The next stone didn't even hit the tree; in fact, it sailed wide and bounced into a shrub in the distance. The knight who had shot the projectile grimaced and thrust the slingshot into her belt, then stalked off to the stream to find some more pebbles.
She felt a little better as she let the icy water splash over her fingers, but she knew that something was definitely off with her today. She had ventured into the forest at dawn, and had managed to strike Oran the cat nearly as many times as she had the tree she was aiming for. Her lack of skill was certainly not brought on by lack of practice; she had been shooting at targets with a slingshot almost since she was capable of holding one.
Once she had selected a few small stones, she filled her pouch with the new ammunition and decided to quit for the morning. It was late enough in the morning that the rest of the castle would be bustling, and she would have work to do. Target practice would have to wait -- she could only hope that some of her ability would return after a good breakfast and a morning's training.
"I'm going now," she called to Oran, who was lounging in a nearby tree.
I was just getting comfortable too, the black cat said sarcastically, nursing a bruised paw.
The real reason she had come out here so early, however, had not been to beat up on trees. She had woken up feeling unusually refreshed and well-rested, before the events of the night before came tumbling down upon her. Things would be very different from here on. There were enemies of Dunburrow now, an unspoken shadow menace that would be back again. When or how, they didn't know. But she knew the Knights hadn't heard the last of the Shadows.

My secrets out. Why don't I care? If I'm first, It won't be long before Krahia, A'maya and Piter are found. Again, why don't I care? Kat, Tamia, and Pyro can spill the beans, the truth is much better than all these idiotic RUMOURS! Zari snarled at the wall. Rumours, unknown adversaries, and hysterical letters from home. That was it! She was going to talk to Dusk.

Tirilia had been officially a Knight for almost a week now, it had taken that long just to get her room to her liking and to learn her way around the castle as well as the grounds surrounding it.. But she had found her place.. a quiet spot in the lush grass beside the lake. A few strands of a young willow tree provided some shade. Sighing quietly, she felt at peace for the first time in many years.
Dressed in her favored casual white outfit, for once she was not wearing the silk strip across her mouth and nose. Allowing her thick black hair to spread across the grass, she watched the sun dance and glitter across the waters surface. Its sandy bottom allowed her to see every fish and turtle and eel that swam in the fresh, clear water. Humming quietly to herself she smiled at the air. "Where have you been my friend?"
It appeared like the sparkle of sun across the water, slowly solidifying until a massive beast, the size of a lion with the body of a wolf, stood at the waters edge. Its beautiful but fearsome face looked to be smiling at Tirilia. ~I have been here all along my dear and you know it~ its rich, motherly voice purred as it approached Tiri, who sat up to hug the creature around the neck.
"But of course, Aeilie" Tiri smiled, playfully slipping a wild daisy behind the creatures ear as it lay down beside her, its twin tails trailing in the water still. Tiri stroked the Hydraloq's fur, admiring the beautiful silvery blue tiger like stripes that appeared across her back when the sun reached her.
~How goes your Knightdom my dearest?~ "As well as I could have hoped.." Tirilia smiled again as she glanced back in the direction of the castle "I finally have a home" ~Ive never known you to be so sentimental~ Aeilie teased, but Tiri just blushed and smiled.

"That makes two of us." Kit said to Shade as he propped himself up against the wall next to his bed in an attempt to get a better look around the infirmary. His entire right arm was bandaged tightly, the flesh had been ripped open and had only recently started to stop bleeding. He couldn't exactly remember how he had gotten such a serious injury; his memory was vague and fuzzy, as if someone decided to remove all the faces and places from his memory for that period of time.
Tarot readings hadn't proved much of a help either, the results were inconsistent. The whole matter proved somewhat suspicious, but as he was stuck in the infirmary he couldn't do anything much as yet.
Maya had disappeared since then as well. He didn't know where or why she had gone, or even when she had left. Either way, he missed her arrogant all-knowing smirk and airy voice.

After the sun emerged from behind the mountains of Dunburrow, Kat finally stood up from the bench, nearly tripping over a stray stone in the process. She pocketed her comb and decided to return to her quarters, before her rumbling stomach digressed and pointed her to the direction of the dining hall.
The knight-mage walked through the garden, feeling the warm rays of the sun on her, seemingly assuring her that everything would be fine.
But Kat worried about her comrades - about Zari, Pyro and Tamia, who helped her fend off the dark forces in the dungeon, about Shino, Shade, Kit...everyone, including King Wolf. What if one - or some - of them was badly hurt? What if they lost someone? The thought of losing one knight from the forces of Castle Kestrel was just too much for her to think about on an empty stomach and in the early hours of the morning.
She walked past her quarters - marked by gilded oak doors with the plaque that marked her as a knight-mage - and looked for the dining hall, her slippers making soft noises on the floor that seemed to echo throughout the empty corridors.

“At least you can do things. They aren’t letting me out of bed.” Shade scowled. “I have wings. They are, in fact, useful. Meaning that yes, I can use them to fly.” Propping herself up on an arm, Shade turned to face Kit. “Sorry if I’m bugging you, but I don’t have anyone else to rant at.”

Wolf stood by the window, watching the painted sky coalesce into a single sheet of azurian blue. That blissful unification of colors, however, was likely still a ways off on this morning. The golden ring in the distance had only just left the horizon, and no matter how clear and cloudless the sky, such blending of the heavens would take time.
Time. How much of it had Wolf spent here, at the window? At which time had he left the tower's top the night before? Had that time...ever even occurred? When had his belongings been moved here, into this new room, his new room? Time seemed skewed this morning, as if the sun's rising had caused time to waver as a fire causes the air to dance. Or, perhaps, it was just...because.
Wolf rubbed his hand over his chest, his hand sliding between his unbuttoned silk shirt and touching upon his bare skin, and felt the scar that he had awoken with. Closing his eyes, he faintly recalled the green lightning that had shot into him the night before. He shuddered. Opening his eyes, he saw once more the sun in the distance.
As peaceful as the image was, it evoked within him the knowing that things were to come. As King now, he had many more duties to fulfill. Knighting ceremonies, selecting the council, tending to the various other duties of the Kingdom... He hadn't realised just how much was needed of him until now, with the sun peering into his eyes and his into the sun.
As he turned away and began undressing and redressing himself for the new day, he felt a new power tugging at him. At first, it seemed like a nagging buzz, a hum in his ears that would not cease, yet as the moments passed, the drone grew clearer and he realised with shock what it was. A new connection had been formed between him and the Knights, and he was now able to sense where they were, all of them-- Kat was making way to the dining hall, Zari was wandering the corridors, and Tamia was on the castle grounds.
Wolf smiled, buttoning the last button of the green vest that he wore now, along with a pair of brown trousers, his boots and gloves, and the circlet that declared him King of Dunburrow. The burdens of kingship were many, yet equally so were the gifts, and this was just one of them, he assumed. Certainly, newer knights to the kingdom would take time to become bonded, yet now, if danger or dispute were to arise, he would know precisely where to go to tend to it properly.
And now, of course, Wolf decided that it would be of particular good taste to visit those of his fellow Knights that had arrived in the infirmary, Lady Shade and Sir Kit. Almost certainly, they would enjoy his company, and he would most-certainly enjoy theirs.

Emma entered the ginormus hall. This was definitely different from her home where she had grown up. There were a few people repairing some damage, but she daren't ask them where her lodgings were. Emma decided to wander around for a bit instead; things were much more fun that way. Musing over her recent knighting she sighed. Things would take some-scratch that, a lot of getting used to. Deviously she grinned as she wandered the Castle.

Tirilia sighed, at last getting up and dusting herself off "I ought to be going back now.. I believe Im on guard duty this morning" ~As you wish my dear.. shall I accompany you?~ "No" Tiri says a little too quickly, and covers it with a smile "I dont know if the knights are quite ready to meet a Hydraloq.. give it a week" she winks and pets the creature, who vanishes in watery sparkle.
Turning for home, Tiri strolls barefoot through the long grass deep in thought, until a small stone whips through a shrub to her left and buries itself in the trunk of a tree on her right. Looking around, she sees no one.. "Im going now" she hears a voice in the distance, jumping the shrub, she sees Lady Tamia in the distance, cupping her hands to her mouth she calls "Good Morning!" and starts across the field to meet her fellow Knight.

Post by Ikkin on Feb 26, 2007 17:02:40 GMT -5
Ikkin woke up in her room and groaned. Where was she? She couldn't remember much of anything from last night... she'd prepared herself for the coronation of Sir... no, King Wolf... there'd been some evil force approaching... and then... nothing.
"Sev," she called, creating a flame for the phoenix to appear out of. "Do you know anything about what happened yesterday? I can't seem to remember a thing..."
The phoenix thought for a moment, then shook his head as if to clear it. "Strange... I can't seem to remember anything about it, either. There was something dark nearing the castle... but now, it's gone. Perhaps that could be the reason for our loss of memory..."
"It's still strange, though," Ikkin said. "Perhaps I should go to the infirmary to have myself checked."
"That might be for the best," Sev agreed. "I will go as well. Here, I'll take you."
Ikkin looked at him for a moment. It wasn't like Sev to offer his services when they weren't needed... he must have been worried about whatever had caused this. She held onto his tail, and they both disappeared in a flash.
Moments later, they found themselves in the infirmary. Sir Shade and Sir Kit were both lying in the beds, obviously wounded.
"Sir Shade, Sir Kit, what happened?" Ikkin asked, shocked. But, once she thought about it for a minute, it wasn't all too strange, after all. Was this related to my loss of memory? She hoped she would get answers soon.
((Read: Ikkin didn't read any of the actual fighting parts in the last RP, and would like to be filled in. XD))

((Jump in, Echo! )) As Tamia caught a glimpse of colour behind the last cluster trees, her hand immediately darted to the hilt of her sword. In later hours, she would look back at this motion and feel fairly proud of herself -- maybe it was a sign, maybe she finally was learning how to bear a sword. At present, however, she was almost overwhelmed with relief when she discovered no one but Lady Tirila outside the trees, who smiled and called, "Good morning!"The Orange Knight grinned in response as they converged on the trail leading through the field of rippling grass and back to the castle. "What brings you out here so early?" Tamia asked good-naturedly. The morning sun felt good on her back and the warmth comforted her, making it hard to believe that only a few minutes ago she had been brooding about shadows and darkness. There was just something here, but now it's gone, Oran complained. The cat often commented on things that weren't there, and had shown himself to be obnoxiously paranoid at times, so Tamia wasn't unduly concerned. She decided to ignore him for now -- Tamia was lucky enough that the Scarlet Knight didn't seem to have heard her talking to Oran in the forest, and there was no use in replying with her so close by now.

Zari walked down the hallway, passing Kat on her way. She slipped out a side door- no one appeare to be out, therefore no-one to see anything. She took off, flapping her wings. She'd missed flying- To reinforce her human disguise, she'd hidden her wings and other powers from view. Then again- who cared? She didn't. Diving towards the forest, landing in a tree. A loud Squark, and a black dragon the size of horse clacked into view. 'Hi there.' Another squark. 'They know now.' 'Kweh?' 'About me.' 'Mmmph.' Dusk wasn't yet old enough to talk, so most of the conversation was determined by guesswork. 'You don't understand me, do you?' 'ppppppppffffft.' 'Thought not.' Zari flapped back into the castle, then walked absently to the diing hall

It would be the first time any of the Knights had seen Lady Tirilia without the red silk face mask across her nose and mouth, in her carefree state of mind she seems to have forgotten it. Even as she meets Tamia in the middle of the path she simply nods her head in greeting "Just meeting with an old friend.." she says casually, aware of the clear running stream mere meters away from them, a certain sparkle in the water makes her smile
"There was just something here, but now it's gone" Tiri glances behind her and frowns, the voice being only just at the cusp of her hearing. She turns to Tamia "Did you hear something?" as she speaks, Tamia may or may not notice an unusual sight.. for a moment it looked as if Tirilia's canine teeth were abnormally long.. like those of a wolf.. or perhaps a demon.. imagination can play odd tricks when you only catch a glimpse..

"If you count fumbling with cards something, I guess you could say I can do things. And you don't have to be sorry, we're both frustrated being stuck in here. 'sides, if you do start to annoy me, I'll just turn and face the wall."
A momentary silence hung in the air as Kit tried his best to recall the memories of past events. He could clearly remember the coronation ceremony, but everything after that was incoherent. He remembered a skeletal army; running through the corridors; tarot cards; serrated spears; demons; Kristen.. none of it made any sense.
"Sir Shade, Sir Kit, what happened?"
He turned to the entrance of the infirmary to see Ikkin standing there, her hazel eyes reflecting the confusion he felt.
"I'm hoping you could tell me, it's not everyday I wake up with a slashed arm," he said, gesturing to the blood-soaked bandage on his right arm. His voice carrid a sour hint, irritated at his current predicament which rendered him almost practically useless and helpless.
He sighed and shook his head, perhaps the lack of sleep was getting to him after all. "Sorry, I really shouldn't be so rude. It's just that I hate not knowing what happened, and why I'm stuck in this bed."
