Sooo, there are a few different things that Hunty and I have discussed extensively, and we thought it would be useful to bring these things up.
First of all, concerning RP battles. A lot of the time, they don't really go anywhere, because people are a) afraid of hitting their opponents, and 2) afraid of getting hit.
Back when Hunty and I had our short-lived duel thread (which died at five posts, should do something about that one of these years), we agreed beforehand that every attack would hit. This meant that we could avoid all the awkward language that results from not wanting to force the other player to accept an attack, stuff like:
"Stabby McStabstab stabs his dagger at Sparkles the Magic Mage and hopes that it hits."
Furthermore, it kept the battle from turning into one dodge after another, with nothing actually hitting.
"Sparkles the Magic Mage flails sideways, missing the dagger but tearing his robe in the process. He fires his magical splinters at Stabby." "Stabby backflips over the splinters and tries to stab Sparkles again."
And so on and so forth. Of course, an agreement like that needs to be worked out ahead of time, and may be a bit of an extreme case. Nevertheless, I think that trying to implement something similar will do a lot to make the battles in this war more interesting and more fun. So, just as a rough draft of such an agreement, I'd suggest something like this:
The "most" in the first point is pretty vague, but just as a rule of thumb, I would say something like no more than one attack out of four should be dodged. (Mind you, dodging actually takes a lot of energy.)
Of course, this is all extremely up for debate. If you think this is a completely horrible suggestion, please say so and explain why.
Secondly (yes, there was a second point), there's the matter of initiative. I brought this up on the Skype chat a few weeks ago, but it's worth bringing up here.
The guilds have long had...issues with initiative. People are wary about taking charge, for much the same reason that they're wary of hitting each other in RP battles: nobody wants to step on anyone else's toes. And it may sound harsh, but this is pretty much how our RPs die--things get progressively slower because everybody is waiting on someone else, and eventually all the players drop out because nothing is happening.
So I'll say this here and now, as clearly as I possibly can:
If you have an agenda that you want to pursue in GW4, go for it. Even if it isn't related to what Hunty and I are doing, as long as you take the initiative to make it happen, we will support it wholeheartedly.
As I said, this is all up for discussion, and I would really like to hear other people's positions on it all. Please understand that I'm not trying to be critical, and I am by no means pointing fingers. I just want to see the Guilds achieve the awesomeness that I know they're capable of.

- Most attacks should hit.
- The attacker can, if desired, choose where the attack is aimed (head, arms, neck, etc).
- The person being attacked must be allowed a chance to counterattack.
