Happy anniversary! You guys have broken the record for getting together faster than any other LD couple. ;D <3
All first kisses are awful. xD And then you have the even more awkward moment of 'just after the kiss' where you're not sure what comes next and it's HORRIBLE! xDDDD
So happy for you guys. :3

Hunty headed through the security barrier and that was that. ...Which sort of meant that the awkwardness lasted the next two days until she got back home and we could talk on MSN again.

We're aiming to invade Denmark sometime in early January.

Then I had to stumble around the airport for about 20 minutes before I figured out what I was doing. My mind wasn't exactly where it was supposed to be at that point. I have zero recollections about the Taipei airport security. Really, when he was flying out of Taiwan himself in February, he asked me how the airport security was and how long it took and etc, and I was all "Taipei airport? Have I been there? What did it look like- oh. That day. I have absolutely no idea." ...although they do have a Hello Kitty waiting lounge that I took a picture of. Thanks, you guise xD

o hai still remember us? *hasn't been posting on the forum for ages* *probably wouldn't remember to, if Facebook wasn't more on the ball about remembering anniversaries than we are* I like that thing with adorable bunnies that Facebook now does as a celebration-reminder. And then it sticks a helpful notice in the upper right birthday box all "today is your anniversary with This Guy(link), be sure you know which guy it is or it'd get awkward". But yeah, we're altogether slogging along like boring adult people, recently moved into a new flat and Fraze will be starting a new job in a coupla weeks. Most of the time I don't even remember that this is the place that brought us together, we're just two folks who hooked up three years ago. Then I remember, and then I think that this place is still all sorts of awesome <3

For the winter break, Hunty and I went back to her parents' house. We had Christmas there, spread over several days, and then there was a long gap of not much activity but a lot of food as New Year's approached.
Yesterday evening (the 31st), we walked to the apartment of Hunty's maternal grandma. Her mom was already there. We brought a big batch of food (well, I brought a big batch of food *is pretty much a pack mule*) and had a New Year's Eve dinner, followed by drinks and snacks and assorted desserts that left us much more full than they really should have. I made the cinnamon rolls that my family usually does on Christmas. Or tried to, anyway, they didn't quite turn out right, but they were still good. I could only fit in two. (Seriously, just three years ago I still had a teenager's metabolism - despite not being a teenager - and could have scarfed down that entire table over the course of the night. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME.)
We spent the next several hours eating and drinking and watching New Year's programming on the TV. I had no idea this was a thing. My family never really did much for New Year's, unless I badgered them into it. And now I learn that apparently there's a set of various programs that get shown pretty much every New Year's and they're mostly awesome. Is this a thing elsewhere and I just never got to experience it?
At one point, we melted lead and threw it into a bucket of cold water. Looking at the shadows the shapes cast on the wall by candlelight is supposed to be a fortune telling method for the upcoming year. I mostly thought it was fun to melt lead on the stove. (For those concerned, we had a specific ladle-like spoon that's only ever used for this purpose, so nobody is getting lead poisoning from the cookware.)
Sometime later, Hunty and I went to Grandma's bedroom and went through a lesson in the Estonian textbook that Hunty checked out from the library a few weeks ago. I really need to start picking up more of the language, and since taking classes is a bit difficult, this is the best way. Then we went back and watched a bit more TV.
The town has an awesome medieval castle on top of a hill, and there's a fireworks show there every year. Hunty wanted to stay at the apartment since we would have had a good view from there, but I specifically wanted to go see it close-up. We eventually agreed on heading to the castle. At around 11:30, we headed out.
There had been heavy snow for all of the 30th, but on the 31st it was above freezing (HOOOOWWWWW?), and so all the snow turned to slush. It was somewhat disappointing, but also easier to walk in than hard-frozen snow and ice. Weaving past drunk revelers, we got to the castle with about 15 minutes to spare. It was fairly crowded, but we had a clear view of the castle.
We both fiddled with the camera settings on our phones and tried taking a few test shots with the fireworks setting.
I started shaking a bit. I knew there wasn't a reason to be nervous, but I was anyway. I wanted to do it before the fireworks started.
I waited for Hunty to put her phone away. It was about six minutes before midnight. I took a breath.
"How did that thing go," I asked, "where you should do on New Year's what you want to do for the rest of the year?"
"What happens to you on New Year's influences what you do the rest of the year," she corrected.
"Right, that. With that in mind." I turned her around to face me directly. I think she realized what I was going to say. "Will you marry me?"
She kissed me softly. "You know I will," she said.
"I know you will," I said.
"So that's why you wanted to come out here?" she asked after a while.
"I only plan on saying that once, so I wanted to get it right," I answered.
"You should have waited, the fireworks won't be for several minutes."
"I wanted to be able to enjoy them without my legs shaking."
The fireworks started shortly after that.
So that was our New Year's.
