You are supposed to use the strong tag for emphasis (bold text and more emphasis if you use text to voice), at least that's what's best practice.

It's obvious that the first two posts after the big one from Lord (the same one, might I add, that already appeared on FB and The Official TNT Message Board) did not do the research (it's not the first time Neo had a app on FB, that honour goes to Treasure Keepers). Carolyn- those two posts that I already mentioned are cringe-worthy as well, due to some glaring errors. And a little lag affecting some users? That's an understatement as the lag, which has been ongoing for at least a couple of months is affecting the majority.

Not to mention offsite links- which TNT never does for safety reasons.

Not to mention offsite links- which TNT never does for safety reasons. Omigosh, I said the same thing. O.O Totally freaked out when I saw that they linked offsite. I don't think this Jumpstart employee ever read the Rules and Regulations of the site at all. Not to mention saw how any of TNT's previous new posts were handled. Also "exiting." Oh boy. >_> Someone, please hire Comastar back.

I wouldn't get them for offsite links. Links to Facebook are all over the community page and iTunes (which should say App Store really) is kind of the only place to get iOS apps and Apple has their own safety (must be 13+ or under parent account to use Apple device and download apps).
As tempting as it is, I'd advise against nitpicking everything Jumpstart does because I feel that's not going to do much good. I know I just did in my above post but I'm going to try to avoid doing that again.
Not to mention, it's now their site so they can do what they want with the T&C and Privacy Policy. Do make yourself informed of those changes if they happen.

Oh right. :/ I suppose they could rewrite the rules however they please.
I mean, I suppose that's true, although FB isn't something that was linked on the news page before, right?

Both sites are bound by California regulations which are a bit stricter actually, at least that's what I read a while ago. (Apple is based in Cupertino and Facebook in Menlo Park). You have to be 13+ with an account to access things. However the Neopets T&C they still have a lot of leeway on.

I think that was the most soulless news post ever. It's just...... ugh.

Annnd I called it. They're going to have a heck of a time trying to match the joking, informal tone of the site. But then, that was a style cultivated over many years as the writers found their groove. This current update feels stiff and lifeless, but whoever wrote it is probably just as surprised as we are that they're doing so. If old TNT only found out they were getting laid off on Friday, then wouldn't that mean that the new crew found out they were taking over at the same time? (This isn't a rhetorical question; if someone with more knowledge of business can confirm/deny this, I'd appreciate it.) Anyway, give them a while to find a groove. I think what we're seeing now is kind of like rewatching the first few episodes of a show after seeing the entire series, and then noticing how everything was just a bit off because the writers and actors weren't quite sure what to do with the story yet.

Might be that they don't even have new people yet As in: Boss to random programmer dude who's still on site: Hey, can you throw a newspost together ever so quick? People have been asking and we're losing money. Programmer dude: Um. Boss: Come on, won't have to be long, just X Y and Z, you can write like everyone else, right? Programmer dude: Um? D: In my line of work, I'll occasionally (actually pretty often) see texts that've been written by a specialist of some other field. You can tell when they've been sweating to get the words onto the paper because writing just isn't their thing. And in this case it's even worse because poor hypothetical programmer dude knows that thousands of people are specifically expecting to see this text and will judge it and it's like college paper deadlines meshed with that nightmare when you're in public naked.

I can empathize. I seem to remember back when Josh (Mr. Shankley) left Neopets (was laid off?) and a large number of NTWF people quit as well. I somehow ended up in charge after being made a junior Staff member not a couple of weeks before because I was trying to handle the drama and the main Admins had decided to retire at the same time. The NTWF was only about 6 months old at the time.
It was a mess at first, but time, gained experience, and a desire to NOT have the NTWF go away seems to have paid off. We're still here despite the mistakes I made.

If you did decide to install that Ghoul game, note that a number of Apple services are down so you can't download app as of now. Edit: Most services are back up but not iTunes yet (App Store is up but iTunes handles authorization of app downloads/purchases). You can always check the status here: www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

Which is why I don't want to mock the news post and tear it apart, I'm afraid it was written by one of the few remaining Staff members. I'm curious if its anyone we know, if they were indeed one of the remaining staff I wonder if they had introduced themselves as such ( "Hey everyone, it's (programmer/support staff/monitor)...") would anyone be lambasting the post. Of course knowing how any people are they'd probably complain how a remaining TNT member posted the news yet haven't activated anything they said they activated or how they were pushing JumpStart agenda on us. *sigh*

Whoever wrote it was clearly trying to emulate the usual Neo news style, and therefore knew they had some pretty big shoes to fill. Let's face it, it's essentially impossible for the news to be considered acceptable right now. Had it been in the usual style, people would be all "They're trying to act like everything's okay! PITCHFORKS!", had it been a remaining staff member, people would be "You're not telling us what's been happening! TORCHES!" and if it was a new staff member trying their bestest to adapt the old style and pick the site up where TNT left it off, people would be "You're not TNT, therefore we don't accept you! OTHER POINTY FARM UTENSILS!" *has a thoroughly accurate image of angry mobs*
