As the first day of spring draws near, people clean out their closets and sweep under their beds, satisfied with getting rid of old stuff, thereby enabling peace of mind and a sense of contentment once the job is done. But what about all of those old, long-forgotten projects that were never finished? The failed art trade/s of years past or that Christmas gift that never got completed? As many of us learn how to Adult, it can be challenging to find time to write or draw or create, and that's where this event comes in. From the first day of spring to the first day of summer, participants will work on their listed projects and complete as many as they can, preferably a little bit every day or every two days. Participants may choose to give a weekly progress report. It's not necessary but highly encouraged and will help with motivation. So here's how it's going to work: those who are interested, feel free to post in this thread so I can gauge interest. Others are still free to sign up after the first day of spring. It's the productivity that counts! Once that day does arrive, I'll make another thread in which participants create/reserve posts and list everything they need to do. (If a project is secret, feel free to keep it vague). EDIT: the project list thread is up! I know it's early, but some people, myself included, might forget about projects by the time spring arrives, so this will help participants get a head start. If you choose to update, please mention on which day of the week you would like to update on the list board. (I myself will be updating on Mondays.) (The update thread is here!) Once a week has passed, I'll create the update board and people can post what they have done and encourage one another should someone have trouble with their own projects. At the end of the event, if participants have completed all or nearly all of their listed projects (or all or nearly all of one giant project), they may receive a prize of sorts. C; The first day of spring is March 20 and the first of summer is June 20 . Who's in?
(On a completely unrelated note, would anyone else like to design a badge for this? I will do it either way butbutbut Pixel Art. ="D)

I'm vaguely interested, but as you said Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff), learning how to adult is taking up a huge amount of my life right now, making it a little hard to find time to write! Also thank you for clarifying what the first day of spring is - that question was in my mind the entire way through the post xP (In Australia we started autumn nine days ago). I will add to that question though, just out of curiosity: what's the first day of "summer"?

I wonder, since this event is about productivity, if it's fair game to bring in our adult responsibilities to it as well. Like, there are a number of school projects or scheduling tasks that I should really take care of as my school semester hits the midway point, and an event like this could perhaps give me better motivation to do it (and bonus points for being able to gloat about it when I actually make progress x3)
Because as much as a lot of us here enjoy writing, drawing, or other creative projects, that's already sort of our reward throughout the day, or what we do in our free time. Perhaps people could use this event not only to pursue those projects, but perhaps also to make a game out of the more mundane life chores :3
As for when summer starts, I'd imagine that'd be around June 20 (it's usually between June 20-22 for us, since we base it off of solstices).

It sounds interesting. I mean, I kind of do this already, have a list of projects to work on at any given time. They tend to be ongoing projects though, like, "do something art related every day," or very big projects like, "work on Ink 3," so it's not necessarily stuff with an end date, or that I'd finish in three months. But I mean, if I'm doing it anyway, then I guess it's not too much extra trouble to list them all.

I think this is good incentive, because there's a lot of things I've put off. Even if I don't finish them, I think it's important to be able to say that I've made progress on them, since some things have been kind of stagnant and this is a good excuse to try to push it along. I'm in. =D
I might or might not put other things on my list besides writing projects I've put off (which I've definitely done!) that include stuff like munging out my room and trying to reduce the amount of stuff I have. I think I could multitask on that, and besides, the messiness of my room is kind of bothering me.
For just my creative projects, let's see, I have... 1. Some old fics for my Mafia II character's backstory that I never finished/fully got around to 2. A fic between my Mafia II and Mafia I character 3. A fic for my character from The Town 4. An assortment of Medieval fics that I really should get around to finishing
I think that's enough of a list to have my work cut out for me. I probably won't do all of those things because that's actually a lot to do in 3 months time and I don't want to stress myself out too much over it, but I can start from there.

I like this idea; it sounds like it would be a good way to get me back into art. Put me down as being interested. And I am also a willing volunteer for designing a badge for this.

I don't know the degree to which I'll be able to participate but this souuunds interesting? Maybe I could get back to making NT comics, assuming I have enough time aside from final university projects and graduation.

I'm potentially interested. Could learning HTML/coding count? I guess I could make it something about updating my Neopets lookup, if you're looking for something more specific.

I'm interested! I actually have a lot of things I've meant to do and haven't gotten around to, or started but never finished... so this would probably be very good for me.
To be honest, the first thing that came to mind when I read the examples you gave was how back in 2014 I joined the NTWF Advent Calendar event, but I never actually finished what I had planned for that. I had a very ambitious idea for personalized presents, and I couldn't finish them on time. I've been feeling guilty about that for over 2 years now, so maybe it's time for some very overdue presents...

I think I'd be interested. Goodness knows I have a ton of projects in the works that I should probably do something about. ^^

I'm not sure I get how this works. ^^; If I read right, to start this event, I'd give you a list of things that I've been failing to do for ages. And then... what happens afterwards?

Good heavens I thought I replied to this last night. XD; Reiqua Thanks for asking, I've specified it in the original post. According to multiple sources, it's June 20. Twillie of course school projects apply! Anything is fair game in the race to GET STUFF DONE *fistpump* June Scarlet you're already ahead of the game, then~ Gelquie whoa there the list thread hasn't started but planning now works well too. Can't wait to see more of Julie's backstory. Kozma thank you for volunteering. I'll start a PM with you on this as I've got an idea or two myself but I'm not really sure how to implement it such that it's tiny and readable. Allison absolutely yes! Anything goes. ^^ Liou it's not really giving me a list of things to do, it's posting them in the specified thread. The reason they're there is so participants don't forget, and so they see what others are doing. Plus, it gives participants the satisfaction of crossing things off a list once things do get done. At the end of it, should most or all of the projects be complete, or even started, I will do my best to give something nice.

Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff) - I know, but I mostly put it in for my own sake, because I'm likely to forget things or change my mind partway through. It's not finalized. xD Although regarding the last paragraph, hmm, the ones I have are mostly fairly big projects; there's no way I can cross all of them off my list or even start all of them in 3 months, I just like having a large list to choose from while not holding myself to doing all of them. Hopefully that's okay, so long as I make one a lot of progress on at least one of them? I mean, that's really the point, isn't it?
