I actually know Python, I took a college class for it Fall 2015. I can recommend a textbook, if you are willing to get one of those instead of an Online Guide. I can suggest that for class, we coded with Eclipse, which is like a text editor plus stuff for coding, which took some sort of setting up to be able to use it for Python, but it was pretty good at explaining what your errors were, so it was worth the trouble. And I can also maybe help with questions and such. Probably the only thing, it has been a year since I've done Python, so I might have forgotten some stuff. But the concepts stay the same in all programming languages, and I still have my textbook for reference. Ah, cool! If I run into troubles, I might consider taking you up on that. I kind of want to avoid textbooks if I can, though. Partially because a lot of good information about programming is all available online, partially because I already have a lot of books. I have actually learned a programming language before, albeit a simplified one, so I'm not starting from ground zero. I'm just not talented at coding. But I think I'll get enough material online. Thanks though. ^^ I checked out the site for Eclipse, and while it seems okay, I was wondering about the focus on Java. Ultimately, I figure I'll want a program that I can use long-term, as the primary reason for me taking on this project is because it's extremely relevant to my career track (and even alternate ones that hold my interest), so I figure I may as well choose it now and stick with that. I ended up finding something on the site for Python itself, though if I get too many confounding errors, I may look at Eclipse again. Anyway, I'll keep your Python knowledge in mind in case I need help. Thanks. ^^ (Although now that I've got my software, I'm kind of jumping the gun and already looking at guides. Oops. xD Oh well; I'll account where I've gone so far, but I won't count it towards my progress until the event start date. I'm at the easy stuff now; I'll soon get to stuff that'll trip me up.) Yeah, that's the thing about Eclipse, its focus is on Java, you can just configure it for Python instead. I've never researched alternatives, just accepted whatever my teacher told me to use. And he used that for just about all classes including Java, so it's likely it's just what he's used to using. But I liked Python, it's a good beginning language. Just remember that indentation is super important, it's not just optional styling in Python for clean code, it's required.

Yeah, that makes sense that they'll use and teach what they're used to, especially if he's used to teaching Java classes. I think what I found seems to be working okay, though; now I just need to learn how to use it. Yeah, so far it's been really easy, though then again, I'm still at the really easy stuff. (Like "how to do math operators in this program" and "how do I run a script".) I'll keep that in mind about the indentations when I get there, though; that's useful to know. Thanks for the warning. ^^

Okay, I'll give this a try... First I just have to uh, remember my abandoned projects. XD

Well you could very well code the projects in your list so that no one but you knows what they are. I have at least two secrets on mine. >w< Oh of course, I would have given everything a silly code name, that's the fun part... but you would still see just how many things I don't get done, see. ^^;;;;; Anyway, I love how everyone's lists are looking like missions from a roleplay event. 8D

Liou - If you really don't want to show off ones to us, you could keep a separate list on your computer that contains the other secret things? That way you still have it on file, but you're not obligated to show us.

*Tiptoes back in, a bit unsure* I hope it's okay to make additional comments on our lists here too. If not, I'll delete it/move it to the general Spring Cleaning list, or add it to my other post. So... see this one? 2. Rearrange bookshelf Type: Organization Tier: Medium to Hard Steps: Possibly buy a new shelf/unit all together. Possibly buy some "storage cubes" to help with aesthetics. Sort through books. Figure out what to do with books I don't need on that shelf anymore. Ask mom if I can use the bookshelf downstairs too. Progress: None, and probably will make the situation worse before I even start on it. And this one? (especially the bolded parts in both) 5. Read More for Leisure Type: Reading/self-enrichment Tier: Easy to do, harder to find time (i.e. actually get to bed early...) Steps: Find books. Get to bed on time. Progress: On-going. Those to are threatening to war against one another. Anyone want to convince me NOT to buy the Harry Potter boxed set? Especially since I have at least one of them sitting somewhere in the house already (though I have no idea where), and that I can live with the library copies, even though I may not be able to continue from one directly to the next if I rely on the library??

Ha. Whoops. My fault for not clarifying. I meant at least one of the individual books. If I had the full set, yes. I'd be finding it.

OR figure out what books you probably don't feel like reading and toss those first? Or finish the books then sort through them? It seems like you can do one before the other. ^^

I have no opinion to offer, and would base the decision on how close I am to the library and how often I go there. If it's on the other side of town and you have to make a special trip for it, buying the book could be cheaper. If you're okay with it, you could buy a used book in good condition online.

Yay, event start! \ o / Now I don't have to hold myself back on doing these things anymore!
Also, added another thing to the list because I realized oops, I need to do that too. Thankfully, it's an easier one. xD
Actually, maybe I'll do that one first, just to get my feet wet. It's not hard, just time consuming, and it'll be nice to know once I'm done.

Am going to tackle my ornament shelves. At least 18 years worth of collected trinkets, wish me luck guyz. xD (as part of my 'get that room looking sensible before I skedaddle out of there' goal.)
