Pick the Next Paintbrush!

It was a tough pick for me between Marble and Candy, but I ended up voting for Candy. Agreed with some people here that Floral doesn't quite look right.

I tossed up between candy and marble without really hating on floral at all

I went with candy, because I think marble would quickly get old and be "just another marble pet" - effectively just a variant of green albeit much prettier.

Candy, by contrast, I'd be quite interested to see where the artist's creativity takes them with that.

As we've previously (cynically) observed, the pet design person seems to be the only real artist left with TNT, so may as well see some good, creative work from them I figure!

I thought I'd go for Marble, but upon further reflection, went with Candy. Both are good, and both have plenty of potential, but I think the little touch of the Elephante gem being a piece of candy won me over.

Floral has so much potential and reminds me of Bloemencorsos, if only it didn't have that weird texture ;_; I guess any attempt at realism could send it down uncanny valley.

Candy: nonono that looks so fake. Doesn't look like anything I've ever eaten. Seeing such unnatural colours labelled as food is just too weird to me. xD

Marble: AW YES this is the one. I love that texture and the possible colour variations. It could be like a more interesting version of Pastel.

Candy might've been a better sell for me if it wasn't all BRIGHT PINK WOAH. And Floral is just... well, whatever I might think of Floral is largely moot because I doubt most of that texture would show up in small view. So yeah, I picked Marble for its sheer potential. The green option isn't doing it for me but I'm foreseeing a lot of exciting variations with black and white marble or any of those nice icy blue varieties.

I went with Candy because I have a pet on a side account that that color would fit perfectly. It makes for a great complement to Chocolate. Marble is pretty as well, though. I don't really care for Floral. To be honest, before I saw the name, I thought it was supposed to be a Piñata.

I initially liked floral... before I realized it was floral. My first thought was "OOOO! Pinata! Cool!" and then I went to the voting page. "Oh. Floral. Meh." So now I'm between marble and candy, and I like them both for different reasons. As long as the marble ones are different colors, I think I may go with that, but I'm not sure. I'm talking about this like I'll actually paint any of my pets again. I have matching rainbow pets, so... yeah. Probably not.

I really like Sugar Rush from Wreck it Ralph, so the idea of different kinds of candy pets is interesting.
But I really love Marble too. Floral just isn't doing anything for me. I know a lot of work went into just drawing that, but to me, we already have woodland pets that can be flowery. We also have a lot of flowery necklaces and stuff to customize with.

Really, if you had told me that the Marble was lemon lime candy, I would believe it. Candy can be marbled if you think about it. So either way, I think you would get a nice look. What I like about the marble pet could easily work just as well for candy.

If Marble wins, but you wanted candy, then maybe you will get lucky and they will do a marbled pet of your species and it still looks like candy too.


I'm voting for Marble because you could add little details to your customization and maybe it will look like candy anyway.

I just took a closer look at Marble and I can see little bubbles inside it. Like bubbles inside of a glass marble. So this really is like a marble. Not Marble rock, but a marble you play with. I was originally thinking this was like a Marble rock. So since this is more like glass, they can do it any color they choose to do it. With Marble rock, it doesn't come in every single color. But this is more like glass and you can make glass any color you want to.

So I put it into an image editor and played around with hue and saturation and such. What I notice is that when it is blue, it really looks like water. So I think if they are going to do pets that are like marbles, then they should not have a lot of blue, so it isn't so much like water or maracitite or ice.

I went with Marble.

The deciding question for me was this: what would a rush job in this color look like? Because these examples are pretty good, but every color inevitably has some lazy iterations. (E.G., look at the Christmas usul compared to Christmas pets in general.)

Candy is nice but it looks like it's going to rely heavily on detail to look good. (Imagine if half of these just end up with, like, badly-mapped solid peppermint stripes.) Whereas Marble has the potential for interesting color combinations regardless. So I chose marble.

Like Allison, I honestly thought Floral was piñata at first XD; Decent piñata, poor floral in my opinion.

It's a tough call.. I think both the other options have potential for really cool varieties -- I wouldn't be opposed to either winning, or have the other option come back at a later date for the next paint brush. So, I went with what I preferred out of the two shown and went with Candy ('cause I prefer the hot pink over the weird green tenfold).

*Offers marbles, flowers, & candy in the hopes that this gets into the editorial.* In the New Features announcement for the new PB colours you guys said "(NOTE: the paintbrush style will vary slightly between pets.)". Personally, I think Marble could look AWESOME and way better if it came in colours other than green like that! Blue, or red, or pink or white or yellow or even black, for example!! Please tell me that that NOTE truly means Marble will come in other colours, CQ! P.S. If this gets into the editorial, please omit my username!! ~ username removed

Hi there, and thanks for the gifts, flattery will get you everywhere! Just like any other complex paint brush, each one will be a little different and have unique colours/designs that make it special!

So what do you make of this? Confirmation that the Colours will vary depending on species? Of course I'm curious what this means for Candy. Marble being different colors and Floral using different flowers is easy enough to see, but with Candy the question wasn't with the color but would they use other kinds of Candy. Sure, they could color the peppermint design differently, but if that's the plan it would be a major missed opportunity for a Colour of that concept and we might as well just gone with Marble which I expect that to be the case with.

Chose Marble because it is shiny and I like the veined look. I hope they come up with a blue Marble pet next, I think blue's a nice colour to go with a marbled texture. Although black Marble sounds cool too.
