E stuck her tongue out at Ky'sta.

"Look, you two better not spark up a row," warned Xander calmly. "And besides, artifacts don't suddenly work when you wear them. Sometimes you have to possess certain abilities, requirements...for example, my dagger can only serve as a channel for magical power in the hands of an air mage, and is only capable of killing in their hands...in this case, my hands. If I passed it on to any of you, none of you could use it to kill me."

Ky'sta scowled and examined the shard's fine almost lethal looking tip. "And of course I don't even know the first time about mine..."
Without warning the elfling slid off the wood block that had been placed on her chair in the same manner as a booster seat and made her way out the door. The night air was warm but the heavy breeze made her damp hair feel chilled. Nevertheless she flopped onto her back and gazed up at the countless stars in the distance.

Pal stood in front of them as they discussed their artifacts, almost completely ignoring her. She glared at E.
"I know what a bracelet is. But it looks just like your necklace, and... Apparently they are some sort of artifacts."
She sat down at a chair just inches away from E stubbornly.
"Now," she said. "Tell me what it is and what it does. Don't lie."

"Fine. It's an amulet that gives whoever wears it magical powers that get taken away whenever you lose the amulet. There's one for each kingdom. You happy now?"

"I can't understand why you two have to be so rough with discussing artifacts," said Xander. The young man's fingers drummed the table idly as he studied his companions.
He paused for a moment and stared at E. "Did you say...amulets for each kingdom?"

Pal rubbed her amulet and nodded at E. "Thanks," she mumbled. "How can you tell which kingdom it came from?"
Pal and her father had traveled so much when she was young that she really had no idea where she was born, or where her father was born. Her past was so jumbled and confusing.
Pal awkwardly found a chair next to the table and waited for an answer. She didn't particularly like E, but she continued to glance at Xander from time to time. He seemed to only be interested in the amulets.

Ky'sta blinked a few times up at her taller companions and glanced around at the more colorful counterparts of her own crystal shard. Not remembering anything about the kingdoms or even where she was, let alone anything but how to speak, eat and breathe she tugged at E's sleeve. "So what are the kingdoms?"

"In that order, yes. How would I know that? And I don't really remember the names for most of the kingdoms, but I do know that there's one for water and ice, one for fire, one for air, one for earth, one for thunder and lightning and stuff, and one for darkness. There used to be one for light too, but a few years ago, something or someone attacked it, I don't know what, but most of those who survived it were magical, and they turned to darkness, the rest... I don't know. But there still are a few people from there who can do light magic, but they weren't there at the time."
