*crosses fingers* I've been thinking about this for a while, actually. I've only been published once, but I'd totally kick myself if I missed issue 500. I mean, it's issue 500! Problem is, I don't have very many ideas ATM. That is to say, I have exactly one. And it's for a several-part series that could hit a mid-range Novella length... which means I I totally should have started working on it about two months ago. Ah well. *goes to grab some coffee*

I haven't written for the Times in aaaaages, but seeing this thread has really made me want to! XD I might give it a go and see if I can come up with a decent story! ^__^
EDIT: in fact, June 24th should be right in the middle of the Altador Cup, so i'd better get writing before that starts up!

Hm. I have a piece I started writing for issue 450, but couldn't get in the right mood to finish in time. It would actually be really, really good for 500. I'll have to get back to work on it.

Then again, we got about 2 months. Won't we need to get our submissions in at least a few weeks early in order to give us a good chance of getting in? I thought I heard that these milestone issues are very popular and are very hard to get published in, especially if you submit something in late. I have managed to come up with ONE idea for this issue, though I am trying to brainstorm up some more, in case I come up with something better. I basically thought I'd ask to see if there was some kind of special collaboration going on or if we were going to have a theme for our works for this issue. Since it looks like we got nothing planned collaboratively, I might as well work on what I got so far.

Guys, quick question. Looking at issue 400, I see a lot of the works that got in were specifically issue-400-themed, or otherwise neopian-times related in their subject matter. Do I need to have something similarly themed to have a decent chance, or will I do just as well with an unrelated submission?

I don't think a submission necessarily has to be Neopian Times themed to get into the 500th issue, as the Team Squad Force collaborations by Komori, Fish, and Abra in issues 400 and 450 were not about the Times at all. Though I do believe that submissions specially made for commemorating this event are more liable to get accepted into this one issue than ones that do not.

I have a great idea, and I'm hard at work on it. However, I'm not even half done, and I'm thinking I may have a word count problem. Hopefully I can make 1000 words on this article

If the entry you're submitting isn't special or in any way related to issue 500, then I think you'll have less of a chance than something that is 500-centric. That is, if your work could go into any issue, I'd imagine Droplet's going to give preference to the entries that have to be in issue 500.

I might actually give it a shot... it's been ages since I was published in the NT. If anything, I'll do it just for the shizzles and giggles =3

@ Komori, Kozma: Thank you guys. :3 I was working on an unrelated four-parter but considering how long it's going to take, I think I'll hold off on it for a little while and see about putting together something themed.

I just submitted a 7 part series, so if it makes it into the NT sometime in the next few weeks, then it should run through Issue 500.

It does not have to be about Issue 500 or the Neopian Times.
