Thanks guys! I mostly block in colors because once I try to blend it's... downhill from there haha. I think I get so focused blending I just forget theat these things are supposed to be, y'know, actual *values.* Aaand I am running out of art, so have this quick ... thing? of psellia. You know, I didn't realize she had this shoulder-frill-thing reminiscent of a toga until I actually tried drawing it. That's a neat piece of design. x)

Doing lineart makes me feel better than coloring things in because it's actually doable. Whereas coloring is a nightmaare digitally. It's terrible to stay in the lines. >> Have some Aishas: The Gelert Assassin, because he was such an important character who... oh. JERAN, THE MOST CONSEQUENTIAL CHARACTER ON NEOPETS Jhudora. Thankfully, she's not like Illusen. Maybe. Roberta of Brightvale. idk, Two TDF characters in one post??? I don't even like this game all that much.

I find it funny that you like to do line art, since for most artists that tends to be the least favorite part of a drawing. xD
Also, depending on what program you're using, you might check if there's a magic wand or quick selection tool. Those can be used to immediately select everything inside of whatever lines you've drawn (provided there are no gaps). It makes filling in color SO MUCH faster and easier.

I'm one of those artists who considers the lineart step to be utterly painful. xD So you are really lucky to actually like that part, haha.
Anyway, I love the poses for the Gelert Assassin and Jhudora especially! The Gelert's looks so dynamic, and Jhudora's just holds so much attitude. The wrinkles and folds on her dress are spot-on as well. ^^

Lineart is simply the least painful process in digital art. Though I guess I just really like the elegance and simplicity of lines--like, I dunno, it feels with one stroke you can imply so much and the power gets to your head, man!!! *laughs like a megalomaniac* In real traditional artwork, I really like shading. there's a certain kinesthetic feel to it that's hard to replicate on a computer. I am slowly getting better at drawing Jerans. The first is just a coloring in of a Jeran, and the second is a sketch of Jeran... idk, he's not in a t-shirt, it's a TUNIC THAT HAPPENS TO LOOK LIKE A T-SHIRT, very different. And my second-favorite character is the Court Dancer!

In the interest of not defiling Caylista's pristine art thread... "You wouldn't happen to have some blood left? I hope you didn't sell it all to the black market, dearie!" OKAY, it doesn't bother anyone else that people are just freely buying and selling blood, right? I mean, Count Von Roo must be having a field day, and poor Boris is probably trying to chug blood in the hopes of turning into a vampire. Here's some MATH: According to the item description, wraith blood is one pound. The average density of human blood is 1060 g/L. One pound is 453.592 grams. so 1 lb * 453.592g/1lb * 1L/1060g = 0.427917 L of blood, or 0.45217 quarts of blood. According to Jellyneo, the price of one "Wraith Blood" is 10,000 NP so One litre of blood is equivalent to 23370 NP In the real world, one litre of blood is $712 dollars on the black market. Since the work required to gain $712 dollars in real life is a lot more than the work to gain 23370 NP, we can say that effectively, the labor cost of blood in Neopia is tiny. Which means, yeah, drink away, vampires, and I guess hospitals and the Thieves' Guild. (Don't get me started on Bloody Slushies YO.) This has been Neopetting with Moni and you should be glad I wasn't active here during TFR.

Okay, but is that KANRIK. WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM.
In all sincerity, I will not be surprised if it turns out Granny Hobgoblin is the one who runs the Neopian Black Market. I mean, who else has a stash of r99s big enough to fuel FOUR Charity Corners?
But I think it's safe to say this is the Neopia JS envisioned. They wanted to make blood more available on the market. For the vampires and hospitals and such.
Though I'm wracking my brain trying to think of what happened during TFR...

Kanrik has been dealt with temporarily because he tried to cross the true leader of the Thieves' Guild! Granny Hoboboboboboblinphantommenacewhyisthisnamehardtoremember!
I remember TFR's neoboards being very salty--and that's why I didn't really go near them, heh. There were also a... surprising amount of stone and masonry facts I shared at the time! For example, assuming that the faeries' volumes were conserved but not their masses (because magic!) how much could you build using a single faerie? Not to mention all the stoner jokes you could make! It was truly a blessed time.
... on an unrelated note, does anyone know how foreshortening works? I've been trying to draw a bird's-eye view figure, and even from reference it looks like a monstrosity that rivals cthulu. What I'm wondering is, how many monsters were born from the fact that foreshortening is hard?
(And thus to spare your dreams I will not be posting any of my foreshortening, because it is truly, truly something that man's eyes were never meant to see.)

Ah, gotcha. To be honest, the only thing I remember from the boards during TFR were all the people accusing Jazan of being the villain at the beginning.
As for foreshortening, If you're drawing a human-esque figure, or any figure really, I would be sure to use shapes for each body part. So even if you're drawing from reference, don't just try to eye-ball the outline: break down the figure by drawing your head, arms, torso, pelvis, legs, all as overlapping shapes so you can be sure you know what your proportions are. I'm sorry I can't be more technical, but that's the best I've got. :')

What I'm wondering is, how many monsters were born from the fact that foreshortening is hard? Have you tried the Coil Technique? I haven't tried it much myself, but I hear it works Good and its simplicity is appealing. You use a spiral that twirls back or forth to sketch the... the thing that needs to going back or forth. I can't look up the video right now but there was a tutorial by a Youtube user called Sycra.

Thanks, Caylista! I haven't had much motivation to... do anything at all, really, least of all proper art. But have some more Lissandre in sketch form, because everyone needs a break. Also, kids, this is why you use references, because then you have a solid sketch.

thanks, teow! I'm posting here really to make a post here. I haven't really touched a pen in... a little over a month, digital or otherwise. I don't really want to draw and there's nothing worth drawing--which is honestly the same as anything else. This looks really rough but this batch of sketches took me a half hour more or less to do (a lot i just ended up erasing), and my hands cramped a bunch. Really unimpressive, but honestly it feels like my maximum atm.
