I played one game of yooyuball and five of shootout showdown I feel accomplished I'm not doing any more Rank 1 is an avvy, and 30 minutes of 1goal ShSh should do it. But I agree, it can be very boring. Usually around this time of year I keep a backlog of movies, series, Let's Plays, and the like to watch while I do the maximum Shootout Showdown contribution per day, and the occasional game of Yooyuball if I feel like it. Usually it doesn't last the month. <_< (The max for Shootout Showdown is 762 games a day, you can end game and send score after one goal and it still counts, and you can get it done within a couple hours if you're fast--the Chia's movement is ridiculously predictable in the first few seconds, so pressing the left arrow key twice and shooting should get you the one goal you need fairly mechanically, so you can watch something at the same time.) (Yooyuball is at least doable with the mouse alone. Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise are both terrible.) That said, I've missed a couple days thanks to travel but I'm at rank 11 with just short of 7000 Shootout Showdown games.

(Yooyuball is at least doable with the mouse alone. Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise are both terrible.) That said, I've missed a couple days thanks to travel but I'm at rank 11 with just short of 7000 Shootout Showdown games. I go back and watch Let's Plays as well (and sometimes music soundtracks). In addition to doing the max amount of Shootout Showdown I also max out Yooyuball (however I play very little of Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, those games last a bit too long for my tastes). Previous years I was able to do it for the whole month but don't know about this year, BUT I got to All-Star already so personally I considered my minimum contribution done. Here are the "min" scores, prize points worth, and cap for each game (and my thoughts on them): Yooyuball:Min: ? Points: 12 Cap: 68 Comment: While I don't know if it has a min score, with every goal removing 8 seconds from the clock a game of Yooyuball is actually between 2 to 3 minutes depending on how many goals you score and if you skip the Yooyu transition screen. You also can't end the game like with the others, you need to play until the timer runs out. Finally with Yooyuball being the only game that counts how many goals you've scored in addition to how many you played (not to mention how easy it is to run circles about the opponent IA) I think its actually faster to just play as intended. And assuming each game takes roughly 3 minutes it takes 3 hours and under 30 minutes to play all 68 games. That seems a lot, but if you spread them out (like play 10 games and take a break) it becomes much more bearable. Slushie Slinger:Min: 300 Points: 6 Cap: 139 Comment: Even with you only needing 300 for the score to count that still takes more than 3 minutes to get to. To me its just not really worth the time. It's worth half as much as Yooyuball but takes longer to get to the min score. I just play a handful just to look nice on my stat. Make Some Noise:Min: 3,000 Points: 1 Cap: 762 Comment: You can get to 3k real quick depending how fast you can tap the keyboard, but compared to Shootout Showdown its still longer. Also the constant tapping is probably doing a number on you keyboard, and for some reason my laptop starts getting overheated when playing it so I can't play it for long without me worrying about damaging my laptop. Shootout Showdown:Min: 1 Goal Points: 1 Cap: 762 Comment: With it taking about 5 seconds to score a goal and send score, its probably the fastest to max out. Assuming it takes like 1 minute to score 10 goals, you need an hour and 20 minutes to max out. That's no time at all if you're watching something alongside it. Now I personally like throwing in 2, 3, 4, and 5 goal games once in a while, but still most of the games I do are 1 goal (I don't think I would even bother maxing it if I needed to score all 5 goals). NOTE: When I say "min" score what I mean is that if you're under that min, while your stats will still count you played the game, you will not get any prize points for that game. Now personally I think they need to redo the games to make them all a bit fair, but that's another topic. My source is this petpage if you're wondering.

Looks like we can expect the laid off staff members to be replaced later today. I still wished JSN had not done what they did prior to the Staff Tournament because it still sent out the wrong message. It's more than likely that the substitutes will be someone working with Jumpstart.

People are not going to be happy about that... Of course they are sounding chipper about it. Everyone is upset by the changes, they are trying to be upbeat and give us a chance to anticipate the changes in roster. They are hardly going to be all gloom and doom about something they know people are upset about already. All they can do is try to show that nothing is going to change/the changes will be good. What did you want them to do?

I wonder if those of us with Droplet, DJ Skellington, and Breik will have our teams changed FOR us when the substitutions are announced or if we'll be able to keep them and just earn 0 points for it?

What did you want them to do? Well I can't speak for Carolyn, but I get slightly frustrated when they pretend nothing's wrong. Certainly they wouldn't do anything else, I'll give you that. I'm going to try not to be mad at the new staff members for something they had no control over. And I'm not saying that any of the changes can't be good. *shrug* I just dislike being led around the circles with misleading messages. (Also I know text is hard to get inflection from so I wanted to be clear I wasn't angry/mad. Just saying my thoughts.)

Like we demanded of Neostaff before them, I want acknowledgement of the reality we're facing. I don't want them to pretend this isn't more layoffs and that we didn't notice.

I'm sort of confused? If you guys are expecting them to write "Sorry, we layed off several of the people in the staff tournament so they need to be replaced now" that's not going to happen. In any other context when a major corporation parts with employees, they are under no obligation to explain themselves to customers because unless it impacts the functionality of the product it isn't the customer's business. Droplet losing her job doesn't have any impact on the Altador Cup aside from them now needing to replace her in the staff tournament. Getting mad if they refuse to talk to us about the fate of the Neopian Times makes sense, but in this context it's just disappointing because this was a person we all admired and had a rapport with. It's like a friend of the unemployed person marching up to the CEO and demanding he state he fired their friend on all his company's advertising.
It's not that I don't understand the frustration guys, I do. But if you keep asking for them to explain all their business decisions on the newspage or facebook the cycle of anger and mistrust is never going to go away. The whole situation is seriously depressing, but it's unrealistic to expect the Jumpstaff to come to us on their hands and knees and beg forgiveness because they're not going to.

Shinko : They were up front about acknowledging the last round of lay-offs in the News. Granted, I think they're smart enough to know that the community at large knows what happened, but it still bugs me that they were honest with us the first time while this second time they just cutely danced around the subject with a side-note about substitutions thrown in at the end of the news posting. And I get your point, but I would argue that the functionality of the site is being impacted here. While it's certainly Jumpstart's right to change things if they want, some of the things that have happened since the initial layoffs have seemed more like oversights than planned policy changes. TNT staffers wouldn't have let painted petpets stock in Neopian shops or morphing potions get created for color+species combos that don't exist. This is an entirely different point, but I just saw on the boards that apparently everyone's Staff Tourney scores are the exact same as last year's (go figure). Unless they get it fixed before the scores are put up, you should get the same amount of points this time as you got for last year's first round no matter who is on your roster.

Shinko I understand. They wouldn't spell out all their plans and even if they did I'd probably still be upset. Change is hard, but I'll have to get over it. I'll try to keep a more positive outlook. I apologize if I've been irritating.
