Oh dear... That news isn't even finished, and I don't just mean the broken images. The AG and BC winners aren't even listed. The Gelert clothes are missing, too, and who knows what else. Edit: The colors aren't active. Just checked with my FFQ. ):

Something we were talking about on skype, but the whole post just comes off kinda uncanny valley. Like they're trying valiantly to capture that jokey, informal tone TNT uses but not quite carrying it off.
Also I'm scratching my head at the fact that the big app release they've been building up to for so long doesn't have any promotional art with it's news post. It's really easy to just skim past it.

Much exit. So update.
I mean, there was no way this news post was going to be received well, so I do feel for whoever wrote it. But their time would have been better spent writing a post about what we can expect in terms of new features now.

Now that I've temporarily regained any and all words that would NOT end up being censored on this site... I can at least write actual ROMANCE in my stories if the NT is going the way of the dino. PG-rated romance, but still, I won't have any reason to avoid it without the NT disallowing it :/ If the NT does go the way of the dino, I can post that series I never finished without having to dance around the violence 8D Ahaha For real though, I definitely don't think this is the end of Neopets, but I'm holding off for now on judgment until we see what exactly JumpStart intends to do with it. If nothing else, I foresee standalone games like the new mobile app becoming more common.

Tch, I can't even get onto the site to read the news. I don't even know if it's lag anymore, because it'll try for a while, then return a broken page. :/

It's can't be lag - since they fixed the lag by taking away lookups. Totally not a made up excuse.

At this point, it seems more like sabotage, as in, they're intentionally lagging the site, rather than server issues.

I think them intentionally lagging the site is a bit of an extreme- that's a lot of money to spend to intentionally sabotage themselves.

At this point, it seems more like sabotage, as in, they're intentionally lagging the site, rather than server issues. I'm pretty sure you're just being paranoid. We only have a skeleton crew of programmers who are probably working even harder to fix the lag then they were before. That said, it IS a pretty tall order to task a much smaller group of people with a workload that many other people weren't able to fix.

At this point, it seems more like sabotage, as in, they're intentionally lagging the site, rather than server issues. I highly doubt that - more likely there just aren't enough servers to handle the load. Neopets has a huge amount of users, visitors, data, and content - that puts a huge strain on the system to handle all of the site requests - page code, stylesheets, images, data like usernames, petnames, NP, etc., and changes to those values (meaning it has to validate that the change is good to make, find the item in the database, replace the item in the database, return an update that it's made the change/that it failed, update any other values that might be associated with that change - and some of those steps require making checks to other parts of the database, so it starts more resembling one of those Russian nesting dolls...). And from a purely business standpoint - if JumpStart purposely lags the site, that means fewer people are going to see the advertisements, and fewer people are going to risk making money transactions to buy Neocash or Premium - so they're almost definitely losing money right now. And that's exactly the opposite of what JumpStart wants; and heck, them laying off TNT and reducing to a skeleton crew on an already troubled site suggests they are indeed having financial issues already.

Oh my gosh... this News Features post made me realize how much skill it takes to do even a little bit of writing. This does NOT make me want to download Ghoul Catchers. In fact it makes me feel offended, like I haven't already heard about the "FIRST-EVER mobile game." This on the other hand was also a marketing-related post, but didn't sound half as annoying. It even sounded fun: Especially since it came after a whole bunch of lively updates about things happening in the community. I am really going to miss the friendly-sounding News Features.

Not to mention, it isn't EVEN their first ever mobile game! Or did they forget about Neopets Mobile, with Lutari Island-- why, of course they didn't forget, they NEVER KNEW. Because this site is run by all new people who probably never played Neopets before.

First smartphone mobile game is what they were aiming for, I believe. Neopets Mobile was for feature phones (which, depending on if you use a smartphone now, can seem like a long time ago). It's probably because JumpStart themselves didn't make any mobile apps until the smartphone generation.
That said, I doubt they even took a look at any of the work, any progress made while TNT was making the smartphone app. You don't throw away creative works like that so casually, you just don't.
