Proboards ad on the forum:
"RED SHIRTS WANTED CREATE A FORUM TODAY"
Uhh... Proboards? Have you seen Star Trek TOS? ... Do you at least know the trope?

Pretty sure this is a universal experience with cat owners, but it's certainly... something when your cat doesn't give a darn about the cat toys you buy him, but has the time of his life when you throw a paper bag on the floor.

So this is a combo of a rant and a rant and a gloat, so I'm going to put it here. Because of COVID-19, In the span of about 4 hours (on a day when I was out of the office on leave) I have gone from "work as usual" to "no face-to-face contacts" to "work from home most days." So... basically in one day, I need to learn how to take my job from all in person meetings in an office to all over the phone and mostly at home. It's.... more than a bit overwhelming! So the good/gloat is that they are taking steps to protect everyone. The "bad"/scary is I have NO IDEA how to do this "all over the pone" thing, let alone the "work from home" bit! Crazy, crazy times.

I have such mixed feelings about all that is going on.
On one hand, I am living the introvert dream and it is showing. I feel pretty good, and both me and my mum are overall happier from the reduced contact. I have video games, a new dressing gown, tons of food (and if we want delivery, they leave it at our door), I can do all my classes and coursework online...I'm good.
But the moment that I remember that things exist outside this happy little bubble and that there will be consequences, I feel miserable about it.

With all that has been going on, it still hasn't sunk in yet that we're in uncharted waters with this. I'm not in denial, but it just seems surreal. Earlier today, I went to a local mall for some grocery shopping at Wal-Mart and it felt strange seeing the normally bustling mall nearly dead, with probably 95% of the stores shut down for the time being.

Can't sleep, so lying watching the stars until my alarm goes off. There could be worse days to begin the final morning before lockdown! This is nice.

I have a cough and so I'm majorly panicking despite not also having a fever. Then I don't think there's a need to worry. Like my aunt had a flu but no other system and she's feeling fine now. During these times it's important to keep calm and know all the facts about what's going on. Granted that can sometimes feel hard to do but trying to stick with official sources like News networks is your best bet for both facts and staying up to date with current events.

Last night I went to bed super early because I felt tired (which was kinda fueled by hunger; I'm trying to be careful with food because I don't know when I can next get groceries or what will be available, and also because I'd been doing my bedtime-things earlier).
But I knew I was sleeping in anyway. I had a hard time getting to sleep anyway, and I knew I was mentally tired, which contributes a lot to how long I sleep. So when I was waking up, I went "oh gosh, I've been in bed so long, I bet I've slept till noon."
Cue a long time of me thinking that without actually opening my eyes and making an effort to wake up. Cue when I finally did, I looked at the clock...
9:45am.
... Well, can't complain. It actually kinda feels nice to have a somewhat earlier schedule.
(Yes, my sleeping schedule was trash; shush.)

Youtube, stop trying to force this 7 minute Navy ad on me!!
I swear, it seems like more and more of the Youtube ads I'm getting are super long, at least compared to what I'm used to. A lot of them are 2-5 minutes long, and for whatever reason Youtube really wants to shove this one 7 minute ad down my throat.
The longest one I've gotten though was literally 24 minutes long. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'm not going to watch an ad that's the equivalent of a television episode before a Youtube video maybe half that time.

Dear occasional car(s) driving by outside,
You should not assume that people by default want to listen to your music. Especially when it's low bass. Especially when you're driving through a residential area.
Why do people do this? xD
