Mann, I've been working on a comic that's eating up my whole freetime. Honestly, I've never done a full comic book-comic book, and it's really about time (it's been 5 years since I graduated with a sequential arts minor; it's beyond time). So I've been sketching a page a day for every day this month, but I'm still a page behind. It's eating into the time I want to put towards another Spooky comic, and I have an AC-themed idea I need to get done soon. ._. I'm sort of kicking myself right now for setting it in a haunted house, with different rooms every couple pages. @__@ Also I've never been much for drawing combat sequences, so I don't know why I put so much fighting in it. XD;;;; Ooh, good luck with that! It does sound difficult, but I'll bet you'll be proud of it once you're done!

Is this with your vampire characters, Komori?

Is this with your vampire characters, Komori? It is indeed! It's going to be a page-a-day comic for the whole month of October, so I had to use my vampires! Plus I've always dabbled in their storyline with comic strips and one-off pages; I figured it was high time I actually fleshed any of it out. (Partially inspired by a friend who's posted 'concept art' for one of their storylines for years without doing a daggone thing about it. I was all unhappy with them doing that, then realized I did that very thing. XD)

Haha, I was stuck in the "concept art but no story" hole for years. It's a tough one to get out out of, for sure.
Well, I went through the first two chapters of Skydwellers and tightened things up, as well as got through the first bit of Apocalyptica to make a character dossier and timeline of events. So I'd say that's some nice progress.

Oh hey how did I miss this thread Right now I'm working on a science-fantasy novel that's been in development for a year and a half. I'm currently at that stage right before the second draft, making all the decisions on what to change from the first draft. I've spent a long time hopelessly confused about it, but now I'm actually pretty close to the end of this phase--I just need to force myself to sit down and DO IT. I also really need to write more for the NT. It's good exercise, and I also have an obsessive love of shiny virtual trophies, so there's that. So what's Skydwellers about, Squid? ^_^ (If you don't mind my asking, that is! I know that question can be awkward to answer sometimes. )

So what's Skydwellers about, Squid? ^_^ (If you don't mind my asking, that is! I know that question can be awkward to answer sometimes. ) Ooh, science fantasy sounds tasty. x3 What's yours about? Argh I know how you feel, sitting down and doing actual work on something is the hardest part of writing, hands-down. xD Good luck! I'm doing my final revision of Skydwellers, going through and trying to have an eagle eye for typos, inconsistencies, and anywhere the prose just seems off, and I'm about halfway through that... but my problem, like yours, is getting myself to sit down and do it. Or at least squeeze it in to the various other projects I work on throughout the day. Haha, no worries, I will freely admit that I like talking about my work. xD Skydwellers deals with two civilizations of humans: the technologically advanced Aehirim who live in floating cities, and the First Industrial Revolution-level Passerim who live on the ground. The two races were completely out of contact and the existence of the Aehirim was only postulated in old Passerim fairy tales. All of that changes, however, when a young Aehirim named Rohui literally falls into the life of Wilder, a restless Passerim farmboy. Rohui has two major revelations for Wilder: first, that the Passerim are actually Aehirim who emigrated to the ground after a political dispute four thousand years ago, and second, that a mind-controlling conspiracy is spreading amongst Rohui's government, and in order to stop them he's taken the plunge to the surface to seek out an ancient legend called the Slumbering Demon. From there, the two boys go on a wild romp through a world populated by mischievous kid sisters, proud warrior gremlins, and more mystery, intrigue, and betrayal than either of them guessed, and end up learning some ancient truths that serve to unite both their worlds.

I want to write. Really badly right now. Problem is, most of my free time has been annihilated by the Altador Cup, since I'm aiming for All-Star again. (I'm one rank away, but I'm still going to continue playing even after I get it) I wrote a little bit on the last Bye Day, but that only fueled my urge even more. When I have this sort of drive, I'm capable of writing several pages in a day. I'm just afraid that when the AC finally does end, that urge will be gone and I'll be stuck in the rut of maybe a sentence or two every few days or so. If you're curious, the story I'm working on right now is the sequel to the Neopian Times series that's running right now, and that is an entry into a much bigger saga. So I want to get this one done before the current one ends (In nine weeks) so that people won't have to wait so long for the continuation. What's planned after that is another side-story that will either be a short story or a two-part series depending on how long it turns out. And after that is Infinity III, which is the next main installment, the previous two of which both ended up being twelve parts and 80+ pages... And I want to get this all done by the end of the year. Me. Ms. Procrastination. Get all these projects finished before 2014.

Squid: Sounds fun! The whole separated-civilizations thing is always cool to explore, and gremlins are awesome and need more love. I'd give it a read. :3 Good luck to you! Let's see, Integrity is a super-hero story, so science fantasy is the best thing I know to call it. It's about a defunct superhuman vigilante group that has just re-organized itself after fifteen years and is trying to stay below the radar, and an ex-con with a violent rap sheet who joins them under a fake identity in the hopes of becoming a better person. There's also a conspiracy, a space alien, a bitter ex-member with too many secrets, a hero with a psychotic disorder who used to be a terrorist, explosions, a shapeshifting robot toddler who carjacks people, and a mystery surrounding what caused the team to self-destruct in the first place. It's largely a story about personal accountability, and recovering from a checkered past. I started it for Nano 2011 and it's already spawned two prequels and possssibly sequels, so it's sort of taken over my brain. xD; Blueysicle: Maybe you could set a timer and alternate YYB and writing/planning work, every 20 minutes or so? That might be the best way to make sure you can get both in. Or, you might need to simply get to all-star and be satisfied with that, and focus on writing only afterward. That's actually what I've done this year--I'd like to continue helping DC, but this is just more important to me. =/ (On the other hand, the AC is only once a year, too, so I can understand making it a priority, but.)

If I'm being completely frank here, I say you should write instead. The AC is just an internet game, a game that comes back every year. If it comes down to producing creative works or playing a game, if you're inspired to write, then write. You're improving a useful skill, and catching those bouts of inspiration are really tricky. Years from now, you'll probably be prouder of a story you've written than a 50x50 icon on a virtual pet website (one that you also have to click on to even see what anyone's ranks were). Trussssst me, you're going to regret not spending more time on producing work when you had the chance.

It was awesome to get in the NT just once, but I don't want to stop just there! I really want to write another NT story but I just have the feeling that it's not going to be as good as my first story. I guess it's just my fear of failure kicking in.
...I really need to get rid of this stupid fear.

Can I jump on the "really need to write" boat, because I'm really bad at putting stuff off until the last minute I reeeaaally need to work on my Backstory Month comic ugh (Backstory Month being a thing I do on my website every July) ...Speaking of my website, can I jump on the "posting concept art but not doing anything about it" boat too because I've been working furiously to correct that XD;;
