungle Raiders than Snowmuncher. |

Not being as well-versed on Neopets lore as I could be with regard to their plots, I (rather surprisingly, in hindsight) chose Team Knights. Team Raiders perhaps would have been more enticing had I taken a few seconds to ponder my decision, but oh well.
Snowmuncher was an alright choice. I wouldn't by any means consider it to be one of my favorite Neopets games, but its gameplay is interesting enough. I achieved the necessary 3,000 on my first try, reaching a score of 4,014 with some rather spotty gameplay. My totally insightful strategy of making a mad dash for the jewels caused me to lose at least one life, as I didn't really put too much thought into the gameplay. I also realized that, despite remembering it, I for some reason neglected to utilize the "buuuurrrrrrrrp" cheat.
Come to think of it...perhaps I'll spare a few dollars (for the first time on Neopets in years, in fact) and participate in Lulu's Challenge.

Of course, just you guys watch Team Raiders lose if only because I said anything about my record XD
Anyways, first day of the GMC, and it took me ten minutes to start screaming at my computer in frustration. Doesn't exactly bode well for the rest of the event...  |

Chose team knights because I didn't want to fool with Jungle Raiders. Plus knights have a Shenkuu Warrior 2 figure, and that's my favorite game.

I went for team Knights because I'm slightly obsessed a fan of the MD/DC War plot. =D Also because Snowmuncher is far easier than Jungle Raiders.

Ugh, Snowmuncher. Spent half the night doing this thing (while on my weekly phone call to my Mom) using the guidelines from Jellyneo. It was all in the way the blocks aligned to get large combos and the purple gems, but I finally managed to break 3000 points after a couple frustratingly close calls. |
