Hmm... Perhaps I could do both. ^_^ Like, both the arrow keys -and- WASD would work. I'd have to think about it though... Having two sets of movement keys would make it drastically easier to shake yourself out of grappling attacks later on. xD; If you don't want them to be using both control schemes at once, maybe you can put an option in the options menu that lets you toggle between the two? Y'know, arrow keys vs. WASD? Or along that train of thought, you could just do customizable controls altogether. XD; But that could cause issues with the menu and such, huh... I know in WoW accepts both, and it doesn't cause problems. And you can still customize the controls. But that's press-buttons-to-escape(-less) WoW. ...Why do the people of Terris Town have electric lamps?

It does indeed seem that the name the guards of Otanis are wanting to hear is unguessable. I did throw "Jarth" at them, though, but apparently they aren't on good terms with him. Very interesting.

Whoa, I tried exploring the top of the map where the scenery changes to a deserty plateau kind of scene, and the background music is just mad =D I keep dying though. Well, I am on like, level 7, and the monsters do about as much damage to me as I do to them... I managed to get to the gateway of Otanis, but the guards stopped me and asked who sent me xD And I just guessed the first name that popped into my head, Milly xD. On hindsight I probably should have guessed Jarth or Jeena... maybe even Armon. Oh, and Tren. But this whole desert themed, locust-inhabited place seems pretty cool so far. Except that I keep dying ... would it be too much of a spoiler to ask how much of the map is accessible beyond the point where the guards stop and ask for who sent you? ^^ But... The game ends after the spider cave. o_0 Did I download wrong or something? (Don't worry, I trained myself against spoilers to look away as soon as I recognize it as one.) EDIT: OH! Nevermind, I thought I missed something. Hmm... I bet the sender is someone we haven't met yet with a name we can't guess. I do like the theme very much. ^_^ But it'll take a bit of time before I won't be very tempted to run away from the enemies. I was actually wondering when someone would discover the mountain area. x3
Technically you're not supposed to enter the mountain region until after the Spider Tunnel - hence why the monsters are so much tougher there. But I figured that I could leave it open for exploration in case anyone wanted to be curious. ^_^ I don't know why, but I absolutely love how the music turned out in that place. <3
As for the guards, you won't be able to get past them until a certain storyline event in Terris Town after the Spider Tunnel. Just for giggles, though, try typing "your mom" or "Strife" when they ask you who sent you.
Oh, and Pacmanite, that little hole in the ground in A1 is for some kind of magic seed later in the game. It'll grow instantly into a vine that you can use as a ladder to climb up walls. =3 ...Why do the people of Terris Town have electric lamps? You know... I never thought of that. xD I phail at isometric furniture.

I am not entirely certain how to reach the desert. >_> Am I supposed go to C-5, break the two breakable rocks, and then try to jump over the remaining unbreakable rocks?

I believe I have an alternative lighting solution for those without electricity. A candle! Complete with a holder for carrying! Perfect for anytime you need to walk around at night. And it will light even the dankest of dungeons! *starts on weapons hanging on the wall* EDIT: Okay, here they are. A slew of weapons to keep for your home security! Feel free to modify them for use in the field of battle should you so desire.

Actually, I sealed off that area purposely for now because I don't know what to do with it yet. Instead, head up to the A row and then walk right until you reach the cliff with the ring of music-note rocks. Hitting all of them should now open up a bridge. ^_^ I believe I have an alternative lighting solution for those without electricity. A candle! Complete with a holder for carrying! This'll help a ton with the semi-realisticization of town areas.

This thread is dead but I feel obligated to mention that the boss for the second dungeon looks awesome. :3 Looks very much like a video game boss IMO.

So I asked PFA for a copy of her save-file and managed to finish the second boss. (That's right, this time I got those key items.) I was wondering... Strife, are you tying to avoid various/obvious cliches? In the dialogue I thought for sure Ikkin would say something about breaking a deal but that's not the way it turned. I'm also wondering how regular spiders could grow into those things. I'm thinking either they need to take a pupa form, or they just go though a bunch of painful growth-spurts at some point in their development. But that's just theorizing. I also noticed that when what's-her-name said she'd release Ikkin's friend (singular) she released Armon as well. Aaand it looks like we've got another case of protagonist-not-figuring-out-the-obvious. Suggestions: Do you think that, at least for some skills other than jumping, you could mention how exactly they're affected when you spend skill points in them? For example, spin attack: When you upgrade it, does it's range increase, or it's power? I haven't been spending a lot of skill points because I don't know how it could benefit me. It also might be nice to have some sort of rest skill where you can sit down and your mana will regenerate faster (and maybe just a pinch of your health). Naturally, you wouldn't want to use this in battle, but it would be a time-saver in safer areas.

I guess you could say that the spiders build those brown squishy eggs when they're ready to start growing and hide out in them until they've gained a meter or two. If it makes more sense, I could put a few extra-large eggs around the dungeon that spit out Q-childs.
As for Quendathu releasing Armon, perhaps I could add an S at the end of "friend" so that it looks like she's mistaking Armon for one of Ikkin's friends. Either that, or she just releases him because she's given up entirely.
Hey, I can't avoid every cliche. xD For one thing, i've completely embraced the cliche of buildings and underground areas being much larger on the inside than on the outside. Not to mention, amnesia is a common cliche for protagonists. ^^; I could try and see if I can mention what skill points affect, but seeing as how there's very little space in the description panel of the Character menu, it'll be very difficult to pull off without sounding weird. That, and adding a scrollbar would make the description code needlessly complex. D: But for all sword skills, adding skill points will increase that particular skill's power, and never its range. Magic skills are slightly different sometimes (such as the speed of the projectile), but not by much. As for resting, sleeping bags are a kind of rest skill, so to speak, although you have to be standing over a save point. Soon enough though, as your Defense rises, you'll start to notice that your health regenerates pretty quickly up to a certain amount when you stand still. I think at this point in the game, standing still would allow Ikkin to recover about 10% of her maximum health within a few minutes, provided that she's wounded heavily enough. Theoretically, a person with 99 Defense who has 1 HP remaining would be able to stand still and have it regenerate up to 50% in less than a minute. Trust me, you'll need that kind of regeneration near the end of the game. x)

Hmm... that could work.
That's why I said 'various.' I know my dad pointed out the bit about amnesia. I did completely forget about the 'bigger on the inside' bit, though. Hmm... Maybe you could have a trainer, or related NPC, mention it at least? It doesn't seem so big you'd need to include it in each description. Thanks for telling, though. Similar thing with the resting. If an NPC, maybe one in an inn, could mention it, it would be helpful. ^_^

I started drawing some forum personas today, just for the heck of it. =3 I have no clue where any of them would fit in the plot yet, but it still looks cool. xD

Because she totally look like a winged Zafara in that screenshot. Oh and I suppose she wouldn't mind a little modification since she once did post an alternate version of herself somewhere else.

XDDD ...I find it mildly amusing, however, that you drew the persona I use on my site minus glasses rather than the Ninja PFA I use here on the NTWF (who has a slightly different outfit, looking like this). Whatev though, still is awesome. <3
