Zaha ate the last of her pigeon and followed the other ninjas at a run. "Not again, can't this rogue attack anyone at a reasonable time of day?" she muttered angrily, drawing her katana (which was still covered by the black of the Sylian Stone and shedding off lilac light) and holding it, loosely, in her left hand (Zaha's left-handed), leaving her right hand free.
"Where are we going, if anywhere? We need a plan, instead of just hauling ourselves into the fray like normal!" The cat said, putting on a burst of speed to catch up with the others.

By the time the ninjas finally arrived at the scene, most of the townspeople were gathering around a small farm. A young woman, probably in her twenties, was half-sobbing inside its circle, her long skirt covered in blood.
The ninjas were not able to hear half the story the woman was tearfully detailing. "... And that red-haired boy with a bow! He killed my poor little Tarshy right in front of me with his arrow!" she was able to break out when the ninjas came closer. "He even aimed another arrow at me! I just... ran off before he could fire..."
The mayor of the town approached the ninjas, a furious expression present on his face. "All the things we've given you and THIS is what you're paying us in return?!" he angrily hissed.

"First, let's see if we can find out where the screams are coming from," PFA said in response to Zaha. "If the rogue's there, then we can figure out some way to sneak up on her, or something..."
Finally, the ninjas could see where all the commotion was. A small farm, and a woman sobbing. PFA's initial thought was that the rogue had attacked again, but when she got close enough to hear what was going on, she was proven wrong.
Jernath?! She can't be serious, can she? Why would he-- PFA's thoughts were interrupted by the angry mayor, yelling at the ninjas.
"I swear, we didn't do it!" SRGNG yelped hurriedly, raising his arms straight into the air. "Or we didn't mean to do it! It must have been an accident! Or maybe whatever Cat Assassin had last night is contagious!"
PFA had the undying feeling that SRGNG wasn't helping. She bowed low to the mayor, hoping it would prove her honesty somehow. "Sir, we are so terribly sorry about what happened. I do not know how or why it happened, but I assure you, if you give us some time to investigate, we can prove that the archer is innocent. Please!" The last word came out a little more desperate than she would have hoped, but maybe it would help.
The whole time, PFA's mind was racing, trying to find out why this would happen. Jernath wouldn't really do such a terrible thing, would he?
...Or would he?

To everyone's suprise, including her own, Zaha immediately exploded. "Look, mister, you can't yell at us for what Jernath's done, kay? He seemed perfectly sane last night. There's absoltely no logic in him doing this. I think it's the rogue in a badly cut red wig and a school play costume, or possibly his evil twin." Zaha pulled a face to illustrate how unlikely this really was and continued in a distinctly dangerous But I do not believe it is Jernath, because he is a sane and normal kid. Unlike the rest of us." Zaha threw her head back in a shreik of slightly mad-sounding laughter. Then she flicked out her wrist, sending the tip of her katana whipping around until it was about two inches from the mayors nose. "Whatever our friend Jernath did or did not do, you have no right to yell at us. We are not responsible for Jernaths behaviour. We ninjas have our honour. I'd appreciate it if you didn't insult the honour of a Feliastion preistess turned ninja. It's not justified and just makes you look silly."

Cat Assassin forcefully pulled down Zaha's katana downward, away from the mayor. He could tell that she just woke up badly from her sleep. "Zaha, pointing a weapon against someone who's just trying to keep everyone here from rioting won't do any good, and so is blatantly bragging about your code of honor in such a wrong time," the cat murmured at her as he slowly released his grip on her katana. He would have to consult her about friendlier approaches later.
The mayor was obviously taken by surprise, but quickly fixed himself in front of everyone else. "I don't give a heck on your code of honor, but I'm pretty sure you should be held responsible for the actions of your 'friend'," he angrily said, almost being sarcastic on the last part. "If ever he's proven to have done such actions, we will not hesitate to arrest and put him to justice," he finished. A couple of cheers followed among the crowd of fearful townspeople, obviously liking how coldly the mayor was treating the ninjas.
Cat Assassin tried to keep his own composure under pressure. "... I won't hesitate to bring Jernath myself if I have to, but give us time to find out whether he's really the one that woman is saying to be the killer of her lamb," he adjusted his coat.
"Guys, I think we're staying here for a bit longer than I thought," the cat sadly broke out.

PFA was starting to feel awful for trusting Jernath. He had attacked them in the forest... who's to say he wasn't just a spy sent to cause trouble? What if this was the reason he had tagged along this whole time? She didn't want to believe it, but the possibility ran through her head over and over.
SRGNG, however, struck a pose vaguely reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. "Trust us, Mr. Mayor, we will find out what happened and report back to you about it, whether we like our findings or not." A strangely serious promise, considering SRGNG's usual behavior.
"First we'll have to find out where he is," PFA said slowly. "We'll probably have to split up and search, so we can find him faster. And... we might need our weapons ready. Just in case.
"When we find him, we'll question him," she added, with slightly more determination. You could still sense the hesitation in her voice, though. "And we can know whether or not he's guilty." Hopefully, she considered adding, but decided better of it.
"So..." SRGNG looked around at the other ninjas, then at the mayor. "Should we start looking, then?"

"Thanks. I probably would have gutted him if you hadn't stopped me." Zaha murmured, then raised her voice to talk to everyone in general. "He went hunting for food this morning. Do any of you know where if anywhere one could find things like deer, pigeons, any wild edible animals? That seems the logical place to pick up his tracks or scent." Zaha frowned and looked at the forest, obviously thinking.
"That thing looks big enough to lose oneself in. If you don't want to help us, that's find, but could just answer this one question of mine as it will help this woman's kitten to be avenged, at least in part." the ninja-cat concluded, putting her katana back in it's shoulder sheath and then dropping her hands to her sides. Silently, she added. "Please, Bastet and Naviere, let them be even a little bit helpful...please."

"Hmm... judging by the sun's position in they sky, it's about 8 am, the forest is west of here, so if any of us get lost in there, remember that the sun will rise from the direstion of the town. I'm good at identifying footprints, you know," said Bettyming as she showed Zaha a modification on her shoe, wooden blocks cut and arranged to look like a paw print. "No one in their right mind would try to follow a bear. Is there any particular way we're going to arrange this operation?" Suddenly, the sound of metal hitting metal was heards from within the forest...

((>_> PFA doesn't want this RP to die, so... *random NPC godmode*))
One of the villagers looked over the ninjas suspiciously for a while, before turning to the mayor. "I don't trust these ninjas to go on their own," he hissed, "they might rig the evidence if they go unwatched. At least one of us should go with them! Make sure they do this right!"
Most of the villagers who were considering going with the ninjas changed their mind upon hearing the steel clashing coming from the forest. Though some of the fiercer ones just grabbed their pitchforks and prepared themselves to fight any hostile beings that might have been out there.
PFA grimaced, turning to the other ninjas. "I think a good place to start looking is wherever those battle sounds are coming from!" She started running in the direction the sound had come from, pausing just once to beckon the others. "Whoever wants to come with me, please do so!" A handful of villagers followed after the ninja.
PFA inwardly realized that Jernath didn't have a sword (or at least not that she knew of), so the steel clashing was not likely where he was. But she decided against mentioning this, and just continued on.

The first thought that went into Cat Assassin's mind upon hearing one of the villagers cry out more of their suspicions was "Crud." A brief glance among the townspeople and the feline already knew they were inexperienced and arrogant enough not to believe the ninjas. What would the ninjas get from faking evidences and releasing someone who was completely capable of stabbing anyone on their back, anyway?
Paranoia somehow had the feline very worried about the villagers.
"One word of advice: don't EVER come in front of my way," the cat grimly added whilst dashing way ahead of the others. Like most of his threats, he was half-bluffing, but whoever had the guts to meddle in the affairs of the ninjas would certainly receive one heck of a beating.

Bettyming wandered about the Land of Dead Roleplays. it was a dark, dull place. It was always night. There was an occasional coffee shop or fruit stand on the endless road. Other than that, the rest of the landscape was a gray desert. Now and then, another roleplay character would be encountered in the desert.
When everyone got to the forest, they couldn't believe their eyes. It was a massive fight... sort of. "Your crops compromise mine!" "I didn't do anything, ya idioit!" It was two farmers, swinging hoes at each other. Obviously they were mad. "Ummm... maybe we shouldn't be involved with this conflict..." whispered Bettyming. Everyone slowly backed away as the farmers attacked each other.

"...Yeah, good plan," PFA whispered back. We've got plenty of other things to worry about, anyway... she added silently.
"So I guess that takes us back to square one," SRGNG thought aloud, putting on the kind of face you see in detective shows. "Finding Jernath. Now if I were a revenge-driven red-headed guy with a bow, where would I be...?"
Perhaps it was coincidence. Perhaps it was irony. Perhaps it was just PFA not wanting to spend several pages of useless searching. But whatever the reason, Jernath picked that very time to show up in a branch, somewhere within earshot of the ninjas.
"Hey, I heard fighting noises, so I came to see what it was," Jernath said to the ninjas. "But from the looks of it, it's nothing important..."
He climbed down from the tree to greet the ninjas, and got greeted by the angry glares of the villagers who had come along. Jernath didn't seem to notice them, however.
"So what are you all doing out here, anyway?" he asked.
There was silence. Silence, that is, up until SRGNG turned to the other ninjas, asking, "Do you think we should tell him?"
Jernath was confused. "Tell me what?"

Bettyming sighed. "Jernath... did you... shoot an arrow at a cat... and then aim for a person? Tell the truth,, or no dessert. Lies result in a time-out. So,... did you shoot a cat?" All eyes were on Jernath. It must have been an uncomfortable situation. "Well... " said a villager in the back of the crowd.

((I'm kinda confused... what was supposed to have been kill'd here? XD; CA said lamb, Zaha said kitten, and Bettyming said cat...))
Jernath raised an eyebrow. "What? Of course I didn't. Why would you think I'd do that?"
"Someone from the village said she was shot at, and she specifically described you!" came a shout from one of the villagers.
SRGNG confronted Jernath in the most Matlock-like way possible. "Are you sure you didn't do it? Where were you this morning at the time of the crime?"
"Uhhh... hunting, I'd assume, since that's where I was all morning," Jernath replied, not at all sure when the time of the crime even was. "But I shot at deer, not people."
SRGNG scratched his chin. "Deer, you say? Are you sure it was a deer?"
Jernath shrugged. "It tasted like deer."
One of the villagers suddenly fainted.
"Look, if I had actually tried to shoot at someone, I would know," Jernath stated. "Maybe it was someone who looks kinda like me, I don't know. But it wasn't me."
Of course, not everybody was exactly willing to believe him.

((I thought it was a cat/kitten...)) "He's a muderer!" shouted what looked like what could be a "crazy cat lady". "I-uh, uh..." stammered Jernath. "I do not approve of this, and I find this inconveniance problematic," said Bettyming in a very dark tone of voice. "Unless you want a double-kidney transplant, you have to come up with an explanation. Fast. Also, a rebuttal. You said 'Hunting, I assume'. You should know whether you were hunting or not."
