Like, uh, Warner Bros. could set up a booth and, if the Comic-Con "ruling council" was the only one weighing in, they could air a screening of Infinity War. There's no rule that says you can't bring extra. Well, they'd be in violation of a fairly big rule: copyright law. XD Disney owns the rights to Infinity War, which also includes the rights to public performances of said work. WB would have to license those rights first. Also, fairly sure Comic-Con probably has extensive rules about what can and can't be at a show floor booth. All this said, all this makes me really sad and nostalgic. Sad that TNT isn't at Neo anymore, that they're not doing a Comic Con. Sad that it's been quite a few years since I've been to Comic Con. (Which is too bad, because they're screening the first show I've ever animation-directed at a panel!) And then also nostalgic for the times back when I lugged my hefty laptop to the Neopets booth so I can show them my Flash animation and try to get an artist job. ;__; Gahhhh all the feels... I mean aside from copyright law. If the rules of how booths at Comic-Con work was the only rule they had to follow. EDIT: Comic-Con is underway, and I think Jawsch is there because he reports in this thread on Neoboard 7 that the name of the app is "Tales of Neopia." Now they might just be using the name, but COULD this be the Tales of Neopia concept revisited? Wasn't it supposed to be an MMO of some kind? And MMOs are a thing that JumpStart does. Or at the very least, 3D worlds you can walk around in.

Jawsch is definitely not there, he has been lamenting not being able to attend. I've been keeping an eye out and I don't know where he got the information from.
If it's true, chances are high they are picking up where TNT left off. But which iteration of Tales of Neopia? The project has changed so frequently since its initial inception in 2008 it really could be anything. I'm personally hoping for a 3D MMO. JumpStart has experience in this and it would be completely different from anything else Neopets has ever had.

So they're giving out exclusive rare item codes at comic-con with an avatar that counts to the total.
That would have been nice to know in advance.

Julie is livetweeting from the event: twitter.com/bonkishThe app is called Neopets Legends & Letters. Looks like an educational Scrabble type of game. Character artwork is recycled assets. Wah-wah.

Yoooo, Key Quest will be returning as a mobile game, and HTT just confirmed that Dark Lord announced that [at the after party (I'm assuming)]. 😱

So they're giving out exclusive rare item codes at comic-con with an avatar that counts to the total. That would have been nice to know in advance. The latest is that while it counts towards the total, it doesn't count towards the avatar collection highscore table, which I reckon is pretty reasonable on the whole; exclusive avatars are all well and good but real-life events should ideally not have a bearing on your progress on the site. They seem to have gotten pretty avatar-heavy as of late. Feels like they've realized that this is what people like and now they're churning 'em out in various ways alongside stamp focus. Yoooo, Key Quest will be returning :-D :'-D (I mean, I know I can't expect companies to cater to non-smartphone-owning people like myself, but stiiiiiillll) I feel your pain, I only downloaded Ghoul Catchers yesterday after getting a new phone. While my previous phone was a smartphone, it was incredibly derpy and ran so low on memory that I couldn't really fit apps into it. I think I've said before on some thread or other that Neopets took entirely the wrong turn some number of years ago and started building the site into something very desktop-specific (note all those huge fancy flash maps, the wide shopkeeper images and the overall direction towards the horizontal, not the mobile vertical). Which turned out to be a developmental dead end. I think they tried to be inclusive this way - even people who don't own a smartphone are likely to own a lap/desktop - but then mobile kept climbing and Neopets kept not doing anything about it. So on the grand scheme of things it's encouraging to know that they've finally taken a varied and hopefully-even-fast turn towards mobile content; it means that they might actually be able to get a second wind as a site and have some sort of a renaissance of new interest instead of continuing to be this nostalgic curiosity from 2002. (Fun fact I learned while doing one of my recent translations: statistically, mobile internet access has surpassed internet access coming from desktop devices as of October 2016. Which rather goes to show how much potential userbase doesn't have access to Neopets; even the NC Mall as the bestest cash cow on the site doesn't mesh with mobile because the pet preview is in Flash.)

Yeah, I have to admit, the bulk of my casual internet browsing has been on my phone, unless I'm at work. But then, I'm not playing Neopets at work! XD So I'm actually probably more interested in Neopets mobile stuff than I am of any of the desktop stuff anymore. That said, I hated Ghoul Catchers. XD It ran poorly, even on current-era phones, had a bad UI, and was needlessly buggy for what was just a Bejeweled clone. I'm hoping these new games are competent.
And I'd love it if they found a way to make Customization work on mobile. XD I could go back to dressing up my guys for current events during my lunch break!

What if by "mobile game" they also mean we can play it on Facebook, like Ghoul Catchers?

Fiendish Formations ran pretty nicely on both mobile and desktop, but Keyquest as I remember it was laggy as all heck. Frequently took forever to load and crashed a few times before I got in. No idea if it could've been a problem at our end because we had perfectly good wifi at the time, but the game always struck me as something that should've been a console game instead. Or an app. That said, I hated Ghoul Catchers. XD It ran poorly, even on current-era phones, had a bad UI, and was needlessly buggy for what was just a Bejeweled clone. I'm hoping these new games are competent. I'm a huge fan of all types of Bejeweled clone games and what I don't like about Ghoul Catchers is how dependent it gets on powerups and all sorts of microtransactions to advance. Just let me barrel through levels swapping ghosts around, goshdangit. What I don't get is why they couldn't release some of the existing (literally hundreds of) Neopets games as apps or something similar. A lot of them would be plenty touchscreen-friendly: Kass Basher, Bouncy Supreme, Petpet Cannonball, Cloud Raiders, effectively everything that you play with a mouse. And they have relatively simple graphics compared to what Keyquest would take and what I saw from the new Legends game. Granted, since Flash is going the way of the dodo, odds are good that they're working on something with all of these games anyway (but-a-but considering how many games there are on Neopets, couldn't they have gotten started on converting and re-releasing the more popular games bit by bit so that I'd have more to do on Neopets on mobile than pre-bookmarked dailies and the Battledome? >3>)

Most likely reason is that most of those aren't 'sticky' enough in their current forms. A level in Ghoul Catchers takes a lot longer than hitting a puppet with a bat three times, for example. KQ as a stand alone app would sink a lot more time for the average user (resulting in more microtransactions and more ads viewed) than pretty much any non-infinite levels Neopets game. I mean, they are going to convert some games - AC needs at least 1 and both Daily Dare and the Gamesmasters Challenge need at least another 7. Neopets ultimately can't afford to lose three site events per year so we will be seeing flash games remade in html5 - but that's why they won't be stand alone apps.

Just want to post my quick opinions, mostly from what JN reported (plus the situation concerning the Avatar): Neopets Legends & Letters: Looks alright, combining scrabble with a fighter certainly sounds like a unique idea, or at the very least one not commonly used. Sounds like it could be fun though I am concerned your enjoyment experience may determine on how good you are at word games. And much like Ghoul Catchers (and basically all other free to play games), there sounds to be plenty of opportunity for microtransactions though hopefully it doesn't become as egregious as I heard Ghoul Catchers becomes. From the little gameplay we see I am curious about what stories it'll tell. One they shown a lot of was Krawk Island based with you fighting Scarblade's crew. In addition to some unique characters I also noticed in your control was Jacques and Hannah, certainly an interesting combination though where's Garin? Is him missing part of the story? Another thing I'm noticing is that a fair amount of stock artwork is being re-used. Which is fine... though I do have a problem with one of your characters being in the typical Draik pose. Unless this is hinting at you being able to have one your Neopets as a controllable fighter I would rather see characters in more dynamic stock poses (as the other characters were). Also the trailer itself was fine though there were moments that threw me off. First they had a shot in the Hall of Heroes where we see the shadow of two characters fighting, but it's missing several status: Velm's, Florin's, Torakor's, and the pedestal of the Darkest Faerie's. Also at the end when the text "Vicious Foes" pops up, the character they have next to it is Team Moltara's Captain Aldric Beign... who isn't a villain at all. Like the video shows Scarblade so why not use his stock art? Also does this mean we'll be using/fighting against Yooyuball players at some point? Mobile Friendly Website: Took them long enough, though good to hear all the same. Hopefully this might bring some life back to the site, though I guess part of that depends on how many games they remake in HTML5. Say, Neoquest doesn't use flash, right? Neopets World Builder Game: No real opinion here, but sounds it could be as fun as any Sim City is. Curious if the different world themes are just cosmetic or do you need to do things differently for each world. Mobile Key Quest: Like with the Mobile Friendly Website, both glad and sad to hear this. Sad that this probably means the site version is never coming back, BUT it coming back as a mobile game probably means more will be able to play it (or it'll at least be played more). And with all the Tokens they have the microtransaction right there and ready (and maybe release more). Real-Life Mystery Capsule: Don't really have much to say at most of the other stuff, though I hope that Vandagyre Plushie is a hint real life plushies (and figurines) are coming back! Neopets has so much merchandise potential, hopefully JS's marketing team can bring that into fruition. Actually just in general a lot of focus was put on the Vandagyre with the Neopet's booth handing out a rare item code that gave out Vandagyre wearable items (though all Neopets can wear the armor pieces oddly enough). Are they planning on doing something with the Vandagyre just in general? The Future of Neopets: Good to hear a major focus of this event was JS wanting to connect with the Neopets community. With this after party event and hardtotame answering questions, JS is taking steps in the right direction. As long as the darker side of the Neopets community doesn't scare them off, this might be the chance we were hoping for to getting the site back on track. Comic Con 2018 Avatar: And now for the Avatar. My only problem with it is that it counts toward the Avatar totals, but I have no problem that people who went to the Neopets booth got an Avatar. It reminds me of some of the old TCG Tournament Avatars they had many years ago. The Avatar itself looks nice, I'm guessing the Hissi dressed as Razul and the Skeith as Dr. Sloth is a reference to cosplay? Well those are my immediate thoughts. Though with Hardtotame having done several Q&As may hop over to the Scrappy Q&A Collection & Discussion (+ NT Editorial) thread (I think I might need to rename it).

Hmmm... you know, I'm a little frustrated by how downright impossible it'll be to get the SDCC avvy now, but I guess it makes sense all considering. Now if they could do, I don't know, a giveaway for like 100 of them so that other random people could maybe get a hold of one, that would be great.

About the odd choices in the trailer, HTT has said that some of the stock art shown isn't going to appear in the final game. It wasn't clear if she meant the trailer or the game version that was playable, or both, though. I wouldn't worry about Altador Cup players suddenly turning evil, personally.
