Harryd smiled. "No need to impress anyone out here-" He stopped when he heard Nigel's call. He made no noise for the moment, wondering who could be out here.

After a few silent moments Nigel and Luster nodded at each other and began to dash in the direction of the noise. They burst into the clearing and surrounded Harryd and Moira, blades pointing threateningly.
"We gave you fair warning," Nigel spat giving them a hard but unangered glare. "What are you two doing out here this time of night? Don't try any fast ones with us."
"Wait." Luster muttered pulling back her blade slightly. "You're the two from the tavern are you not?"

Harryd nodded. "Yes, we are. I apologize for not responding; I was afraid you might be a patrol, trying to trick us into coming out in the open so that you could capture us."

Nigel scoffed and drew his blade back as well. "For that I don't blame you. I assume the king's troops are after you as well? Wouldn't suprise me, there's barely anyone within the borders who isn't marked these days. Perhaps you would like to travel with us? We are headed towards an area in the Nothern Range that is unpassable to those who aren't guided by someone whose been there before. You can find refuge there with us and our comrads."
Luster shot him a spiteful glare and rubbed her forehead impatiently as if fiercely trying to supress her anger. "Nigel, they can't go there and you know it..."

"I already have friends in the North," Harryd replied. He thought for a moment. "Who are these people you speak of?"

Luster let out a deep sigh and shook her head. "I don't know why I try. Just tell them Nigel."
Almost triumphantly Nigel cleared his throat and replied. "We are part of a group that goes by no name in particular but we must remain under constant secrecy for, nameless or not, we are known. Our leader, Lazarus, has created a safehold for us in the Northern Range/"

Moira had been keeping her mouth shut while they spoke; she knew little to nothing of what they spoke of. However, when she heard the name Lazarus she almost jumped. She had heard of Lazarus.
She abruptly turned to Harryd.
"No," she said. "I will not go anywhere near Lazarus." Her eyes were cold with hate.

"Your choice," Harryd replied. "But might I ask what you have against Lazarus?"

Nigel and Luster glanced at each other completely void of any outward emotion for a few awkward moments. Finally Luster cleared her throat and asked "I'm sorry but we don't actually know him that well...maybe if you could explain a bit more..."

Moira took a deep breath and let out a few simple words: "He killed my brother."
She glanced down at her feet, her face getting hot. It had only been a couple years since Toran--more commonly known as Tor--had disappeared. Eventually, after weeks of painstaking searching, someone found his bow in the northern woods... The person who found it knew those lands well, and he knew that it was closest to Lazarus' territory. From the stories Moira had heard, Lazarus could be a cold-hearted, ruthless man.

Harryd put his hand on Moira's shoulder. "I know it's hard, but I want you to tell me what happened," he said gently.

Luster covered her mouth with a look of worry upon her eyes. "I dearly hope you're mistaken," she whispered "For Lazarus has given us refuge for longer than I can remember..."

"Well," Moira began after taking a deep breath. She exhaled slowly and continued. "Just a few years ago my brother, Toran, had left my family to go off and explore the north, where he heard groups were forming who were strongly against the king and his ways. He told us he would return in a few weeks when he had learned all he could learn, for my entire village dislikes the king and his new, absurd rules against other races.
"It had been about a month when we began to wonder. He had not returned, and no one had any word from him or the northerners. He was presumed killed by a wild animal, but many men from the village set forth to search for him. After just a couple of days his beloved bow was found, and it was right next to Lazarus' camp.
"The village elders had heard of Lazarus and his men, and the tales were not good ones. Apparently he is a cold hearted and ruthless man, killing anyone who might have the slightest idea of supporting the king. I don't know what he has done for you, but frankly I must admit I will be terrified for my own life if we go anywhere near Lazarus."
Moira sighed and crossed her arms over her chest. She felt awkward after her short speech, and she wanted someone to say something before it became even more tense.

Harryd turned to Luster and Nigel. "Do you think this could be true?"

Nigel stood rigid and speechless staring off into the depths of the woods. Luster hesitantly sat upon the ground with the others and let out a deep and distraught sigh. "Her recollection makes sense...so...I'm afraid it could indeed be true."
Clearing her throat she shifted unconfortably in her seat and gazed up at the sky. "Like Nigel, Lazarus is half-elf but unlike most does not carry a loyalty to either side. Anyone that is somehow in a aquaintence with or loyal to the king or nobility does not even want to sneeze in his genral direction lest they wish to be slaughtered. But the peculiar thing is...for some reason Lazarus cannot kill anyone, use an assasain or even die himself...but..."
Luster's eyes widened then shut as the horrible realization passed over her "I really don't know how to explain this...but you see. Nigel and I aren't what you'd even begin to call ordinary. We must constantly police our emotions. For if we become too saddened or angered our subconsious dissolves and a severely savage and limitless one takes place until our emotions calm. but until..until then..."
Nigel gripped the hilt of his blade in remorse "That's why there are times when we'll remember him bringing up our deceased love ones and then never remember what happens next. That way he's not directly using us assassains even though we must make one kill before returning to our civilized form..."
