Huntress I don't know if Kaia being into fidget spinners and eating tide pods is the best takeaway from your thoughtful post but that's the image I have in my head now. ... the youths these days The day I stop giving people weird mental images is the day I die xP ...now I sorta wonder if Kaia was supposed to be the relatable teenage protagonist for the userbase. Cos the site management would probably have a better handle on data about the average age of the active userbase, but for me the relatable one was always Aethia, desperately keeping it together and getting stuff done while everything piles up on her. (Another crack theory we've bounced around is that Fyora and Aethia are sisters - well, according to site lore all faeries are sisters, but, y'know, more sistery-sisters. They have very similar wings and they line up nicely with that oldie-time setup where the first child inherited the estate and the second one went into the military. The third would join the clergy, but nobody really fits that bill on-site... well, unless we were to shoehorn the angel-winged, suddenly-suspiciously-important-in-healing-matters Taelia into that role.)

Well, it could certainly be possible some Faeries are closer to one another depending on how Faeries are created. Using my creation theory as an example, since I like Faeries sticking with their mystical roots, I always imagined more Faeries are created every hundred years or so through a ritual where participating Faeries give a portion of their magical powers to mix together in one big ball of magical energy before splitting apart into new Faerie children. In this case, if Fyora and Aethia were part of the same "litter", then they'd be more closely related than to Faeries from another litter even though all Faeries roughly share the same magical consistency. Of course, both Fyora and Aethia wouldn't be the only Faeries part of this "litter" so they have dozens of other litter sisters. Who knows how Fyora got chosen to be Faerie royalty, whether she just so happened to have been made up of a certain magic formula which gives her access to powers only the Faerie royalty are known to have (thus they automatically join the royalty and are line for the throne, pretty much a self fulfilling prophecy) or she had to prove herself in some way. Though for Aethia we do know her origin, sorta. She became the Battle Faerie by earning it, being courageous in the face of evil and using her wits to figure out the riddle all Battle Faeries must to be proven worthy.

Duke Pikachu that is pretty much how I imagine new Faeries are made, too! 8D And I also get the impression that Aethia is a part of the same batch as Fyora, sort of like omni-elemental proto-Faeries. Huntress I could almost go with that theory, aaalllmost, if I didn't... 'ship those two so hard!! Aethyora is pretty much my Neopian OTP, just look at them, they're perfect for an adorable lady & lady-knight-bodyguard dynamic. <3 (Heck, I even had Aethia princess-carry Fyora in a NT story.)

Duke Pikachu that is pretty much how I imagine new Faeries are made, too! 8D And I also get the impression that Aethia is a part of the same batch as Fyora, sort of like omni-elemental proto-Faeries. If I were to go into more detail, how I imagine is that after forming the giant magical ball it splits apart and the fragments fall to the ground and plant themselves like seeds. A bud than grows from the spot and when it blooms there's an elemental Faerie toddler (I imagine Faeries are created somewhat more aged so they could do basic things like walk and talk). From there they're assigned either to Faerie parents (which have to be approved by the Faerie council) or are sent to live in a secret and secured part of the Faerie Academy, at least until they've chosen their element. Though thinking about it, I have a hard time thinking of any Faerie who would be older than Fyora's generation. Like I could see Faeries that are a part of it (Aethia, Taelia, Mira) or are slightly younger (Jhudora, Illusen, Baelia), but older? Hmm... well there's Shyvara, Dreeana, and Valeane part of Aethia's backstory. Ambition of The Three could be older, though is she a real Faerie? Of known Faeries, maybe Siyana (though I would put her in Fyora's generation). But... they're sisters (even if by magical means)... Heck, would Faeries even have a libido? It seems like something that'll be useless in Faeries. While they'd recognize Neopets and other multi-gendered lifeforms having it, doesn't mean they themselves would feel it or even understand if they experienced it through a Neopet. Referring to the types of love, they'd still have philia, storge, and agape; just not eros.

In all fairness, when you're a bunch of elemental creatures born out of a drop of sun that fell on the earth or whatevertheheck the system may actually be (there's a glaring lack of faerie background intel on the site; possibly for the better because we all know what happens when you try to establish a coherent high-magic system for a site that was originally meant for a bunch of college students derping around) what would you call your fellow elemental creatures? 'Sister' might just be there for lack of a better term.
But it does stand to reason that faeries would form *vague handwave* family units of various sorts, because younger faeries clearly exist and the way complicated societies work, older creatures have to keep younger creatures under their more-or-less metaphorical wing for some period of time in order to teach them how to function in said society and altogether make sure that they don't get into tide pods / funky mushrooms / cross paths with an ultimate manifestation of evil and get taken over or impersonated or whateverthefrek actually happened here, we still haven't gotten our exposition. >__>
(Under roughly that same logic, I can see why individual faeries would forge close connections based on *vague handwave again* whatever they find complements their lives in a mutual manner. As in, human couples don't stay together based just on physical attraction, there's a whole lot of helping each other grow and bringing out the best in each other and enduring various hardships so that one or the other or both can learn something and maybe improve as a person, et-a-cetera. And at the end of the day, we're social creatures and there's this deep-set desire to just share your life and its ups and downs with someone. Buuut I don't have a horse in that particular race xD)

One of the problems with Faerie lore and the origins of Neopia is that there seems to have been a significant change in how the content team handled lore. Take the old Neopedia article-stories, from the era of gradients and everyone-is-Chias, and compare them with the Faeries' Ruin plot comic, for instance. The former was made of one-shot stories happening all across Neopia, not really connecting to each other, and often leaving more eternal loose ends than answers; the latter convenes the leaders of several different realms, shows the collaboration between them, and establishes a Faerie barrier protecting all of Neopia from eldritch abominations. The original tale of Aethia and her "mother" and "tutor" is, unfortunately, one of those older articles that don't exactly fit with the more modern lore. I kind of ignore the old broom faeries that were only mentioned by name. While they'd recognize Neopets and other multi-gendered lifeforms having it, doesn't mean they themselves would feel it or even understand if they experienced it through a Neopet. Libi-what? There is no such thing in Neopia. =o The bonds between timeless elemental beings transcend mere human sentiment. They've known each other the longest, their energies might be complementary, they trust each other with their lives, they can be synchronished without even communicating, etc. They can gaze at each other with the steadfastness of an entire magical dimension and exchange eternal devotion in a single glance. And write poetry for each other sometimes. Something like that. xD I'm just saying it doesn't need to be anything like stereotypical romance or follow that one Greek model. (Under roughly that same logic, I can see why individual faeries would forge close connections based on *vague handwave again* whatever they find complements their lives in a mutual manner. The original tale of Aethia and her "mother" and "tutor" is, unfortunately, one of those older articles that don't exactly fit with the more modern lore. I kind of ignore the old broom faeries that were only mentioned by name. I always got the strong impression that those early Neopedia articles were effectively the original TNT's own Neopian Times. It was a team made up of a bunch of creative people who were just building up the site and new users flocking in by the hundreds (cue swelling music and grainy oldie-time scenes of the golden era, etc.) and the userbase has always had lots of questions about the what and the how and the who and the background intel. So I can easily see the team channeling their various own story ideas to churn out stuff about broom faeries, heroic neopets and the battle potato, or come up with answers on the fly to questions about how the Hidden Tower was discovered. Problem is, with great power comes great responsibility and all of that stuff is treated as canon. I doubt it ever occurred to them that 15+ years later people would be poking holes in the article about Baelia and its ramifications for the way faerie magic is set up, much like I can write a series about Kanrik traipsing around Shenkuu uncovering deep dark lore about faerie origins but won't ever think that it actually has to hold up with eeeeverything else ever established on the site or fit into the big picture. It might be nice if they did like, some sort of a cleanup undertaking to brand various articles as canon or outdated and overwritten, but let's be real, that'd take forever, be way low on the priority list and the old articles with their somewhat conflicting lore still have intrinsic value as representatives of that old charm and potential creativity triggers. In short, lore be messed up and whatchagonnado xD all of which is also why I've never been very fussed about the current management getting this or that site-lore-thing "wrong" - we ain't never had the Silmarillion to hold up as a coherent baseline document anyway. Newer stuff can be reasonably expected to be more in line with the team's vision but even then nothing's really pinned down forever.

Does Scrappy or any of the staff ever visit here? Does anyone have any sort of friendly relationship with any of the staff that they might answer them? People are saying the plot is over. That there will be no epilogue and we have seen the end of it already. But we still have one pet left in the infirmary. They can't just leave him there. All the links still work and people can still battle the wraiths. I don't think this is over, just the end got put on hold for Charity Corner, Negg Festival and Daily Dare. I hope we get something before Altador Cup. Someone on the boards said that they thought that they saw the Skieth in the Infirmary heal up just at tiny bit.
Anyway, what do you guys think? I wish they would address this in the news at least.

smudgeoffudge- Well, here's the answer (from today's news) If that's the case, then the ending seems a bit anti-climatic

Looks like the plot is finally ending. I'm gonna miss it though, it gave me a lot of inspiration for silly comics. Submitted one this morning that I'm really happy with.

Well, that was sudden. I found a bunch of items in my inventory and a NM from TNT that states the following: I didn't see a prize page and there doesn't seem to be an update from the clearing or the TFR HQ page... I am kinda disappointed. The prizes are as follows:
The highly anticipated autobiography of the misunderstood Lupe is finally out! This item is an achievement prize in The Wraith Resurgence. I Am Malum: The Story of the Misunderstood Lupe(special) Book
This is probably how Kaia nods her head as she listens to her teachers at the academy. This item is an achievement prize in The Wraith Resurgence. Kaia Bobblehead(special) Toy
The fumes are as healthy as the mushroom. This item is an achievement prize in The Wraith Resurgence. Shenkuu Faerie Mushroom(special) Faerie Food
Enter into a trance with this magical fog circling you. This item is an achievement prize in The Wraith Resurgence. Field of Visions(wearable) Foreground (special)
All that merriment destroyed overnight... This item is an achievement prize in The Wraith Resurgence. Destroyed Faerie Festival Background(wearable) (special)
When you have been wrongly accused for so long, you deserve a stamp of your own. This item is an achievement prize in The Wraith Resurgence. The Wraith Resurgence Stamp(special)

I'm assuming the full update will go up later today? Hoping, anyway. In any case, I really like both wearables. Plus, animated trophy! EDIT: JN has a link to part of the wrap-up that I don't think has gone live yet, so we're definitely in for another update.

The video explained quite a bit of backstory and definitely cleared up a lot of confusion throughout the plot.

I'm going to wait till the weekend to go into deeper thoughts, though just want to say two things: 1. So apparently we all have Reizo to blame for this.
2. So, as it turns out, it was until the end of the plot did we finally meet Kaia as this entire time the "Kaia" we knew was TDF in disguise, from Faerie Festival to the big reveal. They I'll give them kudos to explain it wasn't TDF having visions but purposely leading volunteers into "traps". Still, I'd need to re-read the plot to find any plot holes with this revelation.
