Found this lil 13-inch CRT thrown out on the side of the road: Tested and works, cool find Which! A lot of people don't realize this, so, PSA: if you have one of these that works, you shouldn't throw it out. They can be collectors' items these days, because older games that were designed for this type of display tend to look totally different on them than they do on a modern TV, and no one has made them for years. This one's only worth like sixty bucks, but some CRT TVs and especially some CRT monitors can net you hundreds. I've got a collector friend who has a piece or two that are now priced in the thousands.

I stopped by the local historical society today, and they had half-price memberships and books for sale, old books that they had spares of. So I got a membership for $15, and an old children's reader from the 1920s for $5.
Looks like it's time to do some research on setting a story during the Great Depression! (Surely they'd still be using books from the 20s then.)

Boarding our flight back to the uk with Thundy. We go up to the gate, show our boarding passes, standard. Gate agent: Btw, there has been a change with your seats. Ohno.jpg Gate agent: We have upgraded you two to business class, you are in the front row, enjoy your flight. Ohyes.jpg We spent the whole 3 hour flight in comfy, massive chairs, watching movies on the big screen, enjoying a full meal service and complimentary drinks. This is also the first time in my life I have ever been upgraded, so good times all around. Plus the staff were really friendly. I asked them about the gorgeous glassware they had, for example, and they gave me a whole history and culture lesson. Finnair. Highly recommend, one of my favourite airlines now.

*finds last post here* Okay. So it looks like I need to sumaraize the last nine months of my life or so.... Ha! Okay. Here we go.
1. My mom, after her fall and pelvic fracture lats October is doing FANTASTIC! She was back to normal within 6 months. Still taking 4 kids to the park and doing scavenger hunts for them in the park, and still walks 3 to 5 miles a day. At 82. I mean... I don't do HALF as much walking as her.
2. Have been enjuoying "bikes and boats" again this summer, and they found me a "new" (to them) recumbent trike that is SO much lighter and easier to manuever than the one I used last year, which was more of a child's "toy." Apparently when it was donated, one of the organizers thought, "This would be perfect for Allison!" So I feel so loved by that group.
3. Recently got back from a trip to DC, where I got to see my brother, sister-in-law, and 8.5 year old niece. We hasdn't seen them in person for nearly 2 years. While on the trip, both my niece and I happened to be reading the first Harry Potter book. Her for the first time, me for the.... 4th? At least? So that was a fun connection.
4. Today in the mail, I got a mini Harry Potter squishmallow and HP Pez dispenser from my niece, along with a not that says "A little friend and snack for you to enjoy while you read Harry Potter." Oh my gosh, you all. So cute. *squee* and *heart squishes like the squishmallow*

I recently bought two new, really nice shirts from Uniqlo. Both of the managed to get stains on them within the first few outings. One was tomato and coffee, another was red wine; both really stubborn, bad stains. Nothing worked to get them out.
Finally bought some fairly expensive brand name stain remover and, after a few rounds of that, both are strain-free. \o/ I got my lovely new shirts back. Gotta be more careful next time.

Phew, I thought for sure that talking about that would get me in trouble. Not only did it not, it was very productive. At least in that context/setting. That's really a relief.
