Ginz was hungry, but she stayed behind as everyone entered the Great Hall and chose a seat. She took Dan's hand so he waited with her. Not that he'd go ahead without her, but she still did. "I'm sorry about that. I don't know if they would let you stay if you don't practice any sort of magic," she whispered quickly and looked to the ground. "Mages have no rivalries, but I'm still not sure how much they'd welcome outsiders. They could ask you to leave, and I don't want to run that risk." She looked up and made a small pause. "Can you keep this up? ... It could be fun!" (OOC: Aeri, it sounds like your character will make the RP more interesting and exciting indeed. =D EDIT: And I guess I should apologize because all my posts are mostly related to Dan. ^^; I guess it's what Ginz is worrying about now, but I'll try to interact more with everyone. >>;

Shadow was approaching the Great Hall. She could see two figures had paused by the doorway. Because she was the manifestation of darkness herself, the talking couple did not notice her slip by them. As she passed, she could feel Ginz's magic - it was warm and gentle, malleable to Shadow's touch - it must be Ginz. But the other - the other had no mist around him. There was an odd glow from within him - whether it was because he was one of the Chosen, or because he had magical potential within him, Shadow could not tell. She dared not creep closer to find out. Shadow stepped into the brightly lit Great Hall and winced as her mists faded some in the light. Thankfully, the light wasn't bright enough to cause her to completely disappear (in which case she would simply reappear where there was any darkness at all). Shadow slipped into the shadow of a chair. She couldn't help but continue to ponder upon the unknown "other" that Ginz was speaking with. Pity Shadow didn't catch a glimpse of his face. He had to be either one of the Chosen or one carrying magical potential - there would be no other way for him to enter. The Chosen appeared rarely. Mages are inherently good but at the same time, solitary beings. To invite a human into their midst, particularly one without any magical ability at all, was a great honor bestowed upon the human. It meant his heart contained some purity that allowed him to hold a charm, which would enable him to use some magic. If he had magical potential, however - it meant he was as moldable as a child's mind. His potential could cause him to go toward spot in the magical spectrum - he could easily become a chronomancer as he could become a healer or even, should he be unfortunate to stumble upon a curse during his training, become a Shadow. Not that Shadow would have minded the company... ((OK, so that's a ton of background godmodding but I felt like writing a little background. If anyone minds this, I made it so it could easily be omitted without any changes to plot )

"Talking over a little food and drink would be nice," said Kat. She felt something at her back and glanced over her shoulder at her shadow. It flickered once, but besides that, it barely did anything else.
Before she followed the rest of the mages, Kat sent a small violet dragon the size of a gecko from the palm of her hand and onto the floor where her shadow fell. The tiny dragon, sparkling and crackling with Kat's magical power, sniffed at the space and made a tiny noise like a hungry kitten.
Whatever had been fooling around with her - and her shadow, probably, which may have been Shadow - was gone. But Kat made a mental note to bewitch her shadow and learn a bit of dark magic - she was very terrible at controlling darkness. But on the other hand, her skills with light made up for it. Still, Kat wanted to master all the elements...even with her three favorite elements in her hands, she felt as though there was still much more to learn, which there was.
There was nothing left to do except head for the Great Hall.

Gen decided not to get involved, or even consider trying to comprehend who or what Shadow was. Despite an excellent theoretical magical education when it came to applying her knowledge to practical situations she almost always got it wrong.
Trailing behind the rest, she was careful not to trip as they entered the Great Hall. The Hall itself was vast - much larger than was necessary considering the number of magical beings currently at the Mages' Manor. A high vaulted ceiling only further emphasised the sheer size of the room and Gen felt very small indeed in this large place standing at the back of a group of powerful mages.
She cursed her lack of skill in reproducing the things she had read in books and hoped that no one would ask her to make any sort of strange concoction for them. It would surely be a complete fiasco if the last time she had made something was anything to go by...
Eyes fluttering closed she remembered finely dicing the ingredients, adding them to the simmering cauldron and referring back to her instructions. She was sure that she had added the aconite...but then why wasn't it a light yellow? Gen shrugged and flung the rest of the ingredients into the mix with an annoyed flourish, then regretted it immediately. The cauldron exploded with a mighty sound and she was left to clean up the remains of a ruined workroom and a severely damaged pride.
...Everyone was now entering the Great Hall and Gen filed in behind them hoping with every fiber of her being that her coming to Mages' Manner was not a mistake and that she wouldn't make a complete fool of herself...

As the last of the mages entered the Great Hall, Ikkin took her position at the head of the long table. "Please, sit down," she said, gesturing to the seats to either side of her. "I hope that this room is to all of your likings. It might be a bit dusty; it's rather hard to clean in here, especially with the whole manor to worry about, as well. As soon as you're all seated, we can get started."
Ikkin gave all of her guests enough time to sit down, then clapped her hands twice. Immediately, a plate of food appeared in front of each person, filled with whatever food they most wanted. It was a nifty spell, Ikkin thought, and it served the manor well.
Before she started eating, however, Ikkin took the time to remind everyone that, if they wanted, magic lessons could start as soon as they were finished, and that the training hall was only a room over, so it wouldn't be hard for anyone to find. "Don't worry about the size of the manor," she finished. "You'll get used to it in time, and there are spells all over the manor to use to locate yourself if you get lost, so feel free to explore. But, for now, dig in."
And with that, Ikkin started in on the fish that had appeared in her plate.

Shadow emerged from the shadows and seated herself cautiously in her chair, waiting for Ikkin to give some sort of speech - but alas, Ikkin had taken to a Dumbledore-esque philosophy that magic users would listen better on a full stomach. Shadow's favorite food had been, when she was a human, steamed fish - surely enough, a plate had been placed before her. Shadow looked at it mournfully, then at Ikkin's plate, where another fish sat. If Shadow had any bodily fluids, she would have drooled and wept. Her curse - the one that forced to live for all eternity (or until someone could figure out how to break the spell and kill her) - the one that took away her corporal body and granted her this invincible body of shadow-mist - that curse took away her joys in life... like eating steamed fish. Mournfully, Shadow melted into her chair, and fled to the darkness beneath the table, trying to escape the smell as she waited for everyone to finish eating. Curse the mortals! They could die, AND they could eat steamed fish?!?! CURSES! ((Psycho says, "I had a really big craving for steamed fish just now ^_^; )

Magic lessons? Kat wanted to scoff. I don't need magic lessons! I'm a Second Order of Flamel mage - I don't need lessons! She sat down on Ikkin's right after brushing off a bit of dust and watched food - fish, rice, and some vegetables - materialize on her plate. As she ate, she had second thoughts.
Then again...I still do have a lot to learn. I'm Second Order, not First Order. Not even an archmage. My parents sure know how to lay on the pressure.
"Where's the library?" was the first thing that came out of her mouth after swallowing her first few bites of food. "I tend to rely on self-study a lot these days."

"The library takes up the whole top floor of the manor, actually," Ikkin said. "It requires a password to get into some of the restricted sections, but most of what you want should be available without it. There's plenty to learn from the books there, even if you're already an experienced mage. We have the largest collection of magical theory books out there... it really helps when learning spells from different systems of magic. I'm sure you'd enjoy them."

Omni munched happilly on a piece of the lemon chicken that lay on the plate in front of her, lapping up some milk from a bowl to wash it down every now and again. Noticing that many of her fellow mages were chatting, she decided to try to strike up some conversation of her own. She licked up any food that might have stuck to the fur around her and turned to one of the mages seated near her.
She paused for a moment to remember the other mage's name. "So, Salah is your name? You're a light mage?"

The small dragon had been walking for a while when she found what she had been searching for. Under a huge rock was a small opening, just big enough for her small Dragon self to enter. After about one meter of it was quite a spacious room, one meter in diameter.
"Just the good size..." She grinned as she morphed form. From a miniature dragon, she turned into a full human.
Aerisa smilled, petting the scaled, right side of her face. It had taken her quite a while to realise just how useful her dragonic matter truly was, but she certainly didn't regret the wait. She moved around a little. She was a bit cramped in this small room, but with some leaves it would do a good sleeping place. Now, only one problem was left: FINDING FOOD.
Her growling stomach reminded her of this problem, tormenting her with it's whining. She was just about to morph back and head outside when something caught her attention, in the dirt. She couldn't see it, but she had felt it. Carefully she dug into it, taking a candle from her pocket dimension to see. She was dumbfounded when she saw what ground the mage manor was built onto.
A black crystal, just like a void, shimmered in her hands. These crystals were very popular on the magical black market, with reason; it naturally absorbed magic, from the magical signature of a person to spells cast against them, without it's bearer having to do any effort for it to happen. Meaning... so long as she stayed underground and was careful enough, she could use some spells and let her magical signature loose without any fears of being detected.
...she could also potentially use them to try weaken some parts of the Manor's shield. Now THAT was nice...
(My only goal: Breaking. Havoc! =D )

Ginz watched Chikkin chicken appear on her plate. 0=)
"I love it!" exclaimed Ginz enthusiatically. "This place reminds me so much of my days at Hogwarts." She sighed dreamily. Being 18, Ginz had just recently graduated from the magic school that had taught her all she knew. Now she had her fellow mage friends to keep her company and help her as she kept practicing and learning. Everything seemed wonderful. Ginz thought nothing could possibly go wrong in the mannor. Perhaps it was naive, but that was her. She didn't count on the playful members wanting to cause havoc. She had no clue.
"I think we could divide the chores to shape this place up," she said, after tasting her food. A few mages around her groaned. "Hey, they'd be easy chores. Like cleaning up... with magic, it takes only a flick of a wand!" She took her hand out of her pocket a produced a few small pink sparkles.
Ginz was excited. About the classes, about the huge library and just about everything. She knew she would have trouble sleeping that night. Unless something else came up, maybe she would do a bit of exploring while everyone was asleep, she planned.

"Aye, but Ginz, magic also has its limits," said Kat, gesturing with a forkful of rice. "A mage has a certain power limit that increases with age and strength as he or she learns more skills and controls more elements and spells. Once that limit goes down, usually when one casts one too many spells or uses too much magic at one time...well, the least that could happen is that you get a splitting headache or something. I tend to...faint."
An embarrassed flush crept into her cheeks. She knew that many, if not all, of the mages dining with her that day knew how fragile she could get when she exhausted her limits.
"And if you insist, you could end up using your own life force for power, and you literally drain yourself of life. Then...well, you probably know what comes next. Honestly, what am I doing, lecturing about magic limits in a roomful of mages?
"Anyway, I'd like to check out the library sometime," Kat continued after that bite of rice. "The Lunara library, I'm afraid, has already given all the knowledge it can to me, and I'm hoping that I can find books that my parents were not able to collect...when they were still alive."
For a moment, the corners of her mouth turned down, but she quickly rearranged her face into a less depressed expression.

The weewoo pecked lightly on Scar's head

The weewoo pecked lightly on Scar's head
Tick
The weewoo pecked lightly on Scar's head
Tick
This went on for at least half an hour though only a few seconds passed for the rest of the realm.
Scar didn't like being bothered while he slept but whatever it was it was incredibly insistant. He yawned and decided to see what it was.
While chronomancers were very good at manipulating time no where was it said that they always had good timing. And so Scar decided to open his eyes when the weewoo decided to take another peck.
When he had finished turning back time to when he still had two eyes, Scar took up the small card and read the invitation. "Mages Guild," he said to himself while glaring at the weewoo. "Well, it's not like the League said I couldn't join a guild so why not?" He hastily scribbled a reply and reattached the invitation onto the weewoo. "Shoo," he snarled, still sour over the incident.
The weewoo flapped into the air and --
Tick
Scar caught the weewoo before it flew through the window that overlooked the inside of the clocktower and its mess of gigantic, clockwork machinery. "Wouldn't want the invite squished in transit do we?" he told the weewoo as he released it from the proper window.
Almost instantly he got the call. It felt artificial but then again, he told himself, not many people study teleportation these days. It was too much trouble really. But a free ride was a free ride and he barely had to nod before he found himself in a strange little office that practically radiated magic like a beacon.
He sniffed; chronomancy was more subtle.
He stepped away from the black box and looked around to find no one around. Strange, guilds usually had greeters. Oh well, he shrugged, he wasn't exactly a VIP was he? Scar peeked out of the open door, noticed that no one was looking and crept away down the corridor.
