"Good morning, Zari," Kat greeted Zari, as the latter rushed past. The knight-mage continued walking through the corridors, hoping to find the dining hall full of her fellow knights, King Wolf, and maybe a few other nobles who hung around the castle on a daily basis, or actually lived in it.
But when she reached the huge double doors that led to the hall and tugged at one of them, she was rather astonished to see the long tables and chairs empty and devoid of people, food, and morning conversation. A maidservant passed by, adjusting her apron and running a hand through her red hair, which was pulled back into a tight ponytail.
"Lady Kalianne Lunara," said the servant, curtsying low. "Does the mistress wish for anything to calm her waking appetite?"
"Liarre, I only wish to know where my fellow knights are, and where his Majesty King Wolf is. Why aren't they around for breakfast yet?"
A shrug. Liarre twisted the hem of her apron, which looked worn but clean.
"Milady, do you know what time it is now? We are still making breakfast. You must be an early bird, waking up at this hour."
Kat grinned. "I like watching the sunrise. And I have a morning warm-up routine after I get out of bed. Just to make sure I don't get too rusty and end up leaning on magic all the time. Sorry, I guess I was just too excited to eat. No, Lia, I'll wait for them to come down. It would be quite uncouth for me to fill myself up while they are all probably still asleep...or recovering."
Her smile slipped away as fast as a thief passing through the night as the worry sank in again.
"Milady, are you all right?"
"Yes, Lia, you may go back to work. I will be back later."
The servant curtsied again before leaving, her ponytail bobbing up and down like an orange beacon. Kat left the dining hall, closing the door behind her, and decided to walk towards the infirmary to pay her recovering comrades a visit.

"Sir Shade, Sir Kit, what happened?"
“I got attacked by a demon while exploring the shadow-lands last night. I managed to escape, but I still got my leg broken, which sucks.” Shade paused, trying to sort through her memories of last night. “I guess I got teleported here somehow, since I remember coming back to my room, not here.”

"I'm hoping you could tell me, it's not everyday I wake up with a slashed arm," Kit said, motioning towards his injured right arm with his left. He sounded annoyed. A moment later, he continued - "Sorry, I really should'nt be so rude. It's just that I hate not knowing what happened, and why I'm stuck in this bed."
"Well, I can definitely empathize with that," Ikkin said, a note of annoyance in her own voice. "I woke up this morning in my room with no memories of the last day or so. Though, I suppose I should consider myself fortunate that I didn't have any mysterious injuries."
She sighed. "Something definitely happened yesterday... but, it seems that no one I've talked to knows what it is. Very frustrating, and there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it. On the other hand, there is something I could do for you..." She trailed off.
Sev, who was standing on the floor and listening in, glared at her. "You're not going to make me cry again. It's humiliating."
"But you could help Kit! He shouldn't have to stay in that bed while we're able to walk around as we please, if we can do something about it..."
Sev was not convinced. "You better not start cutting onions near me again..."
Ikkin smirked. "I'm sure we could find some other way..."
Sev smirked back. "You do know you ignored Shade, right?" he asked. "She just told you what happened last night."
"What?" Ikkin asked. "How did I... oh, I must not have been paying attention... What did she say?"
"She said that she was attacked by a demon while exploring the shadow-lands, and broke her leg."
"A demon..." Ikkin said. "If they're still around, that might be trouble..."
"They're not," Sev said. "I could sense a demon a mile off... at least, the malicious kind."
"Well, I suppose we'll just have to get to the bottom of this, then," Ikkin said. "And you'll have to heal Shade, too, you know."
Sev just sighed.

Emma had been wandering the halls for a while now, and hadn't found her lodgings. She decided to venture into one of the rooms, and besides, there were people talking. Maybe one of them could tell her where her room was... "Umm... excuse me? Do you know where my room would be?" she said as she entered. Whoops. This wasn't anywhere near her room for sure, this apparently being the infirmary. "Er, sorry to interupt, but I'm new here. I was just recently knighted..." Akward moment.

The corridors and hallways and labyrinthine passages seemed to fall away that morning as Wolf headed towards the infirmary, and he seemed to arrive at his destination sooner than he had expected to. In truth, though, he had been to the infirmary but once before after they had come to the castle, and that visit had been merely to get acquainted with some of the healers, so its briefness was not entirely a surprise.
Turning to his right and stepping into the infirmary itself, he was soon made privy to the fact that he was not first-- and not likely to be the last --to visit Lady Shade and Sir Kit on this morn, as both Dame Ikkin and Lady Emma, the recently-knighted Sangria Knight, were both in the room already.
As Wolf seemed to have entered during a moment of silence, he spoke up and said, "Sir Kit, Lady Shade, I hope you have both been well, providing the circumstances. Ikken, Emma, I hope all is well, as well?"

"Erm, well yes. Except I can't seem to find my rooms. Would you happen to know where they may be?" said Emma sheepishly. Once I get to my room, she thought, I am drawing a map of everything, so as not to get lost on my way to the privy.

Zari, upon finding the hall empty, thought aloud. 'I thought breakfast would be served by now. Ah well.' the knight turned around and half-flew to the infirmary. She curtsied 'Sir Kit, Lady Shade, are your wounds healing? Eh..Oh sorry, forgot you were in here.' the Crimson-clad knight curtsied again 'Good morning, King Wolf, Dame Ikkin and- Hi, I didn't catch your name' she said, giving the Sangria Knight a warm smile.

Kat saw King Wolf disappear into the infirmary just as she was about to make her way towards it. She followed, stepping in and stepping back to let Lady Zari pass through first.
"Good morning, everyone," the Purple Knight said, smiling. "How is everyone today? Unfortunately...I have to admit, I'm not exactly healer material, so I can't do much. Unless of course, they are simple things like cuts and bruises and such."

((This bit begins a moment or so before Zari and Kat enter the infirmary, jus' so y' know. ~_^)) Wolf smiled and chuckled lightly as Emma asked her question; in truth, he hadn't been expecting such a question to arise at all. He bit lightly on his lip as he thought for a moment, Which wing are the Knights quarters in? It hasn't been very long we've been here, and I think I myself might have let it slip my mind during yesterday's...events.
He was about to answer when Lady Zari came into the room. After she said her own salutations, he bowed his head and said, "G'day, Zari--" And he would have said more, though at that very moment, Lady Kalianne also joined the room and gave her own greetings. In response, Wolf said as well, "Good morning, Kat."
He took a few steps back, to open their cluster a bit, and hoped that none of the healers would arrive and hassle them about the crowd being too large to let any healing occur to those there. Then again, if such were to happen, he could overrule their complaints and demand that everyone be allowed to say. Suppressing a laugh, he let loose a small smile at his own musings.

Post by Nut on Mar 1, 2007 16:13:31 GMT -5
A knight. It had been so sudden; one day she was a girl with a strangely glowing sword and a Meepit launcher, and the next day she was a girl with a strangely glowing sword and a Meepit launcher and a title. That title, bestowed on her in a moment by King Wolf, seemed to carry more bearing on her life than either of the weapons she’d trained for years to master.
...Well, she wasn’t exactly a master of the sword yet. Nut reached to her side and her fingers tingled on the hilt of her sword; she didn’t know whether from nervousness or from the energy its glow gave off. Slowly, almost fearfully, she drew it and gave it a swing through the air. The thin blade cut a smooth path, trailing blue light behind it, but it felt unwieldy to Nut. She slipped it back into its dormant position at her side before anyone could catch her swinging a dangerous weapon around like a toy. She had to behave like a knight, and that meant not accidentally slashing one of her comrades on the castle grounds.
Nut stopped beside a stream running through the trees. Idly she dipped a finger in the clear running water; it was still cold from the hours before sunrise not long since gone by. She glanced up at the turrets of the great castle that loomed above the trees, knowing she should probably get inside before she missed breakfast.
But what would she do in the castle? Everyone else was busy honing their skills or chatting. All the other knights knew each other from the past; as near as Nut could gather, they’d been together in a battle against shadow demons, but they seemed to remember no more of it than Nut could glean. She had little war experience and had certainly not been around to see demons. How could she jump in and offer condolences to knights wounded in a battle she’d never fought, or try to recollect memories she’d never had?
Well, she decided, she’d get used to this new life soon enough. She stood up, leaving the side of the comforting stream, and headed towards the castle.

Emma was still confused, and her stomach was now growling. "Erm, it's getting a bit crowded in here. I'm going off to try to find my quaters," again. "and the Dining Hall. Excuse me." Dang it, she was stuttering again. She left the room, no more knowledgable of things than when she first entered. Wonderful. My first encounter with any of the other knights, and I manage to stutter, sound stupid, and not manage to catch the names of half of them.

"Lady Emma," Wolf said, perhaps a bit too loudly, as he jumped forward just a bit, "to answer your question, most of the Knights' quarters are in the north wing of the castle; the door to your chambers will be marked with a sign of your color, sangria, so it shouldn't be terribly hard to find once you're there." He paused for a moment to catch his breath. "And the dining hall, the great hall, or whatever it may be called, isn't that far from here, actually, at the castle's core."
Wolf hesitated once more, a tingling feeling running up and down his spine. "And, Emma, worry not about catching everyones' names right away; you haven't even been here a full day yet, and so there's plenty of time to get acquainted still." He smiled at his newest knight there and felt suddenly proud with himself for having been able to assist her so.

((:/ since tamia hasnt posted yet.. I'll talk to nut )) Tirilia awaits Tamia's response but is distracted by a blue flash beside the stream up ahead, inclining her head curiously, she sees the feminine figure turn towards the castle.. about to call out her greetings she stops, as even from this distance she can see the figure is troubled, and something sparkles in the water beside the girl. Don't do it... the stream the girl leaves behind sparkles as brightly as the sun itself Dont....... The water still lingering on Nut's hand sparkles like gold and it slowly turns to ice.. the ice forms into tiny glowing replica of Nut's sword, crossed with a rose Sigh.. Aeilie you just couldnt help yourself..

"Thank you, I very much appreciate it." Emma smiled back. Suddenly, things were looking up. "I think we should all head to breakfast soon; otherwise it'll be noontime before anyone thinks of eating. I'm going to get aquainted with my rooms now; I really need to get settled." She nodded to the smallish tote bag she had been carrying the whole time. "I guess I will see you and the other knights at breakfeast..." Emma left the half-question hanging in the air as she left. North wing... north would be... Aha! A door with her Sangria color on it was just down the halls. She was practically beaming now. Walking in, she was delighted. There was a large window on her left, and a small bed and desk on the opposite wall. Perfect, she decided. First, she unpacked her Armory refrences and materials, and then her personal belongings; a few changes of clothes, and a painting of her dad. Taking in the morning sunlight she sighed contentedly. Now I only need something on my stomach...

It was more majestic than she could have ever imagined. The flowers seemed to sing, the moat babbled a harmony, and the sky whispered a cyan greeting. There was nothing that Echo could compare to this sight; the castle was larger than life against a backdrop and landscape that seemed painted by a master artist.
She didn't know if she should go on, or stand there and figure things out. She was slightly reckless, and her Mama said that it was always her weakest and strongest point.
Oh, how she missed her family...with her brother off in another land, her family back in her home village, and her adopted siblings far away from where she was now, she was on her own.
Echo slid off her newly broken pony, Edolie, and stroked her velvet tan muzzle. A small, catlike creature climbed out of her saddlebag and rested on her shoulder, surveying the new grounds with large green eyes. He chirped in his tounge and then spoke to Echo.
"This is a beautiful place." Echo nodded, silently working out what to do with this new life, and how to approach it. Her grey ears twitched as she heard sounds coming from the castle. She sighed decisively and climbed up onto Edolie again, and the cat creature crawled into the inside pocked of her dark green cloak.
"Well, Botta, I believe we better make our entrance." And with that, she headed toward the castle, trembling with nervousness as she went.
