I've been playing Neopets since September 2000 and it has gone through a ton of changes over the years. There have been many features on Neopets that have come and gone and I've recently started a personal quest to find some of these features that are no longer an active part of the site. I was wondering if I could get some help in this quest.
I would like to start a project that I call 'Neopets Nostalgia Quests.' The idea behind this project is to have participants search for various Neopets features that are no longer around. Examples of these features could be old pet images, former world maps, former shopkeepers, old flash animations, or old site headers. It's basically a quest to seek out retro elements that made Neopets a great site.
Before I begin this project, I would like to know if anyone would be interested in participating in it. Whether you're a former player or a current one; whether you've been playing for a few years or since the days of the yellow sidebar, it would be great to have some help in finding various things that were once a part of Neopets.
Would anyone be interested in joining me on my quest to seek out retro Neopets features?

I had a pretty big compilation of old/forgotten pages here, if that helps. It's from seven years ago (oh gods), so I'm not sure how much of that stuff is still active. But sure, I enjoy picking around the older parts of the site. |

I remember neoboard antics mostly...especially the Green Uni Project xD. I've lost my screenies though.  Hardly a feature but it highlighted the need for a pet transfer feature. |

I seem to remember having to fax a parental permission form when I was under 13 in order to use the NeoBoards; I'm not sure if that's still around in the same sense or if they've made it easier. <_<
Also that all your pets' stats were displayed on the Quick Ref page from the get-go, rather than having to click their portrait to see them.
Also the Lost Desert Calculator (who could possibly forget that?).
Also when Neopia only had one side and it was so amazing when they made it so you could actually TURN it.
Probably a lot of stuff if I sat here a while, but I'm sure most of the other people's guides here will have it already.

Wow, guys; I'm very pleased with the responses I'm getting here! I love all the things you've shared so far and I haven't asked for anything specific yet. Thank you for sharing these things; I believe this is going to be a very fun project!!! So, I came up with this idea when I was trying to find some of the flash button advertisements from the old yellow sidebar that used to make up Neopets' navigational layout. You guys know what I'm talking about right; that old yellow sidebar that we had before April 2007? That sidebar had a spot for a small flash button that would feature one of several advertisements. Advertisements such as these: images.neopets.com/buttons/444_1_v2.swfimages.neopets.com/buttons/how_to_draw.swfimages.neopets.com/buttons/gallery_of_evil.swfimages.neopets.com/buttons/fruitmachine.swfimages.neopets.com/buttons/cheat.swfimages.neopets.com/buttons/tugowar.swfimages.neopets.com/buttons/shapeshifter.swfimages.neopets.com/buttons/neoquest2.swfNow, I would like to find more of these flash advertisement buttons from Neopets while they're still online - this is the first quest of this project. Now I've found the above buttons by several means. - A few of them were found because I discovered them on the Neopets' News Features,
- I found some others from some screen grabs that I still had on my computer,
- And there were those that I found when I was able to guess the url for them,
My hope is that we can find more of these buttons either from the News Features or from any old screen captures that we have. If you know of any that are not listed here, please share it here by posting the url!  I'm only looking for the buttons that link to games and features on Neopets - I'm not looking for any of the third party advertisements. So what do you all think? Will we be able to discover more of these buttons? |

Which sucked because there was a looot of stuff you couldn't do without parental permission. XD Also all those buttons are giving me the true nostalgia oh man |

I remember painting at least 2, if not 3 of my pets using the old rainbow fountain, that only required something with sponsored ads.

I was around since 2000, so I've been through ALL the plots, although I was never able to contribute. Then my account got hacked, and I started a new one that became super-successful by doing things I thought I could never do - have four (now FIVE) painted pets, actually participating in plots, and even getting into the NT.
So yeah, I remember a lot of stuff, like the deus ex machina at the end of the first Meridell plot that had Darigan go evil/crazy at the end. I HATED that twist. A LOT.
