A general chat thread to get support from your fellow writers with the act of actually putting down one word after the other. Share your struggles, your triumphs, your wordcounts, your strategies, whatever.
Basically this thread is created in the hopes that it will make us all get to the act of writing that we so often neglect.

My goal is to write 750 words a day, even if it is filling out character sheets, or writing fan fiction, I just need to improve my writing! I'll post here everyday when I read my quota! I AM GOING TO DO THIS!!

Following in the footsteps of the Art Board, Zylaa?
EDIT: Actually, scratch that. It's similar to what's going on with the Art Board, but not exactly the same.

XD This idea sprang up from a conversation in the writers' skype chat. As for me, I'm starting back on the strategy I used at the beginning of the year-- at least 277 words a day, no excuses. I kept that up through March, but then let it completely fall away... in theory, though, that will give me a full novel (by NaNo counts) in six months.

Yeah, there really isn't anything like this on the art boards. Though maybe it might be worth it to start one....
Ah well, it's related to writing: :3 Working on a page of my comic a day (an actual full-size comic book, not a strip), so I can hopefully have the roughs finished by the end of the month. It's going to be 30 pages, so 30 days to sketch, 30 to ink, 30 to color....

I have a Final Fantasy fanfic I keep meaning to get back to/finish...but I've got sooooo much other stuff in the way, augh. I don't really leave enough time in my schedule.
However, I'm moving and getting the Internet cut off next week, so I'm hoping that Internet downtime will force me to spend a little less time drawing and a little more time writing (because I don't want to lug my tablet to the library).

I wrote 900 words today. Granted, they will be ripped down to only dialogue and turned into comics someday, but still.

Well, I finally managed to break through a major blocking point in getting my novel Skydwellers (self-)published: coming up with a good blurb. I'd never had to write a novel blurb before so I was super unsure of my ability to do so, especially since I am not very good at advertising at all, but I dashed off a simple three-sentence thing and then showed it to some people on an online writing forum (not this one) to ask what could be improved. I got mixed results, ranging from (erroneous) grammatical corrections to claims that the phrasing was too cliche. The more I tried to fix it, the worse it got until I began to wonder if my novel itself was any good, seeing as how badly I was botching the blurb.
Thankfully, my co-author came to my rescue when I finally let him read the blurb and he said it was fine, and that he as an intelligent reader preferred straightforward summaries to flowery stuff that says more about the persuasive writing skills of the author than it does the plot. So I feel confident that my blurb does the job well.
Now to tackle the next hurdle: painting a cover.

One of my friends asked me to read three blurbs he wrote for his novel, and it was the simplest of the three that hooked me the most. Good luck with that cover. I hope it doesn't give you too much trouble! I've actually done a lot of writing today. I scripted out about ten more comics, (and finished one of them!) and I'm working on a story for the NT about the characters at the Weekly World that isn't a comedy. So, I'm up to about a 1,000 words. I might get to 2,000 before I call it a night.

I'm going to have to look up a hefty bit of cloud reference, so I don't think I'll be able to get started on it until next week, but it should be fun. I hope. That's awesome! 2,000 words a day is a lot! Good job! Wow, you get comics done a lot faster than I do (although I also tend to expend unnecessary effort on them, so).

Well, I did do the lineart yesterday. Today was just all the coloring, shading, and backgrounds. I tend to do things in batches, a bunch of lineart spread across multiple comics, then coloring, then shading, sometimes backgrounds before the lineart if it is more than vague scenery (the wall in the room they are in or such.) 2,000 words is a sad thing for me. My comics have eaten my word counts. When I was writing every day this time last year (okay, not this time exactly. Last year I was ACing and wouldn't pick up writing again for another week or two. XD ) I was doing a solid 4k every day at the least.

That's some real devotion to your craft. When I was doing NaNoWriMo in 2011 I could barely eke out 1300 words a day. xD Then again, I was also in the middle of a school semester, so I guess that ate up a good deal of my time and energy. I'm hoping to get some writing done this week while I don't have Internet. ^^ Hopefully I won't have to research much, otherwise that could be a problem. xD I think maybe I'll tackle the task of reading through Skydwellers one last time for a final revision. I may also finally get around to writing up a plot skeleton and character guide for Apocalyptica, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel series that a friend and I have been working on for the past few years, and has gotten so large that I'm finally conceding to writing reference documents for myself because I'm starting to forget details. <.<

Mann, I've been working on a comic that's eating up my whole freetime. Honestly, I've never done a full comic book-comic book, and it's really about time (it's been 5 years since I graduated with a sequential arts minor; it's beyond time). So I've been sketching a page a day for every day this month, but I'm still a page behind. It's eating into the time I want to put towards another Spooky comic, and I have an AC-themed idea I need to get done soon. ._.
I'm sort of kicking myself right now for setting it in a haunted house, with different rooms every couple pages. @__@ Also I've never been much for drawing combat sequences, so I don't know why I put so much fighting in it. XD;;;;
