"Hmmm...I agree with the going out bit. Gives us time to prepare and practice, and formulate a good plan. And at least we can lure the Mageri out if they find out we're all out of the manor."
She spoke one powerful command word, and before the kitten could take another step towards where he could sense the nearest Mageri, he disappeared in a puff of violet smoke. The magic rushed back into Kat, and it gave her a rejuvenating feeling.

"What do you mean?" Salah asked. "Of course it won't all go right, but we need to put our heads together and get an idea of who can do what and who can work together, so we don't get in each other's way. It's the most efficient thing to do." Aly started to mimic Salah as she spoke, but then stopped and sighed. "Sorry, I'm tired," she muttered. Something was draining her reserves. What, she had no idea, but it had to be another mage...she glanced at Subila. She wasn't all too informed on what dark mages could do...what if she was the cause? "I'm not used to working with other mages," Aly added to Salah. "And I don't do planning."

An echo was heard around. It was Subila's voice.
"... You've decided to go out? But that would further slow my recovery. Could you wait just a little while before I recover?"

"Go ahead if you want," Aly said, frowning. "Where are you anyway, Subila?"

"I'm not used to working with other mages," Aly explained. "And I don't do planning."
Salah deflated slightly, realizing she'd lost her temper a little. "Okay..." she muttered. "I think we should probably make sure we're all on the same page here at least, though..."
"You've decided to go out?" interjected Subila suddenly. "But that would further slow my recovery. Could you wait just a little while before I recover?"
Salah bit her lip. "Um... how long is a little while? Can't you recover outside?"

"Okay..." Salah murmured. "I think we should probably make sure we're all on the same page here at least, though..." "Sorry," Aly said shortly, frowning down at nothing in particular. "Um... how long is a little while? Can't you recover outside?" "There are shadows outside," Aly pointed out. "Can't you rest in one of those?" She frowned again and grabbed a small knife from her belt, whipping around to see the hallway behind her. "Kat, does your kitten--" The fire mage stopped abruptly. Kat had dismissed the magical kitten. But she could have sworn she'd heard a meow... I'm getting really tired, she thought, shaking her head. "Alright. Rest and recovery. Where are the rooms?"

"There are shadows outside," Aly pointed out to Subila. "Can't you rest in one of those?"
"Yeah, there's a huge forest outside and I'm sure a manor this big must have a big shadow, plus it's the middle of the night anyway." Omni paused to scratch an itch with her hind foot. "Though if you really need a shadow to rest in, I'll let you use mine for now. I wouldn't recommend using Salah's, hers is nonexistent."

"If we fight, we would be protecting those resources, and the Manor will still have someone helping it. Though we're in a pretty vulnerable position here. We're not very skilled, and those who are are low on energy. And personally I don't know any offensive attacks, I just have some magical defenses," Omni reflected. "Not very skilled? I beg to differ," replied Surf in a mock-arrogant way. She regained a serious tone, "I'm not saying I'm omnipotent, it's just that I have a few tricks up my sleeve yet. And I do know offensive attacks, thank you very much. I'm also not low on energy. I work with magical restraints when I train, so I have more magical energy. And since I don't often rely on magic alone, I don't use a lot of energy. But if what Omni says applies to the rest of you, we have a lot of training to do."

((... Never knew it was evening. xD))
"... I'm actually using the shadow of..." Subila stopped to think for awhile. "... that someone who just asked where I am. I feel the largest amount of dark energy in her, though not very much", she said. She could not remember that the girl whose shadow she was residing on goes by the name of Aly, but she did not even bother to know.
"... The Mageri themselves contain much larger amount of dark energy than all of you combined", she added, almost praising them for the fact. "... And though they might not be able to use it to their advantage, their very own presence makes my recovery faster."
Subila sighed. She just noticed what she said might be morale-degrading to the others. She wasn't helping at all.
"... It's your choice, really", she said reluctantly. "... Retreat and risk losing assistance from a mage of a rare type, or stay here and let me recover in time to help you whenever the Mageri come by."

"I can create a shadow for you wherever you want it," Salah offered tentatively, still not exactly sure where she should be talking to.

"... Weird for a light mage to offer, but thanks for the help", Subila said. Deep inside, she was still doubting whether she should trust Salah: after all, she was a light mage. However, she had no choice but to cooperate.

"Weird for a light mage to offer," Subila spoke at last, "but thanks for the help."
Salah spent a puzzling split-second wondering if that was consent or not before she decided that avoiding the question would be the best thing to do. "Not really," she told Subila. "If you can control light, you can control shadows too. So, um, what exactly do you need? Would making a section of the hall completely dark be good?"

"That's imaginable, seeing that there's more of them than us. Plus they have that lust for power that Aaron mentioned," she said, pretty sure she got the male Thirecat's name wrong. "The Mageri are outside, too. Are you sure you couldn't get a similar recovery rate outside?"
"And Surf, I was referring to the group in general. Most of us aren't very skilled, and most of the ones that are are tired. Even with one skilled person, I think it would be hard to fight off the Mageri right now."

Aly jumped. My shadow? She sighed. Oh, whatever. It wasn't like Subila was going to kill her...if only she wasn't so drained! "I can use my magic for just about everything," the fire mage said. "And usually, I have a lot of energy--I use it a lot, after all." She didn't mention that her familiar contained most of her extra energy. Wait. She frowned. "Er...where's the nearest restroom?" the girl asked, rubbing the back of her leg with one boot. If it's not Subila... Well, she had enough energy left for a quick spell.

"Well...I think this is going well," said Kat, in an effort to inject some humor and optimism into the group. "Ever since I called back that kitten, I've got quite a bit of magic right now, so if you need anything, just ask."
