Thanks hippiesoul and starhamster42-- but there is nothing to forgive. I am the one who gave offense. I like to make people laugh. If you knew me, you'd know that I don't carry grudges and I see everyone I meet as a potential friend. So I am glad to see that you have forgiven me, even if you still hold the same opinions of the "article that never was".

Glad I missed this conversation. Even if I didn't I would have said nothing.

I think the problem with that Americans aren't the only people on Earth. The rest of the English-speaking world does use 'u'. That is just one of the reasons I dislike being American. No, I'm not patriotic, and Sept. 11 doesn't change my mind.
Call me heartless.
By the way... I have just read the first page, so bleh.

Well, HTML is all American spelling, I don't have to tell you how often I forget and end up with broken tags, so that's at least got to be worth something.
Either spelling is acceptable in my opinion, although my spellcheck is annoying, I keep setting it to Canadian English and it keeps reverting to American English for some odd reason.
Besides, if you moved to the UK would you start spelling with a 'u'? I think not.
I actually thought the article was very funny, but then I like sarcasm, so don't mind me.

Sarcasm is only good in certain amounts... Like spam.

*runs over to hug stoneman* THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been flustered over those "u"'s for awhile. I don't mind when they're used on the site, but fanfiction or not I hate it when Josh changes my work to the British spellings. I admit to being few things (religion, race), but I'll admit that I'm an All-American girl. Sure, our language is flawed. I hate it too. Sure, we think we're all that sometimes (We are, hehe! Just kidding.) But we're not lazy slobs who think everyone else is inferior. We're people just like everyone else, with hurt feelings when our Flouds can't properly insult Spyders (a reference to my series where Phoenix is supposed to call Dylan "Encyclopedia," but Josh changed it to "Encyclopaedia"). Yeah, there has been a lot of persecution to the American Indian, African, Japanese and Irish peoples in America in our history, to name a few. But we apologize and move on, and every country has its bad times (Don't make me point them out!). I can't say certain things without a mob of people flaming me. I think we all need a little lesson on etiquette, no?*pulls out dusty French dictionary* Eheu, how the heck did my ancestors speak French? At my school, kids who take different languages are rarely friends with each other, and I have a best friend who takes French, while I take Latin, and we argue over which is better, yeah, but we're still friends. Anyways, that's a great article, and any loser who wants to flame it can just shut up before they make a mess. Political views are so controversial that we should just throw them out and learn to cooperate. It's sad when history repeats itself. But it does.

You know, I propose we all start speaking Latin, and then everyone will be so confused they won't be able to correct anything! *insert corny evil laughter here*
Actually, I thought the article was fine (minus the making fun of America and Great Britain, of course) - I do despise the constant British spellings, and just today I was trying to do the Lenny Condunrum and everytime they had the word 'meter' they spelled it 'metre' and I was like, "Geez, this looks so weird!"
And I didn't know the submitted stories were changed to British spellings. For a long time, the pets called their (female) owners 'Mum,' and I always thought, "Am I the only one with American pets?"

For a long time, the pets called their (female) owners 'Mum,' Indeed. It's a good thing we don't get any male owners called mum, that would just be...hey, that could be an interesting idea... Well, as an Aussie, i use the 'u's and am very proud of it, so...er...come to think of it, i don't really have an issue with any of this stuff, so i'll just crawl away and leave now...

I agree with streaming_blue, you can't just promatoe the americans because neopets is worldwide and that could tinkle off other countries because us canadians spell color "coloUr" too . Neopets doesn't want other people tinkled off.
