Beta & Earthlings: I like Peridot and Lapis' dynamic. XD And what they've done with the place. I guess they must've been really preoccupied with it because Peri's twitter has been dead throughout. XD I was suspecting that the Crystal Gems had taken out Pink Diamond. There had been enough visual clues dropped that it was looking pretty likely. Centi's drawing being the biggest, to me. One way or another, I wonder how it was pulled off. (Seems like it had been by the time the pyramid in Serious Steven had been made.) The tidbits about Kindergartens were interesting. Peri trying to show off her metal powers. Said powers poofing Jasper at the end was pretty awesome, even if I feel bad for Jasp. I liked the mentions of Carnelian and Smokey Quartz. I'd been looking up quartzes since the Gem Hunt episode. Speaking of which, yeah Killix , my family had been expecting Jasper to fuse with the corrupted Jaspers since Gem Hunt. We guessed that was what she was going for from the start, but I guess she wasn't quite that reckless. Well, at first. I did suspect the corruption would spread through fusion. Also: Looks like Steven can fuse with regular Gems. Huh. Also also: The Rubies are back! Go figure that they only come back after Jasper is poofed and bubbled. XD I wonder if Steven's going to actually name them this time. (Apparently he was originally going to the first time the showed up, from what I can gather.) Go figure that they only come back after Jasper is poofed and bubbled. XD More Leggy and Navel and Doc and Army and uhh... I forgot the other names... But really, I like them all. I think like Leggy and Eyeball the most. But yeah, I like them all.

Bismuth Okay. What. Just. Happened? Seriously, though, so much happened in this episode. Then again, it was around 23-ish minutes...
I admit, I saw the leaks, but I thought Bismuth was just going to be another part of the team. Not... that! Seriously, I really like her. I was happy to see her. Then things got dark. I never thought Bismuth would be like that. I'm kinda happy she is, though, because I found that interesting. I was surprised when she pointed the breaking point to herself. Part of me was like, "Noooo." while the other (evil) part was like, "Yes, shatter her." because that would make it interesting.
Since Bismuth was not shattered, I think she'll return in future episodes. I hope she does. Beta & Earthlings Okay, who said Jasper would get corrupted? You were right. Beta was nice and lighthearted. I love how Lapis and Peridot redid the barn. And Peridot took the bowtie off her alien. X3 She's so cute. Peridot in both episodes was amazing. Earthlings, however, was pretty serious. Amethyst, though, trying to prove herself. I can see why she wants to, though. And Smoky Quartz. Oooh, Smoky Quartz. Presenting my new favorite fusion! I love her (them?) so much. When Jasper got corrupted, though, I was kinda disturbed. That was so creepy. Then Peridot skewers her. And the Rubies came back. Cuz SU needs a new antagonist. Also, I can see a lot of discussion about what happened to Pink Diamond. I think the most popular theory, and what I believe happened, is that Rose shattered her. Though I can see her getting corrupted as well. Heh, or she's bubbled in the bubble room. XD (The last one, maybe not.) Also something I noticed in Crack the Whip... How has nobody mentioned this yet? This is Amethyst regenerating. I noticed that as she was regenerating, she sort of went to a corrupted form before reforming. My brother said that she rushed her regeneration, and I bet she did, but I think she almost came out corrupted. Might have been Jasper's words mixed with her already existing self-doubt.

Naw, remember how in Reformed Amethyst kept rushing her regeneration and one of her forms had a super-large arm?
You may have noticed back in Steven the Sword Fighter that when Pearl regenerated, she more or less "cycled" through her previous forms before emerging in her latest one. That's all that's being seen with Amethyst here too.

Back to the Moon Haha, this episode was hilarious. Amethyst pretending to be Jasper was the greatest. XD
Oh, and Rose shattered Pink Diamond? Oops. (I'm still skeptical.)

Some really great episodes lately, particularly with all the things that have been shown and/or revealed. Bismuth: Guest gem! And that answers why she was in Rose's lion, especially since it turned out that she was a CG.
That was quite a heavy episode. Given her general behavior, I kinda saw it coming that she would be very... war and battle-oriented. I saw it as an analogy to war mentality and what it can do to a person. Especially when they're just coming to it from either nothing or from a bad background and are just given the freedom to do that, and thus don't know anything else. And in that war, that was an asset, but now that it's over... She still has that war mentality and doesn't know anything else. That's something that can be really tough to get over, especially since she was out of service for 5000+ years since.
A rather heartbreaking episode, really. Beta and Earthlings: Ahh, so Steven can fuse with other Gems. I'd been kind of leaning towards it being possible anyway at this point, but I wasn't sure. It's nice to see it confirmed. ^^ And pretty neat to see that fusion in particular still being childish but also super competent.
(And it was neat to see Amethyst and Steven working through their troubles in the fact of the Ultimate Being who knocked Amethyst down hard. I've really been feeling for Amethyst lately.)
Also, all that training and obsessing over Jasper, and Amethyst didn't even get the poof. But then, Peridot hadn't poofed anyone by that point. And besides, given what had just happened to Jasper...
...I mean, I called it, but seeing it happen... dang.
Though I wonder if the corruption would've happened if Jasper hadn't fused with the corrupted gem. She seemed to be going that way anyway, but I still wonder if that sped it up. Back to the Moon Seems like there's no just an arc about gem corruption, but also pacifism vs quickly ending the threat. (Also seen in 'Bismuth'.) Particularly the stuff with Pink Diamond. (I am super happy that there's finally being more said about her; I've really been wondering about the story with her.) I'd wondered what happened to her, and didn't fully expect her to be shattered.
And maybe it's false... But I'm not skeptical. I believe it happened. Rose may have a general bent towards pacifism (or at least, not outright shattering and instead opting for poofing when need be), but nobody's perfect. And it doesn't help that Pink Diamond was one of the big leaders in charge of the colonization and other questionable things the Diamonds were doing. Perhaps she shattered her to eliminate one of the big leaders of the colonization and thought it justified. Leadership is about hard decisions, after all. Or maybe doing so helped lead to her pacifistic bent. There are still so many unanswered questions there.
This also even further explains the hatred towards Rose Quartz. I always thought it was just because she was leader of the rebellion that was successful, but this brings a lot more to it.
Anyway, I still want to hear more about Pink Diamond and the story there. (Especially if I'm right and Pearl was one of Pink Diamond's originally. She might well know more about it.) Though I bet that'll come eventually. And in the meantime, it'll be interesting seeing Steven coping with what his mother did. (Especially that on top of the other questionable thing Rose did as revealed in Bismuth. Seems we're learning a lot more about Rose that isn't so... rosey. Which I expected. There's always more to a person than meets the eye, even if they're still overall good.)

More BttM discussion On the topic of PD being ded: While I am not skeptical that PD was shattered, I'm more skeptical that it was Rose who did it. One of the consistent themes about Homeworld is that they love their propaganda.
If Eyeball isn't lying about what she saw (Rose Quartz shattering Pink Diamond), then maybe that's exactly what she saw. But remember that things are not always as they appear. The main plot of this episode was Amethyst shape shifting into Jasper to fool the Rubies - and it worked. They couldn't tell that "Jasper" was an imposter until they saw Amethyst drop her disguise.
What if another gem shape shifted into Rose Quartz and assassinated PD? As either a frame up, or something else?
Just something I was pondering. XD
Pearl did it, and that's why she doesn't shape shift any more, the guilt haunts her 4lyf.

More BttM Hmm, it's possible that it could be propaganda. It's definitely not outside the Realm of the Homeworld gems. But at the same time, why would they go as far as to destroy their own Diamond just to frame Rose? Unless she's not dead, but everyone seems to think she is. No one recognizes her as a current authority figure anymore.
Also, wouldn't the idea of someone destroying a diamond only hurt the legitimacy of the authority of Homeworld? They believe their diamonds to be the utmost perfect beings, but they would think that less if one of them was destroyed by some lower-ranking gem.
I just don't think the motives add up for that theory.
Unless it was the act of one of the gems allied with Earth to try to bring more legitimacy to Rose while they did the action themselves; that motive would add up a little better. Pearl, you fiend! Or maybe it was some other gem that did it, and Homeworld just blamed Rose to have an enemy figure. But I don't think so; there seemed to be eyewitnesses on both sides.

(Right now, we don't even know who directly witnessed the shattering, except for Eyeball. If trickery happened, I can believe that Eyeball would be fooled.)
The "propaganda" I'm talking about isn't necessarily in Homeworld being the ones who set things up and murdered PD, but in how they retell the story.
Ah, one of many different ways this whole Rose vs. Pink Diamond story could go. Worth mentioning because we can never know what is foreshadowing and what is just a cute, but irrelevant episode plot. XD
Pearl fought for her freedom a little too hardcore.

Doing these out of order. XD (Warning: I ramble a lot.) General recent: Garnet's been removing/lowering her shades more often lately, and I love it. Anyone else notice they seem to like Fusions/Gems with 'S' names? Sugilite, Sardonyx, Smokey Quartz... Even Sapphire and Steven. Beta (forgot until now): I noticed Peridot stopped addressing Lapis as Lazuli. Earthlings (forgot in previous post): I noticed that Smokey's theme uses the instruments of both Amethyst (drums) and Steven (chiptune/gameboy). ...Actually, giving it a listen, this seems true for most Fusions.
I guess this ep. confirms that Gems of the same type result in the same type of Fusion. (I do wonder if Ruby + Sapphire + Pearl would still equal Sardonyx.)
I noticed that when Smokey split, Amethyst basically fell out of Steven (she glowed, Steven didn't). Interesting tidbit... I kind of wonder if Steven ends up physically being a container, of sorts. Bismuth: Okay, yeah, that one had some major feels. I did see Bismuth being too gung-ho, anti-Homeworld (as opposed to Rose being pro-Earth) coming up, what with how much they hinted at it in the first half (and Same old World). Definitely knew what was coming as soon as Bis described Rose's sword. It's a shame, really, considering how chummy she was with the Gems. I really like that about her. It does also make sense to me that Bis would be extra sensitive about Steven refusing the Breaking Point. I mean, apparently to her, it effectively happened yesterday. (I guess poofed Gems are sort of in stasis when they're bubbled?) I do wonder what exactly Bis was referencing when she mentioned 'shining,' twice. A few things come to mind, though nothing too solid yet. Back to the Moon: My favorite part is actually when Garnet 'scruffed' Army and held her under her arm. XD I was thinking (not very seriously) that it would be funny if Garnet sort of Ruby-sat/'mommed' the Rubies and had her hands full with them, and that scene actually came pretty close to my mental image. So that made me happy. Whadya know? Eyeball can talk without problems. =O Amethyst being Jasper was pretty funny. XD I guess it's a good thing that Jasper dropped enough about Pink Diamond that Ams was able to run off of it. (And that the Rubies are generally fairly dumb.) Anyone else wonder what exactly 'Era-1' and 'Era-2' refer to? One guess of mine is 'before/after Pink Diamond fell.' Though since it seems Era-1 Peridots are a thing and neither Pearl nor Garnet recognized a Peridot, I'm thinking it's more likely to be something like before/after resources became scarce. Or maybe before/after their relative technological boom. More in the discussion spoiler. Bubbled: Physics? What's that! Seriously, though. I guess the bubble having air, some of the gravity, and maybe talking to each-other through a vacuum might be handwaved as 'magic.' (Peridot already mentioned the spacefaring race thing.) Even then, this episode was really pushing it, IMO. (I don't think ring-shaped asteroids are a thing, especially that perfectly round.) This ep. sure makes it clear that different Gems of the same type can have different weapons. I guess it's understandable that Eyeball would still want to go after Steven, even after he healed her. Still a shame, though. This does suggest that even Homeworld Gems don't always like the heiarchy, especially the lower-ranking ones. Though apparently individuals can be promoted above their usual Gem-type under certain circumstances. Also: While it is looking likely, I really hope the Rubies aren't going to be trapped in space forever. D= I know they're antagonists, but I like them, and I don't think they deserve that.(...And Portal 2 just came to mind. XD No points for guessing which part.) I'm wondering what exactly was said when the dialogue was muted in favor of the end theme. (Someone's probably figured it out, but I like figuring this stuff out, myself. ) So far, I've mostly caught a lot of cries of 'Steven!', Amethyst saying '___ you ___ ___!' to Pearl, and I think Pearl replying 'I guess...' The Crystal Gems have a spaceship now. Kindergarten Kid: I seriously kept expecting Peri to poof. XD I do wonder what exactly this says about Garnet poofing her relatively easily. (I know Garnet's tough, but still. Assuming it's intentional and not an oversight.) I'll admit, I've been wanting to see Peri take on a new outfit since she asked about wearing a star. Peri's more than a little clumsy, isn't she? XD I wonder if she's actually smarter than an average Peridot, or if that's just her ego talking. Her frogging it up is adorable. I have been waiting for a Peridot bubble. 833 So that made me happy. Kind of a nice shade of green, too. I also love how it ended up in the barn, both for the funny factor, and that Peri considers it 'home.' Also Lapis, who appears to like the same reading material as Amethyst. Know Your Fusion: This one quickly shot up to being one of my all-time favorite episodes. Pretty easy candidate, what with it including my two favorite Fusions (three, if you include Garnet), and with the details on fusion being intriguing to me. Pearl's and Garnet's reactions at the beginning were great. Especially Garnet's. I'm guessing the bubble room doesn't disappear when Garnet does, since it seems to be part of the main area in the temple. (Also, I can't imagine what would happen with those bubbles.) I do wonder what a room would look like that belonged to Ruby or Sapphire, or the other Fusions. Or if R&S could open the bubble room unfused. I don't think Sugilite would have one because she couldn't fit. Heck, even Sardonyx struggled to get in the door. Does Garnet have some rule about what she can or can't say, due to her future vision? All the callbacks and meta humor were great. It was nice to have a couple really light eps in a row after the recent heaviness. More BttM Hmm, it's possible that it could be propaganda. It's definitely not outside the Realm of the Homeworld gems. But at the same time, why would they go as far as to destroy their own Diamond just to frame Rose? Pearl fought for her freedom a little too hardcore.
BttM discuss: Another possibility is a Crystal Gem did it in the name of Rose (and possibly the form of Rose), or under Rose's orders - which in it's own way would be considered to be done by Rose. Also, Eyeball only has one eye. I'm not sure how well she would have been able to see what happened, especially since we have no idea what her vantage point was. I do think Pearl and Garnet knew. Garnet, at least, doesn't seem surprised; she just looks more concerned for Steven, with him learning about it that way. So I'm guessing there's at least some truth to what happened, even if exaggerated. But yeah, I think there's a good chance this is part of why Rose didn't think so highly of herself. I do suspect that Rose basically adopted Pearl (I actually have a fanfic in the works XD). I don't think Pearl would have been Pink Diamond's, though, judging by the sequence from Rose's Scabbard, where Rose and Pearl are basically talking about starting the rebellion - i.e. before Pink would have been shattered. So unless Rose was really one of Pink's top soldiers and just got to spend a lot of time with Pearl via association... I dunno, a Pearl going outright against her master seems odd to me (they strike me as loyal, probably by design). So unless Pink was just that cruel to Pearl, I personally doubt it. (Who knows, though? We've seen Garnet's backstory; hopefully we'll see Pearl's and Amethyst's sometime, too. ) I kind of wonder what Pink Diamond was like. If the murals are anything to go by (and I highly suspect they are - the ones for Blue and Yellow seem fitting for their personalities, at least), she seems like may have been a fairly enthusiastic, optimistic type. It also looks like Earth may have been her only colony - whether it was her first, or if she liked to focus on one at a time before handing it over, I wouldn't know. I suspect the former, though, judging by what Eyeball said. I kind of feel bad for Pinky, actually. I do suspect Pink was in change of military before being taken down, at which point control of the armies was handed to Yellow. Probably because Yellow's best fit for stratigizing, if I had to guess. What happened to Pink would also make Yellow Diamond's "pettiness" make a lot more sense sense. I wouldn't be surprised if the Diamonds were actually pretty close. If nothing else, there's the insult of a Diamond being taken down in general. Tidbit: IRL, diamonds can actually be shattered fairly easily if impacted the right/wrong way. From what I understand, things being harder can actually make them more prone to breaking - partly because they're less flexible and can't move with the impact.

Something's been bugging me about the events of Bismuth/Back to the Moon/Bubbled. Eyeball says she saw Rose shatter Pink Diamond, an assertion that the Crystal Gems confirm. The thing is, when Steven is trying to prove to Eyeball that he has Rose's gem in Bubbled, he pulls out his shield, and Eyeball scoffs, saying it's Rose's sword she remembers specifically. The problem with that being that in Bismuth, Bismuth outright says that she designed Rose's sword to never harm a Gem's gem.
It's possible Rose poofed PD before shattering her in some other way (as Eyeball didn't mention any other weapons, it would probably have to have been by hand somehow) but if that's not the case, there's more to this story we're not seeing, because Bismuth states pretty explicitly that Rose had her design the sword specifically to leave the gem intact.
Not trying to get all conspiracy here or anything but it's been bugging me for a while. XD

♥ AzzieThat's one of the first things I noticed, actually. XD and one of the main reasons why I was initially so skeptical that Rose shattered PD.
The fact that Rose's personal sword was specifically designed to not inflict fatal damage, and Eyeball claimed that she didn't even remember Rose using her shield (her actual Gem weapon)? It all just immediately screamed "IMPOSTER" to me, but it's still possible that Rose just simply poofed PD with her sword and then used something else to smash her gem.
In terms of gem toughness/hardness, no way would a quartz be able to even scratch a diamond, buuut diamonds can be cracked or even shattered if struck with a hammer.

I enjoyed the last episode, Mindful Education. One of the main reasons, besides the show itself, was the fact they got help from one of the animators from Studio Trigger, one of my favorite anime teams XD Mindful Education From what I can tell they got help with the musical and flashback/nightmare moments. It's done in a sort of similar style to Little Witch Academia and some of the Studio Trigger/Geneon shorts they've done in the past.
